I'm looking for your opinions on which brand of case that fits the iPod Touch 5th Generation. I currently have an Otterbox that's white casing and gray rubber exterior. Going for my road test (stop sign help)

The main one I have is one that I think I have an answer to, but I’m not sure, When there is a stop sign a few feet before an intersection, followed by a white line, do I still need to stop at the sign, or just stop at the line?

Really wish I HADN'T upgraded to iOS 8.4 - Music Related

I've been using Apple devices for almost ten years now, and have always been satisfied, but this time they've really done it.

I use my iPhone to listen to music at work, and have it set-up to where I'll roughly go through my whole song library shuffled once each work-week.

I delayed upgrading, but not for any particular reason. When I finally did the other day, I noticed that the music app had been completely overhauled. It took me several minutes to figure out how to even get my shuffle started. That's annoying enough, but what I'm really annoyed with is how when I close the music app out of the background (which I always close everything out of the background when I'm not using it), it now forgets my place in the shuffle and I have to start it all over again! On all of the old iOS's it saved my spot!

Why did Apple think this was a good idea? Am I going to have to pull out my old iPhone 4S that hasn't been updated so I can listen to music at work again? :o That's majorly annoying! I only have so much space in these tiny little things they call pockets for us women. D:

Moved From Ireland To USA. iTunes Nightmare!

Hi All,

I've moved from the Ireland to the US. I have a big problem with iTunes. Being on a new IP address at my new home, iTunes naturally wants to confirm my payment, ect to ensure I'm not being hacked. Sadly, I lost my wallet and all Irish credit cards almost a soon as I got here (Fell out of my pocket in a cafe). This means, I can not confirm my credit card as I can not remember the security code.

What I would like to do is change my region to US and simply add my US credit card. This seems impossible at the moment though, as I have €0.07 in my account. I can not buy anything for that price, and I can not add funds with my lost credit card.

As I also use and iPhone, it means I can not download any new apps!

As you guess, this is very frustrating! Can anyone offer any help?

Was I hacked?

My phone was charging with the screen off & suddenly I hear a beep. I then noticed typing of words streaming across the screen. I reached for my phone and instinctively hit the button (before reading a word) and it all disappeared. I checked all open programs and there was nothing. So strange - any ideas?

Best Application for Restoring iTunes Library from iPod

Hi All.

I recently lost my External HDD that contained all of my iTunes Music/Playlists etc.

So I am wanting to restore my iTunes Library from my iPod (is an iPod Classic, 4th Generation, 80 Gig; I think) and was wondering what might be the best application for this purpose (eg - CopyTrans or)?

Some songs burn and not others. New.

I like to burn random music CD's for my car. I have been doing this for years. Always a different playlist.
Recently and especially today I can no longer burn some songs but can burn others. The CD will burn 8 songs instead of the 14 I told it to burn. They are just grayed out as it is burning.

This is odd.

I have Mac OS 10.8.5 and iTunes 11.4 and do not want to upgrade the OS at all. Ever. iTunes maybe if it will resolve this.

Any help will be most appreciative as I posted on Apple's forums and they don't seem interested in helping.

I have an iMac 11,2 running OS X 10.6.8. i'm using iTunes 11.0.. I have songs on an 8GB 6gen iPod Nano, given to me by my girlfriends son. Songs were attached to a PC thats not in service anymore. How can I transfer the songs to the iMac and put fresh tunes on the iPod?

Ipod nano 7th gen, play one podcast and then stop

My old 5th generation nano has the ability to play just one podcast or song and then stop. The 7th gen nano doesn't seem to be able to do that it either wants to move on to the next episode/song or repeat the same one again.

Moving selected apps from PC to iphone

I have enough apps to fill up my iphone many times over so regular syncing isn't an option for me. I would like to move only a handful of apps from iTunes on my PC to my iPhone. I know I could just go to the app store and download apps individually (something I normally do now) but the problem is that many of the apps I have such as learning games in foreign languages are no longer being sold on the app store so that my iTunes library is the only place I can get them from! : (
Is there any way to send only a few apps from iTunes on my PC to my phone without iTunes trying to send the whole library over?
Is there perhaps a user-friendly 3rd party program that does this?

all music gone?

Sorry if this has already been asked.

I am a long time ITunes match user. I keep most of my music on the computer. Suddenly, about the same time I enrolled in Apple Music, my Itunes shows all music is in the cloud, nothing local. I tried updating to the newest Itunes, version 12.2.1.16, but still the same. I didn't move anything, nothing changed.

Is there a fix for this, or am I looking at redownloading all my music?

