Sort chronological on iPod Classic

Hello: With using folders and playlists by creating the folders and playlists in iTunes, how would I be able to sort in chronological order?



For example, here is the list of live shows by The Grateful Dead, and the below list is in chronological order by live show date and not chronological by album release date. So, may I please ask how would this list be sorted the same way? Thank you!! I have the iPod Classic 160GB, so it gives 148GB.

Songs not staying on iphone " playlist empty on phone? *advice needed

Have an iPhone 6 64gb and when I add phone to computer via usb and pull up iTunes.







Then I start making playlist folders and playlists under those folders and starting adding away.....( lots of music) then all of a sudden I go in playlist I added before and there's an " ! " mark and I check phone and there not in there.... it happens every time and it kills me that I have to keep doing it I wasted 2 hours with it.





Im dragging and dropping not syncing so my "manage audio manually is checked" also ITUNES and IPhone is 100% updated. I releize the playlists are in phone but empty... all I know when I see " updating files to iPhone" they end up disappearing. Attempted 6 times and its driving me crazy



AUTO SYNC is off, manually manage audio is checked, and I know it works because I look when I first added it and it was there and boom it all of sudden " !" adds to all my songs. NO im not moving the file location so I have no idea what it could be. I need help

iTunes down.. error 7 (windows error 193)

Hi,



Following problem;

Since 17th February having this problem with iTunes..

It's failing to start up.



When i try starting it, it keeps giving me this error;;



"iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.

Error 7 (Windows error 193)."



and this one;



"iTunesHelper was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes.



Error 7".



Reinstalled iTunes several times (deleting all folders too), but didn't work.

I allready did all the possible Windows updates, several scans, ..



I did noticed something, in my "Services" Apple Mobile Device Service is stopped, i can't start it.

Keep getting in error that it cant read the assignment.



"Can't start Apple Mobile Device Service-service on your local computer.

Error 1053"



Please help!

iTunes 7

I'm running windows XP and iTunes 7 which until recently has worked very well. However now when I load a CD, iTunes displays all tracks out of numerical order and I don't seem to find a way of altering it. There is a way of altering all of the other columns but nothing that I can see that will alter the track number order. I feel sure that I have missed something very simple., please could someone point me in the right direction.

I have a 160gb ipod classic. I need to purchase a dock adapter/insert. Whilst searching Apple's site, I notice 2 different 160gb ipods were released, each using a different dock insert.



How can I tell which one I have? It has been too long since I've purchased it for me to remember :confused:

320 kbps to 192 kbps conversion automatic?

I download all of my songs in glorious 320 kbps, and recently I made a disheartening discovery: when I put my 320 kbps songs on my 32GB iPod, then look at my iPod list of songs, all those songs appear to be 192 kbps! Wtf :confused:! I'm kind of an audiophile and for all the effort I put into finding 320 kbps songs, I don't want to settle for 192 :shake:. Is there a setting somewhere I can change to make it not automatically convert it down? Thanks!

NAS with iTunes server?

I need to buy a NAS for various reasons, one of them being to store my iTunes collection on it as it’s outgrowing my PC.



Many NAS claim to offer an "iTunes" server, but I'm a little confused as to exactly what this means?



As far as I can make out, any NAS can be mapped as a network drive, assigned a drive number and then all I need to do is:



Keep iTunes Media Folder Organised

Change Media Folder Location (to NAS drive)

Organise Library

Consolidate Files



And all my media will be on the NAS and work in exactly the same way as it did when stored on my PC?



If this is correct, then what other advantages are there to having something like a Synology or QNAP NAS with a built in iTunes server? Does it mean I can stream content to my Airplay receiver via a smartphone without having a PC or Mac running iTunes?



I’m running iTunes on a PC. A lot of my music is ripped to Apple Lossless, so I want to keep using iTunes rather than DLNA. The most important thing for me is to keep all the metadata and artwork, which I’ve put in hours of manual work to correctly name tracks, add artwork and remove duplicates etc.

trouble viewing items in playlist

The names of the play lists in the playlist tabs is so faint it is very hard to read. I have specified large print in the iTunes preferences. Is there any way to make this screen more readable. This is not good for old eyes like mine.

New PC, old email on Ipod

Please be patient and gentle. I'm close to going back to a cave as it is. :(



I had a PC with an IPod Classic working fine with iTunes.



