itunes very slow or not responding

My itunes library is very large, over 15K songs. Recently, my itunes library is very slow to respond or task manager will say it is not responding. I think this occurred after the last itunes update, but I dont know if this is causing the problem. I have not had a problem with itunes previously, even with my large library. I have disabled Genius and signed out of the itunes Store. Has anyone else had this problem? Please help.