Tips For Organizing Music

I've garnered so much info from this forum that I thought I'd give back and offer some neat ideas I've used to help me get my music organized on my PC's iTunes. My library has all of my music, but it also has my wife's and daughter's. It was cumbersome to scroll thru the entire library when I wanted to build myself a playlist. So I went ahead and created a second library for the "Girls Music." Unfortunately, I could no longer build a playlist with a variety of all of our music for family cookouts, etc. (I could only choose songs from ONE of the libraries.) So I reverted back to the one-library for all method, but came up with some ways to keep it organized.

SEPERATING MUSIC FOR EACH USER: I wanted to keep my albums separate from the girls', so I decided to alter the seldom-used "GENRE" category. Each song's genre is now either 1-Steve, 2-Family or 3-Girls. Then I choose ALBUM view and sort by genre then artist. Now when I want to browse my music, I can scroll thru just my albums first.

GROUPING SINGLES: It also was cumbersome when one of your favorite artists has one song on a soundtrack or as a single, and it separates itself from the rest of that artist's songs. So I change the properties of those songs so that they are tracks 51, 52, 53... of their closest album, like they are bonus tracks. (i.e. Sheryl Crow's "Real Gone" from the 2006 "Cars" soundtrack becomes track 51 of her 2008 "Detours" album.) This method also allows for fewer albums to browse (especially when loaded onto your iPhone.)

ONLY LIKE ONE OR TWO SONGS FROM ARTIST'S ALBUMS: So often bands' early albums or Past-Their-Prime albums yield only one or two songs you like. Just like the above example, it adds lots of albums to your library when browsing. So I've grouped those songs to my own "Best Of Early Years" or "Late Years" albums of those artists. Or, in some cases, an artist has lots of albums to their resume, but you only like their 10 to 12 hits. So make your own greatest hits of just those songs and when browsing you only see one album of those songs instead of six albums, each with just one or two songs.

USING RATINGS TO HELP BUILD PLAYLISTS: It's quite time consuming to rate every song, but very helpful for building playlists. For example, I have a 2-hour project at home and want to build a playlist to listen to while working. I feel like listening to Genesis. I dump all their songs into my "Work" playlist, but it is six-hours long! So I sort by rating then eliminate all the one-star and two-star songs and it's down to 2 hours. Viola! I then re-sort the playlist by album so they return to chronological order -- which is how I like to listen to my favorite artists (Can you hear me i-Phone engineers!!!)

ONE-HIT WONDERS: Even after all the above sorting methods I am still left with hundreds of songs from the fifties to today by hundreds of different artists. So I built my own "Hits Of The Seventies," "Eighty's," "Classic Rock" etc. compilations. I drag the songs for each category into my "Sorting Bin" playlist, the select the entire list, and change the song info so that they are all from the same "Hits Of" album - I even image-search for album artwork for my fictional compilation album. However, in song view, these will not sort by the artists like I prefer. So I change the track number so that artists that begin with "A" are all track one, "B" are all track 2, etc. They now sort in pseudo-artist order.

5S - Won't Charge...

It appears that the charging port on my 5S has stopped working. I need just one more charge so that I can retrieve my historical data (please don't recommend that I get this from my cloud). Unable to Locate Files after Reformat

Specs:
Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
iTunes 12.2.1.16

Basically, before I reformatted I copied the entire "Music" folder in its entirety to a portable HD. Proceeded to reformat HD, then plopped the entire Music folder back to where I had it. I even used the same username so that C:/Users/<username>/music would be the same. I reinstalled iTunes. I held down the shift key as I popped open iTunes, and located my *.itl from before the move.

...then find 8000+ tracks with exclamation points. I am currently going through every one and pointing to the location manually, so the quicker you can tell me what I did wrong, the more time you will save me, haha.

Where did I go wrong???

I need another way to reset

I have a 4th gen jailbroken ipod that has a broken charging port so therefore cannot connect to iTunes on my pc to reset I tried resetting it from the ipod and it gave me the spinning wheel of death until it died is there any way that I can reset it without the pc?

--Update I tried doing erase ipod from icloud it is now stuck in a loop I press and hold lock and home so it turns back on from the spinning wheel of death and it just tries to reset again

30 Pin headphone adapter??

I am looking for something to use the 30-pin connection on my iPad 2 to use headphones. The headphone jack on my iPad recently broke and instead of spending $70ish to repair, I thought I'd see if this was an option. I would use bluetooth headphones under normal conditions, but I will be going on a trip soon with my girlfriend and we want to watch videos on the long flight together.

