I got an ipod touch 4th gen for my mom today. I have updated it to the current ios of 6.1.6. I went to install the apps and for all of them I get the error that I need ios 7 or higher to install them. I also have a 4th gen touch, ios 6.1.6 and I am running the exact same apps that I am trying to install on the one I just got. Is there a way for me to clone my touch to my mom's so that she can run the same apps that I am using? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sooo, long time Iphone user here. I was away and without phone for 10 months and have an old backup and now a new one. short story is that the one I have now has a new life on it and new contacts etc. the old one has years of contacts including some I need to get to.

I just recently have access to the old backup ( computer was in storage), and now I was wondering if I can adopt some or all, or merge the contacts...is that a feature? I do also have some old notes on there that would be nice to have, but mostly I dumped the photos and what not when I was out of the area.

My laptop was recently stolen. Luckily most of my music files were stored on an HDD, as well as my iPod classic.
I've bought a new machine and am wondering how best to restore the library to something resembling what was on the laptop. I've got all sorts of playlists, ratings etc which I would like to preserve if possible. But I think the index/library files were on the laptop, so I guess that means lots of that info might be lost.
As I say I have most of the tracks. Perhaps one way to retain as much info as possible will be to copy the tracks from my iPod into the new iTunes library (and I'd appreciate any recommendations for software to do that). But lots of the tracks are only on the HDD. If I go this route, would there been an easy way to import only the non-iPod tracks from the HDD into iTunes, to avoid duplications?

So long story short I was trying to upload a few photos from my phone to my Facebook app. It always automatically chooses to upload them to the iOS album which is totally fine however, I just tried to upload a few pictures I took the other day and my iOS album isn't even an option when I choose to upload to Facebook. It gives me all of my other albums but that one is missing. The same thing is happening on my iPad as well, it's slightly frustrating to be honest and I would love to know that there was an easy solution. Has anyone else been having this issue? I just uninstalled the FB app to see if that would work but, nothing helped. Any suggestions would be great.
Hello! I just got a new laptop, and am ready to transfer my music/iTunes to it from my old one. I vaguely remember the steps to do this from a few years ago (consolidating the library), but the last time I did that, I ran into a big problem.
Some time ago, I wanted to use iTunes to consolidate all the music on my laptop onto an external drive to free up space. It was going well at first, but about halfway through, it encountered a file that it for some reason deemed had too long a file name. This stopped the whole consolidation, leaving half my library seen/copied onto the external, and the other half (and all the other music that had successfully copied) still on my laptop.
What do I do to make sure this doesn't happen again? I have no idea which track had the length issue, and I have tens of thousands of songs, so there's no telling if it'd happen with another.
We have (3) Windows computers in our home, all of which are authorized under a single account. I'd like to house all content on a single computer, yet allow the other two computers to access (create their own playlists, sync with iOS devices, etc.). How can this be accomplished? Store the media in the Windows Public folder of the main computer? Use iTunes Home Sharing?
So it's been a while since I have purchased anything from I tunes. The other night I purchased a cd and went to download to my 1\80 gig classic and it sent it to the cloud . I have been trying to recover it for a week .Do you have to have an apple device to do this I am old school and this is very frustrating I just want to get the music not have to go through all the bs to do it. My new laptop won't even recognize the device so I am using my old pc I have uninstalled I tunes and reinstalled it. Any help.
I have an iPod classic 80gb (6th gen) with the latest software running on a Mac. I'm enduring some problems with the iPod. The problem that bothers me the most is that my iPod occasionally freezes for about 10-20 seconds. The audio keeps playing but every other function is temporary unavailable. The other problem occurs after a reboot (when I hold menu+select or if the battery dies). After the reboot it seems that the settings are restored to factory settings because I always get the language select screen at first and the click noise is back on (I always have it turned off).
I've tried to restore my iPod via iTunes and I've also re-formatted my iPod with the Disk Utility program on my Macbook. Would this classify as a software problem or a hardware problem. If it's a hardware problem then I would like to know if I can fix it by either replacing the logic board or the HDD?