I did not use iTunes for a very long time, over a year.



I got a new PC and the techi said he transferred everything over to it from my old one.



I tried to buy some music yesterday and found out the new PC did not have iTunes on it.



I tried to get iTunes on the new PC but had forgotten my user name and password.



I created a new user name and password and all seemed fine with the new PC. I bought a bunch of music and iTunes also replaced all the old music I had bought years ago onto my new PC, along with the new music I had just purchased. All seems good with the new PC. So far so good.



I hooked up my iPod Classic to my new P.C.



The two devices tried to sync. Each effort resulted in a statement something to the effect that I would loose some of my songs if I didn't authorize something. I chose to "authorize" and my old email address with earthlink came up. I entered my new email address (that I used with the new PC download of iTunes) and my new password. It did not work and efforts became circular.



As a lay person, my guess is that I need to get my iPod name and password changed somehow to comport with my PC but I don't know how. I can't use my old email address because, if iTunes sent me a confirmation I wouldn't get it and I don't remember my password from way back then.



Can someone walk me through this? As stated, my PC and iTunes seem good and up to date. I merely want to get my iPod syncing with my PC.

Iphon4 6 problem syncing

I have the iPhone 6 and the latest iTunes version and Windows 8.1

When I connect my phone to PC and iTunes an error message comes on saying "your iPhone can not be synced because of an unknown error -54"

Moving contacts to new iCloud account

Only some of my contacts from my Mac are on my phone. My notes are not on my phone.



When I go to System Preferences then iCloud, I see my account (howardbrazee@icloud.com) has everything checked. When I click on Manage Family, I see my wife, my iTunes account, and my iCloud account.



When I look at my Contacts preference, I see my both my wife's and my iCloud account enabled, with mine as primary, and everything checked except her mail.



When I click on my iPhone within iTunes, and look at "Info", it says my contacts and calendars are being synced with my iPhone over the air from iCloud".



When I look at iCloud in Finder, I don't see any files - I used to use my wife's iCloud (so I could update contacts for her), but I don't see files he has there - even though I shared some folders from her computer with me.



When I look at settings on my phone, I see that my iCloud setting is my iCloud account, with everything turned on - except "Keychain" is "Pending". "Notes" is turned on, but are empty, while "Notes" on my Mac are populated with the same notes that are on my wife's computer.



Both my phone and my Mac have the same messages using my iCloud account.



I have rebooted my Mac and my iPhone several times.



My iPad still is connected to my wife's iCloud and sees the notes and full contacts file. iTunes shows it synchronizing "All contacts" and "All calendars" And there are *lots* of greyed out selected calendars.



I don't know how to get the rest of my contacts from my Mac to my iPhone. I don't know how to get notes from my Mac to my iPhone. And I don't know how to access the files on my wife's iCloud drive.

iPod Touch 4th Gen Music Help

So, I was putting music into my iPod today and when I unplugged my iPod after ejecting it, all my music disappeared. My iTunes does not auto-sync my music and the music still shows up on iTunes when I plug in my iPod, just not on the iPod itself. Any help please?

IPOD blank but showing up in iTunes

All of a sudden my IPOD(plugged in USB port went blank) I thought that meant I had lost everything but it is showing up in iTunes saying all my songs podcasts and movies are still on it. iPod Classic 120GB Screen Freezing

The screen is constantly frozen, the only way I can progress through the menus on the iPod is by selecting an option by listening to the sound as I scroll down the menu. I then select an option, hold the play button to dim the screen, hit the play button again to light the screen up and then the iPod will be on the next screen of whatever I chose to go into.



Also, when connected to the charger, the animation for the battery charging doesn't work unless I constantly move my finger round the dial.



Whenever connected to my PC I get this error code:



Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)



Due to this I have no way to factory reset the device although I'm not even sure if that would fix the issue... Any help would be appreciated!

Ipod touch 5th gen help

Hey guys.



I bought a new iPod today, the 5th gen blue one. I wanted to know if there was a way the way I see the music? When i click on music, i click on artist it shows me the songs by albums and not in A-Z order like my previous Ipod did? Normally you open up music, click on artist (at the bottom), click on the name of the artist on your iPod, click all songs and the songs come up in alphabetical order. On the 5th gen you click on artist and their not in alphabetical order?