EMERGENCY: Attempted to Consolidate & Transfer Library. Failed. Livelihood at RISK.

My full-time DJ/music career will be at stake if I do not fix this issue. I'll try to be as detailed as possible.


iTunes Version: 12.1.2.27
OS: Windows 7

Background:
Prior to my latest attempt to consolidate and move my entire iTunes Music collection, I've tried consolidating in the past before. The result was 1 new iTunes Media folder tree with an incomplete collection. My solution to this was to back-up my old, pre-consolidation iTunes library and use both the newly-created iTunes Media Folder in conjunction with my backed-up iTunes library. The result was having iTunes read all my music from 2 separate locations.

This became an issue because my DJ software, Traktor, was also using the 2 locations for its dedicated music library. For awhile, things were okay. Things were smooth. iTunes and Traktor read my music from both locations with ease, no issues.

Present Day:
My laptop had begun to show signs of breaking down, so naturally my primary worry was saving my iTunes library. My goal and original intention was to merge both the aforementioned newly-created iTunes Media Folder and the old, pre-consolidated iTunes library.

I looked at several methods:

1. Simply Copy both the incomplete iTunes Media Folder & the pre-consolidated iTunes library onto an external HDD, and drag them both into a newly-downloaded iTunes on my new Windows 8.1 laptop (of which I still have not acquired.)
A. I have completed these steps, and both libraries are safe and intact on my external HDD.

2. Merge the 2 aforementioned libraries into 1 consolidated collection, a new iTunes Media Folder. This method would simplify my DJ program reading from 2 locations as well.
A. YES, YOU ANTICIPATED IT. THIS IS WHERE EVERYTHING MESSES UP.

Current Dilemma:
The 2nd method failed. Here is an outline of the steps I took:
1. Changed iTunes Media folder location to F:Consolidated Music Library , aka a specified folder on my external HDD.

2. Checked the boxes for "Keep iTunes Media folder organized" & "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library". OK'd changes made to preferences.

3. Selected Organize Library... option from the File menu, checked "Consolidate Files", (note: the "Reorganize folder..." is greyed out due to my multiple attempts to currently consolidate my library.)

4. The consolidation had completed. I went into my external HDD, into F:Consolidated Music Library, and the iTunes Media folder was there. No problems. However, not all my files were copied into the newly-created folder.

5. Re-did steps 1-4 after deleting the newly-created iTunes Media folder. Same, my entire library was not copied. Songs were missing, artists were missing, etc etc.

6. I restarted iTunes. Nearly all of my songs now have exclamation points, iTunes cannot locate anything from my library. I have not made anymore changes to the preferences or attempted anything beyond this. I'm too afraid of losing my library information (playlists, collection data, not actual music).



Current Goal:
I just want to have all of my music consolidated in one place so that I can easily transfer my collection and playlists (playlist data saved already on external HDD) to iTunes on my new Windows 8.1 computer. I want to avoid using the copied libraries mentioned in the "Background" portion of my inquiry. The exclamation points on all my music worries me because I know that if I attempt to consolidate again, I understand that nothing will be copied if iTunes cannot locate any of the music. What can I do? Apple is EXTREMELY finicky with their data-transfer solutions, I simply cannot risk losing my data by relying on their support. I now turn to the Apple Community, hopefully to other DJs here...

Album Artwork

Long story, short version. Computer's been unavailable for a few months. Just got it up and running. I have, probably 75 or so albums dating back to the
60's. Last time I synced of those 75 albums about 10 didn't have cover artwork. Finally got the computer back running last night and the 1st thing it asked me to upgrade iTunes. Ok so far, I open iTunes and only about 2/3 of the albums have artwork. Not that it's a big deal but iTunes can't even find the artwork now. Not a big deal but I lilke the album pictures. Any ideas?

Help Restore Backed up File

I am hoping someone can help me. I have been backing up my iTunes library every couple of days and I have a backup from yesterday. So I am thinking I am good. There are alot of threads here and I can't seem to locate what I am going through in some very long threads.

My comp crashed while my iTunes was open. I don't think the crash was related to iTunes. When I opened up itunes everything was gone. I had reload all my music again but everything is gone, playlists, counts, play history. I need to get this back.

I have been using synctoy and backing up my complete itunes folder so everything I need should be here. I found the .itl file that would be needed in the Previous Library Folder. It was modified with yesterday's date. The name of the file is dated 2011-03-29 (probably when I installed itunes). This file is still current right?? What is the process of getting my current library back. I tired deleting the new one it created today and pasted the backup.itl but nothing happened. :confused:

I am not getting a restore

Please help me. :o

Itouch Flash Mem

I have a 4th gen ipod touch that I would like to turn into a usb flash drive.
I have read that you cannot do this without software or jailbreaking.