I recently got a 80gb Ipod classic. I can get about 7gb of music on before it just stops loading. I use copy trans manager because most of my isn't on my Itunes. I have windows vista on my laptop. My music is on an extrenal hd. I know the problem is not the hd and Ipod sharing the same drive letter.

In previous versions of iTunes I was able to organize audiobook series together by setting the album title to a series name. When I recently moved my iTunes folder to a new hard drive all of my media files were reorganized...now they're by author. Is there a way force the organization back to the way I prefer it? Is there a different field in iTunes 12.01 that will override the author sorting.
This isn't just a problem in the organization on the hard drive but also in the display. For example, James Patterson is listed as co-author on the Private series of books. They don't have the same co-author. In previous versions of iTunes all of the books in the Private series (or album - because that is the field I used to drive this) would be listed together under one album. Now I have have several entries with the same album title.
My friend has a Samsung galaxy phone and can send and receive texts to others. She can send me texts which I receive but she's not receiving any of my texts.
She's on USA Celluar and I have a iPhone 6 plus on ATT. I get all of here texts and I can send texts to others, but she's not getting any of mine. I've deleted all her texts and her contact information, rebooted my phone but she'll still not getting my texts yet my calls to her go through. I stopped at the ATT store and was able to text bother the techs Samsung and iPhone but both are on ATT.
We have been texting just fine since Decemeber with our current phones. The problem seems to have started right after I synced by iPhone to my PC last Friday night.
Any ideas? Is there a better forum for this type of question?
Still getting error message "the file itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes". I have tried every fix I could find that is supposed to fix this problem. Why cant I make itunes think its a fresh install on my PC. If I install itunes for the first time on any PC, it obviously creates a compatible .itl file that it can work with. When I downgraded to v11.7 (yes v12 ***** badly) I deleted every apple folder, and uninstalled all other apple software that was on my PC, but still it wants to reference a file that doesnt even exist anymore. I have tried holding shift while I start itunes, but still itunes wont even start, and I get the above error.
How do I make ITunes think it has never been installed on my PC before so it will just make its own **** .itl file. Do I have to clean up some registry entry?

I don't have big hands. Most of the time I can't use 6 plus with a single hand.
But it's just so inconvenient that when you are using the phone, no hand is left to do anything else!

I got some helpful advice on this forum regarding my ultimately successful attempt to replace the battery in my mom's iPod. I figured I'd solicit some more on my own.
I have a 6th Gen 160 GB, and it's worked well for me for the past 5 years or so. Recently the hold button started being wonky, and I foolishly kept using it. About a month ago it got stuck in the lock position - it can be moved, but it clearly has no effect - I can feel it engage when put in the lock position, but there's no feeling of engaging when moved into the unlock position, and indeed the iPod doesn't register it.
These days I mostly use my iPod in my car, and can control it from my car radio. So option 1 is just to leave it like that.
Option two is to open it up and replace the hold button/headphone jack. Opening the 5 wasn't exactly easy, and the 6 seems harder. For the cost of ordering the part and risk of breaking the components inside, is it worthwhile?
Option 3 is to pay someone to fix it (I haven't ordered the part yet). There's a lot of options there, opinions welcome.
Another question, if I'm opening it up, is whether I (or a repair service) should put a 240 gb hdd or new battery in (current battery life is pretty good for a 5 year old iPod).
Anyhow, opinions welcome. All options are decent as long as it doesn't end up broken. It's not exactly replaceable anymore...

I opened up my iPod 5th Gen to replace the battery (replacement is a Lenmar PMPAI5G3), since I was only getting 5 minutes of playing time at this point. I think it all went okay, but when I closed it up and plugged it in, I got a "Please wait very low battery" error message. I've had it charging off a wall charger for multi hours but it doesn't go away. Opening the iPod was a pain and I don't really want to reopen it unnecessarily...do people think it's a problem with the battery, my rewiring, or was damage done?
Google isn't helping. I played a YouTube video that has a stereo test, left and right channel audio. I heard both channels as when they individually played. But from what I thought, the 6 plus does not have stereo speakers. What is the scoop?