Anyway to change it.

Ipod shutting down w/low battery

I have an Ipod 5 with a battery problem. It'll play but it'll shut down with 3/4 battery. Sometimes it'll warn that the ipod is out of battery life but the indicator will say it's full. I tried replacing the battery but it is still doing the same thing. Any suggestions?

Help with Audio

Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum, I've been podcasting just coming up to 4 years and was wondering if you could help with our audio set up.

We currently have 4 hosts 2 locally and 2 on Skype.

I'm using a a behringer xenyx 1002 mixer, Skype is all hooked up through the mixer using mix minus coming out of the mixer in to an external soundcard and in to a separate laptop.



But I'm having trouble with the audio levels between our Skype hosts and us.



I would appreciate any help on the matter.

iPhone + iPad recognition issue

Hi.

Not sure if this is the right subforum, but I've just returned from a 10-day holiday to find that iTunes on my PC desktop (Windows 8.1, iTunes 12.1.0.71) won't recognise my iPad or iPhone, but will recognise my iPod Classic for which everything is working normally.

On plugging the iDevices in I get a 'click to indicate what windows should do with this device' notification on the PC, and the iPhone buzzes, but nothing shows up in the iTunes device bar.

I'm using an Apple USB cable directly in to a USB3 port on the PC system unit..

I get a 'Trust this computer?'message on both devices, but this has no efefct.

The iPhone and the iPad currently have OS 8.1.2. Should I update both the devices OSs? Should I do this while plugged into the PC?

Any advice most welcome!

Downgrade iPad 3 from 8.1.3 to 6.1.3

Hello all, it's been a long time since I've frequented these forums.



I'm having an issue trying to downgrade my iPad 3 to an earlier iOS. iOS 8 is ridiculously slow on my iPad and while it came with iOS 5 installed I figured I'd install 6 just to have some newer features.



I have an iPad 3 CDMA. I'm working with a 2008 MacBook laptop running snow leopard (of which ever was the last thing I could upgrade to for that matter) and iTunes 12. I downloaded 2 different iOS 6 restore ipsw files and when I start the restore process it gets all the way to the end of the status bar for "extracting" in iTunes, then comes up with an error saying something like it is not compatible for my device. Is this something that doesn't workin less you have an old copy of iTunes installed?



Any help would be appreciated.



Also, I'm curious, for those that have successfully downgraded, were you able to download the last versions of the apps that work with that iOS? Just want to make sure I can at least download some apps for it once I get it going.

Music being stored as Other

Recently, whenever i try to put music on my 160GB ipod from itunes, it will say it has synced but when i disconnect my ipod, there will be no music on the ipod but the data will be being stored as Other data instead.



I have found that if i put the music on an artist at a time then disconnect then the music will be on the ipod. But after a while of doing this, it will go back to having no music and all of the music i have tried putting on there being stored under other. This doesn't always happen with the same artist, it varies each time.



I have restored the ipod multiple times to no avail. Has anyone had this problem? And if so have you managed to solve it?

iPod not recognised by computer but otherwise OK

I've recently taken my iPod Video out of the drawer after many years of non-action and it charges the battery and can play music fine but it is not recognised by any computer I've tried. I've tried it on a 2007 iMac, a 2014 MacBook air and a Dell laptop running Windows 7. I've also tried several different cables with no luck. My iPhone 4, iPod Color and iPod Nano all work fine on any one of the above combinations.



When I plug it into a Windows machine it attempts to install the driver, then fails. When I try it on a Mac I get The IOUSBFamily was not able to enumerate a device if I run sudo dmesg in a terminal window. Looking at System Profiler it doesn't appear under the list of USB devices. So it seems there is something amiss with the USB side of things. The dock connector looks ok and it charges fine whether I plug it into a USB port on a computer use a power adaptor.



I've also tried all the usual tricks - resetting, putting it into disk mode and looking through the service menu. When I did a USB test I get ID=0x22FA05 but I have no idea if this is normal. Under Settings/About the model number reported is PA446X which doesn't seem quite right but I'm not 100% sure what it should be.



I've done a bit of research and it seems I'm not alone in this kind of problem, which goes years back, but I've not seen a solution. As I said, it otherwise works fine but not being able to connect it to anything means I can't load new songs or do much else with it.