I cannot jailbreak it and use an app as the screen is busted. I attempted to take off the screen and reattach the screen cord as I had the white screen of death. During this process I updated the firmware.
Before this update I was able to access the photos in folder form no problem, so I figured making it a flash drive after updating would be a cake walk.
My question is why does everyone say it's not possible when I was able to open it up like a flash drive before? would it have only accepted photo storage or something?:confused:

Since I no longer plan to use this as an ipod or anything can I bypass Apple's restrictions on disk mode and reformat it to be a flash drive somehow?

Apple Help suggests the option of deleting the "original files" after copying iTunes (iTunes Library, iTunes Playlists, etc.) to an external hard drive.

Can someone suggest where the "original files" can be found?

My iTunes Music folder (Music> Users> Username> Music) has 38.3 GB in it and the iTunes Media folder (Music> Users> Username> Music> ITunes> ITunes Media) has 18.7 GB in it.

At the top of my iTunes 12.1.0.71 appear Genres, Artists, and Albums (see attachment).

Can someone disclose how to get rid of (delete) Genres, Artists, and Albums? I don´t want Genres, Artists, Albums appearing at the top of the window.

Microsoft Xcel on iPad unable to create password

In order to use the MS Excel, I have to create an account. I have entered my email OK, but when I type in my password, it is rejected. I keep getting error message that characters not allowed are in the password. Have tried many times, but still get the same error.
When I tap the password window, the keyboard pops-up, when I finish typing in the password I tap the 'next' and get the error message.
Any solutions please?

Anyone know of a vb script for Windows which will take the meta data from 1 track and copy it to a selected other? (name, album, artist, album artist, sort album, play count, rating, even what playlists it's in if possible).

IOS 8.4 and Gen 5 iPod touch

IOS 8./4 is absolutely horrible for my music...cannot randomly play songs, the mini cd cover screen is gone as is screen rotation and playing music is not user friendly as their previous version. Any pone else have this problem and is there a way to fix it? Virtually unusable at least to me!

Is there a "download all" button in Purchased?

I am downloading songs purchased on individual devices onto the iTunes library on my computer. It seems I have to download each song or album/artist one at a time. Is there a download all button so I don't have to sit there clicking and babysit this thing? Using 12.1.2.27

Batch iPhone upgrade

Hi,

I need to upgrade about 30 iPhones 5/4 to iPhone 6's for my company. The users will not use iCloud for backups. I will need to make sure that when I get their old phone I transfer their SMS and photos/music to the new iPhone6. I do not care about apps, contacts or emails as we connect to an exchange server and they can download the apps again.

I tried to use iTunes on my laptop, but that did not work well and it linked my iTunes account to the other iPhones.

Does anyone know of a solution that I can copy this data from iPhone to iPhone? I did find Wondershare MobileTrans, but it will cost $500 in licensing so that is out.

iTunes 12.2 for PC - am I dreaming

I am not a big fan of iTunes but still keep a sizeable library on my MSI (300 gigs).

I am also not a freak about my iTunes library and don't organize it in playlists or care about album artwork.

However, after I updated to iTunes 12.2 many of my songs started disappearing and some of the artworks seem mixed up (for example the artwork from ABBA Gold) is now applied for songs from Bony M which even to me looks out of place. I could almost swear this wasn't the case before the update.

Regarding the disappearing songs, they are no longer in my Media folder (even their Artists folders are gone as opposed to being there and being empty). I wonder whether it has something to do with iCloud music moving the locations of songs in the Media folder.

Anyone had similar issues after updating?

Unable to upload Facebook photos to iOS Album

This started a few months ago, I was trying to upload a few photos from my phone to my Facebook app. It always automatically chooses to upload them to the OS album which I prefer however, I've been trying to upload more photos and for whatever my iOS album isn't even an option when I choose to upload to Facebook. It gives me all of my other albums but that one is missing. The same thing is happening on my iPad as well, and I would love to know that there was an easy solution. I also cannot choose the album as an option within the Facebook app itself either. Has anyone else been having this issue? I double checked all of my privacy settings and things seemed fine there, it wasn't giving me any issues maybe it has something to do with the new update, but I will say it is kind of frustrating. Any advice on the issue would be great!

iTunes 12.2 hangs after every edit!

Since the last update to iTunes (12.2.0.145), I have to wait literally 2-3 minutes (with spinning beach ball) after every single edit I make to a track (name, album, comments, whatever).