Hi everyone! I'm new to this, so sorry if this has already been covered - although it is very confusing so I doubt it has!!
I have an Acer laptop, that had my iTunes on it which was set up with my iPad and my iPods before that.
Then a few years ago, my mum got a iPhone. She needed an iTunes to set it up, so after getting advise from an Apple shop, I created a new library within my iTunes for her iPhone. I also did the same when I got my own iPhone. So there are now 3 librarys linked to 1 iTunes - I have my own iTunes username and password and my mum has her own.
About 5 months ago, I bought an iMac, but I have been too scared to try and somehow transfer my iTunes from my laptop to my iMac! Anyway, after some more advice from the Apple shop, I finally bit the bullet and I purchased an external hard drive and copied all of my music to the hard drive. I then "added to library" onto my iMac, and it worked!
My question is - now what?! I know I need to plug my iPad into my iMac and sync it (yes?) but how do I remove my library from my laptop but still keep my mums library for her phone? Can I even remove it or will that delete her library?
My wife and I currently share an iTunes Library with all of our combined music on it -- some of it originally purchased with my Apple ID, and some of it with hers. All of the physical music files reside on our Mac mini (running Yosemite), which serves as our home desktop computer; all other Apple devices (2 iPhones, 1 iPad, 2 MacBooks, 2 Apple TVs) access that music via a single iTunes Match subscription, which is set up for my Apple ID.
That's all great, except on my wife's devices (iPhone and iPad), she would prefer to see only her music. She finds it difficult to wade through all of my albums to get to her music, and setting up playlists to point to just her music seems cumbersome. Is there an easier way to do this:
Using a second library?
Using a second iTunes Match subscription?
Using Family Sharing?
Using some other method?
Using some combination of the above?
If possible, I'd prefer to keep all the physical audio files on our one computer, and not have to create duplicates. If anyone has any creative suggestions, I'd really appreciate it.

I have the old (probably first gen) iPod Shuffle- it looks like a white flash drive with just the on/off, volume, forward and back controls. I can't control the order of songs played but I don't care. It is small and light and great for my exercise walks. Someone gave it to me nearly about 10 years ago and I have no documentation on it. I rarely use it and only for about 1 hour at a time. It finally stopped playing music so I figured it needed to be charged. I plugged it in to my laptop USB port and left it plugged in for a long time. It said the synch with my iTunes was complete and I could disconnect. It has a yellow and a green light that flash. I can't tell if it is charged and it doesn't play music anymore, and I don't know what the lights mean. I really like it because it has my oldies on it and would like to get it to work again. Can anyone help me?