Anybody got any ideas apart from giving my local Apple Store a visit?

Music App keeps losing my audio book!

This is difficult to even explain so, hopefully, it will make sense.



I HATE the Music app! I have lots of audio books I've recorded from CDs and that's what I enjoy (along with podcasts).



For whatever reason, it seems like the Music App wants to make this difficult for me. Somehow, I've got one audio book in Music and another one is actually under Audio Books. And, it's the one that's under Audio Books that keeps causing me problems.



So, I'll find my book and start listening. Everything is fine until I stop to do something else and then return to the Music App. I will briefly see the chapter I was playing, but before I can select it to continue playing, it disappears and now I see "album covers" and/or titles of the things I have under "Music." The actual covers will be sitting straight up on the screen, but the titles will be tilted at an angle. I know! It's really weird.



And, no matter what I do, I cannot get back to any kind of menu. If I select one of the covers or the titles, it does take me to the correct book from there (these are all things that under Music), but there's no way to get to audio books and back to what I was originally listening to.



So, I will have to close that screen and get to the list of open apps where I can close Music completely. Then I can start over again and it usually brings up all my menus so I can access audio books again.



What on earth is going on?

How do I tell it to play 2 albums back to back?

Let's say I want my iPod to play two Robin Trower albums one right after the other. Not schuffle. First I want to hear Robin Trower Live and then after that is done I want to hear For Earth Below.



How do I tell my iPod to play like this? Or can't I?

Is there some trick to inserting album art?

I have had little luck with getting album art for CDs and after using iTunes, got about 40%



Using CleanUP increased this to about 80% but I have been trying to insert the art manually in GET INFO (after finding the artwork on line) for the remaining ones.



However, doing it this way only allows me to add about one picture in 5 to the data in GET INFO. After a while no artwork is saved when you press SAVE.



Is there some trick involved please? Or what usually prevents GET INFO from saving album artwork you are trying to add manually please?

iphones wifi stops working when audio cable is plugged in

Hi



I have a really weird problem here.



My extra iPhone 4s i'm using for playing music, Spotify etc. etc (Streaming)

is working alright.

But if i plug in a audio cable in the headphone plug, the wifi stops working ???

This is really weird and i have tried 2 iPhones now and it's the same problem.

How can that happen. I hope you understand what i mean.

The iPhone is connected to my home WIFI and working fine. As soon as i plug in the audio cable for my speakers. The iPhone looses it's wifi connection.

I have never experience anything like this before and i'm sure my iPhone is fine because it happen on 2 different iPhones.



Please if anyone have a solution.



P.S It is NOT headphones. Its when i plug a audio cable from my speakers !!!

Itunes displaying in a different way after removing duplicates

The current version is proving very acceptable to me and I have had no problems in using it at all.



I checked the duplicate situation today and saw that despite best efforts there were a few. It happens...... I guess.



After I have loaded details from a CD, I take the CD out and the program displays next page with a nice tight list or lists. That was what used to happen!



This time all the information is there but there are spaces between entries that were not there before. This means at least the equivalent of 5 lines or so betweeen each entry.



One track displayed, all details and lot of screen space and next item appears random rather than part of the block of information I used to get with all details of an album.



I cannot isolate the con:confused:trol to go back to normal display



Difficult to explain!!!!

Soundcheck FUBAR'd my music library, please help.

So, I can't remember why iTunes suddenly started analyzing (sound-checking) my entire music library -- but it started to.



As many of you know, once it goes down that rabbit hole, you can't stop it.



Well, now all of my songs have this incredibly annoying random volume reduction.



I can't undo it.



Yes, I have unchecked / turned off Soundcheck option.



Please help me.

Itunes 12 Podcasts don't download automatically

I am pretty certain this problem didn't exist for me before Itunes 12.





When I launch Itunes, it shows the latest episodes but leaves them in the cloud.





So I'm clicking the cloud icon with the down arrow to get them onto my hard drive. Annoying for sure - imagine having to do that to every single episode that comes in as new but instead of downloading like it use to it just hangs in the cloud.



Maybe I'm doing something wrong



Any help is much appreciated. Last year (for example) the podcasts would download automatically like they are supposed to. That's all I want. I'd like my settings to work how they should.



If I leave Itunes open 24/7 the problem doesn't exist, but why should I have to do that?

