Sync Issues: itunes alternatives recommendations

For some reason I have been experiencing sync issues. Itunes works fine when populating a new ipod or iphone but it's awful for simply maintaining playlists. I had been using copytrans manager and it was working great for the longest time. Then suddenly I started getting an error message on it saying I needed to upgrade to the latest version of itunes for it to work when I already had the latest version. On the rare occasion that it does connect I click on my iphone and see all the music. But, when I click on the individual playlists they are blank yet completely in tact on the ipod itself. So I'm looking for a good quick & simple alternative? Anyone have any recommendations?

Please note that this issue has been on ios 8.4 and not the latest ios. Why this is happening I have no idea.