Any ideas on what is causing this? I've tried Repair Permissions already, to no avail.

I'm on an iMac (mid-2011 build), with plenty of memory, etc.

6th gen ipod with a 7th gen hdd

Hello everybody!
I just found this forum and I hope to get some clue on this:
I had to replace my 6th gen ipod hdd, by mistake I bought a 7th gen hdd and installed it.... (yeah, what a moron...) when starting itunes it tells me that I have to restore my ipod, the thing is when I do, appears a message telling me that the ipod cannot be restored because of a firmware incompatibility.... so there is no way to restore my ipod on itunes neither performing a firmware update. Ok, i tried syncing it with foobar and so far the process seems to be working (8740/10522 remaining songs). The thing is, will I always have to syncronize my ipod this way or is there another thing i can do to fix the firmware incompatibility? (No chance to return the 7th gen hdd, i ordered), any sugestions???

error 504 on itunes when trying to restore/update iphone

so, I tried to restore my iphone to factory settings using my iphone 5 itself. The phone was restoring just fine (with the apple logo and loading bar on the bottom) when it just stuck with the logo.
and when I connected it to itunes, there was a pop-up saying to choose between update or restore. because my phone was running on ios 8.3(jailbroken) it demanded to update to 8.4
and now i'm stuck with an error 504 appearing on itunes every time i connect my phone and choose to update
please help!

My itunes has been updated to the latest version and my laptop has been too. I really can't understand what's wrong and it's driving me crazy.:(

How to keep Podcasts as Saved on iPod Classic

Mac OS 10.6.8, iTunes version 11.4 and an iPod Classic (160GB).

I have two questions :

(a) I want to be able to keep Podcasts permanently on the iPod (or until I decide that I no longer want them). I click the arrow (white, in a grey circle) to the right of the name of each Podcast and select 'Save Episode' so that that phrase changes to 'Remove from Saved Episodes'. This I assume is to give me the option to 'remove' as and when I want to remove them. However, when I connect my iPod again, I find that the previously saved episodes have reverted to the unsaved state. I've lost track of the exact history of all of this (I have, at present, 452 Podcasts on my iPod) but I distinctly remember finding some missing at some point and having to copy them from iTunes again.

So, my first question is : How can I ensure that when I save episodes on my iPod, they stay in the saved state?

(b) What exactly does the small tick mean, just to the left of the name of the episode/music track?
Again, I find that some of these seem to get unticked.

iTunes 12.2: Share iTunes Library XML with other applications

I noticed this change in the preferences when comparing to screenshots of my previous version of iTunes, I unchecked it because I didn't want 3rd party apps digging into my iTunes Library. And I googled for the phrase "Share iTunes Library XML with other applications", nothing came up until the new Instant Expert article which is OFC as usual one of the first on the web to address this change, yay iLounge!

One thing I noticed is that tagging is much faster now with this unchecked.

(not sure if it's relevant but I am not signing up for Apple Music, I wasn't sure how that affects the library files; and I don't use any Apple Scripts being a PC user or any other software that interacts with iTunes)

IOS 8.4 Problem on iPhone 6

I upgraded my iPhone 6 to ios 8.4 yesterday. The installation went
smoothly and everything was working ok.

Now, every so often, when I click on any app, the screen turns white and
freezes. Pressing the Home button brings back the home screen. Then,
selecting any app (regardless of which app I choose), the same thing
continues to happen; eg: frozen white screen, etc.

If I now hold down the sleep button and swipe to shut the phone; then
after the phone shuts down I press the sleep button for a second or two,
the home screen comes back on. Now the apps load properly.

This has happened several times since installing ios 8.4.

Has anyone else had this problem with 8.4?
Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

My Profile

This is awkward. I've been playing in in the ilounge for years. Usually through my PC. Long story, short version, my computer is in storage and I'm doing everything with my pad or pod. Makes it difficult with eyesight that's not way up there. Anyway I need to change my email address here at the lounge so I can get notifications. Can't figure it out. In order to actually see anything I need magnification I need about 130% magnification that leaves me with about a 25% page size. Dumbest question yet...how do I change my email address here? New update iBooks help

It dosen't help when you eyesight is failing. The iOS update that came out today moved all of my audio books to iBooks. I can't find any way to delete any of these books. On earlier iOS versions audiobooks were all under the music app and could be deleted. How do I delete them now? As usual comments or flames are welcome.

syncing to Outlook on new computer

My laptop was stolen and my backup failed . I have all my contacts on my iPhone. I know when I sync my phone to my new computer it's going to erase my music ,but will it sync my contacts to Outlook. Thanks for your help.