Ipod not recognized (windows XP, 7 and 8)

I have a mayor problem with my Ipod Classic 160GB (late 2009)



It won't connect to my PC anymore, whenever I try to connect it via USB it just says "USB device not recognized"



One of the USB devices attached tot this computer has malfunctioned etc.



It shows up in Device manager as an unknown device but nothing more than that.



What I already tried:

• Disk mode (keeps saying OK to Disconnect


• Reset (menu ans select buttons) muiltiple times


• Removing All USB devices (my keyboard even stopped working) and restarting


• Uninstalling iTunes and all Apple related software


• Deleting some registry keys


• Installing older legacy iTunes versions


• Different USB porst, hubs, cables and computers with different windows versions


• Diagnostics (everything seems to work)

I'm completely desperate for an answer on how to solve my problem been searching for 2 weeks now but no sollution helps.

The iPod seems to work Ok for the rest though, it plays music and all functions on the iPod itself work.

Defaulted Media File

Hello

I backed up my Ipod periodically and then lost data.

I purchased an external hard drive and placed all of my media on it and have it connected by a dock and usb to my laptop. I them copied all of the media to my library and changed my media location to F: Music (external drive).

I don’t have any issues with my ITunes media being on an external. I create playlists and listen or view movies from them.

The issue is that my Ipod Classic reverts back to the default media location on its own. This causes the exclamation point on my media that is in ITunes and I have to re-associate them to the location on my external hard drive.

How do I stop the ITunes from returning to the default media location? Or how do I keep the media location as the external hard drive?

search results: greyed out

In my iTunes 12.1.0.71, the search results are greyed out after typing them in the search box. They are non-functional (one can't select them).



Songs that appear in the search results do not appear in the music library (after searching for them alphabetically).



I would like to be able to select the search results.

Don't understand these messages

I keep getting two annoying popup messages on my computer One says: iCloudPassword Please enter your passwordforhtm*******. I'm not sure why this message is popping up I am not sure what the cloud is and if I even have the Cloud. Our MAC got updated from Safari to Yosemite and that's when I started getting the popup which comes up only on my (side) identity. Also I keep getting this annoying popup on both identities my wife's and mine " Do you want the application"iTUNES.app"to accept incoming network connections? Clicking Deny may limit the application's behavior. This setting can be changed in the firewall pane of Security &Privacy preferences. I keep hitting allow and it still keeps popping up on both identities I changed the firewall preferences it still kept popping up. HELP these messages are becoming annoying. Never had any of these until we updated our MAC operating system.

Really Hate iTunes

Is there anyway of storing MP3 files on the iPad Air without using iTunes? All I want to do is put my music in a folder and take it with me and/or play to my Sonos system. iTunes messes with the mixes and tracks.

iTunes "random" in how artwork is treated - can anyone help?

I am wrestling with this because I want artwork to work properly in my car (using BMW iDrive).



I have previously been using an iPod Classic, which treated artwork perfectly with no "no-shows", but it's a known problem that iPod Classics are prone to freezing in BMWs so I am trying to migrate to a USB flash drive. Of my appr. 15,000 tracks, I'd say about 5% show up with no artwork, but I just can't figure out what causes this and why I am unable to fix it. Here's what I've found out from my own testing:



- I've identified the tracks affected and put them in a playlist (they are both AAC and mp3 and both types seem to be affected equally badly)

- I've reviewed these tracks in tagr (Mac) and mp3tag (Windows in Fusion). In the beginning, most of these would show artwork in tagr, but many would be blank in mp3tag. Through trying to fix this in iTunes, I've now come to a point where all these tracks show artwork in both tagr and mp3tag (although I notice that the cover differs between being labeled as front or other in mp3tag)

- However, when bringing these tracks to the car, most still do not show artwork, and I've been playing around with various ways (in iTunes, to avoid risking corrupting the library) to fix this:



- Delete the artwork and re-paste it - seems to have no effect

- Delete and use the Add artwork button to locate both png and jpg files - no effect

- Convert ID3tag, first to none, then to various versions (2.4, 2.3, 2.2), then add artwork - this can in some cases fix it, but certainly not always

- Use the DougScript Re-embed artwork - no effect



So I am truly puzzled at both how iTunes handles the artwork and how the car reads artwork since this seems so random! Does anyone have insights that could help?