For me, I watched the The Fast and the Furious 7 for the second time with my friend last night. Both of us love it very much and I would give it a rate of 9.
Old PC died.Luckily had back up of music on external hard drive (EHD). Bought a new laptop. Laptop intermittently allowed access to EHD. New laptop died within 2 weeks. Got replacement laptop. Replacement can not access EHD. Discover EHD only runs up to MS XP. Find PC at work with XP that tells me that EHD may now be corrupted. Computers get changed at work. I go on holiday, old PC with XP at work scrapped.
I try to add new music to ipod via Itunes on replacement laptop, told that there is an error with ipod and it needs to be reset. Ipod actually works fine.
Ipod has 7+ years of selected music, with 85% songs rated. It has 42 playlists, including playlists based on ratings, with hundreds of legitamate free songs and limited edition remixes from a website that no-longer exists, as well as lots of songs purchased during the coca-cola & itunes promotion and songs from bands , signed and unsigned that I interviewed many years ago that I know I've lost the CDs of.
I am quite happy to let itunes reset my ipod but obviously first I need to backup the songs,playlists and ratings given that it is highly likely I will never be able to recover the music from my EHD.
I'm in the enviable position of having a modest budget to buy some equipment to set up a travelling podcast/live radio show. The general idea is that I have a group of students at my college who are doing a specialty subject radio show in their field of study. It's being broadcast on the local campus station.
We want, next year, to start doing the show live, not just from our school (in the student lounge) but also take it on the road to other colleges and get other schools' students and faculty on the show as well. Also to get it put out as a podcast on top of the regular campus radio broadcast.
The station uses Nicecast and a Mac laptop for remote broadcasts, but our crew is quite a bit bigger than what they can accommodate -- five or six people might contribute to a given show. There's also, given that it's a campus station with shared resources, never a great guarantee that equipment will be both available and functional when needed.
I need to propose a budget to buy a dedicated road kit that our radio people can use to set up a 5-6 person live podcast. They don't need the computer but will need a USB mixer and enough mics and stands to accommodate them.
The show is talk-only -- no music, no sound effects.
The last time I bought audio gear, phantom power was a big deal. I don't know from USB mixers and mics and where the sweet spot between price and performance might be for this kind of setup. So I'm looking for recommendations. Got any?

I recently purchased a Rode Podcaster USB Condenser Microphone and want to get a desktop mic stand for it. The reviews for the Rode DS1 Desktop Mic Stand are not all that great with many saying that the mic topples because the stand is not weighted correctly. Can anyone recommend another RODE compatible desktop mic that is reasonably priced?

So my friend and I recently started Pie Factory Podcast (link in my sig), covering two arcade video games every week. We discuss our memories of these games as well as some strategies, quirks, and other aspects of gameplay.
Having said that...one of our listeners is reporting that iTunes is automatically re-downloading episodes ad infinitum. His workaround was to unsubscribe and resubscribe, but the issue eventually manifests itself again.
Is that indicating a problem with the feed, or an iTunes setup problem???
Hello, everyone. I have a 32 GB iPod Touch, which I believe is 5th Generation. If it helps to know the actual model number, it is MD723LL/A. It is running iOS 8.3 to the best of my knowledge.
May I please ask two questions?
1. I would like to disable screen rotation and keep the device in Portrait mode. I’ve done a Google search to find out how, and have read several sites, as well as watched a few You Tube videos. I’ll be darned if I can see a Rotation Lock button or anything like that. I’m wondering if the documentation I read pertained to earlier versions of the model, or operating system. How do you do this, please?
The second question is a bit more important to me.
2. Sometimes when I play music and I hold the iPod, the screen changes to what looks like a black checkerboarded series of tiles. I've tried to research this screen and haven't figured out what causes it or how to prevent it. Does anyone know how to prevent this sort of screen from appearing? I would prefer to lock the screen so the default screen that displays the album cover, title, etc. stays put.
I apologize if I haven't quite explained what the screen looks like well enough.
Hello! I had a question about songs from a certain album skipping strangely.
Whenever I play songs from this specific album, when the song gets to 1 minute and 20 seconds, the counter will jump from 1:20 to the ending time of the song and then skip to the next song in the shuffle list. I thought it might have been the formatting of the song, so I tried converting each file to AAC version, but it only converted a minute and 20 seconds of it. This happened to every song in the album and no other songs.
I then tried playing the songs in different media players to see if it was the files itself that were corrupted, but they played fine in both VLC and Windows Media Player. I also tried deleting the songs from iTunes and then dragging them back in from a different place so that iTunes would recognize them as different songs, but that also did not work.
Also, if I skip past 1:20 on the song, it plays perfectly fine from there. No skipping or anything, just finishes the song out as if nothing strange ever happened. Super weird. It only happens when it hits 1:20.
I am on Windows 7 running iTunes 12.1.2. Any help or suggestions would be sincerely appreciated -- thank you very much!!!
