iPod Touch help

Back story, so I bought a buddies iPod touch 5th gen that used to be his ex-wife's. There's a passcode on it, I've tried the dfu mouse on my macbook pro but I keep getting the "device not eligible for the selected build," so I try it on my old netbook that I have and it times out of dfu mode before it can finish the restore. I've checked the host files for both but no luck there. Any way that anyone know how to bypass the passcode and erase it? Please help.

iPod video 5g hangs

Hello, i think I have a faulty motherboard, my iPod video hangs on the apple logo, with no hard drive in it. No error screens, it still hangs with a hard drive in it, but hdd doesnt spin up. if i knew which part controls the iPod boot up parameters I could possible swab it with isopropyl alcohol (no water damage) to clean it off and see what i can do.

iPod nano 7th: how to copy videos or podcasts?

Hi guys,

My first experience with apple products and itunes. I've received an ipod nano 7th as a gift today and it's been driving me crazy for hours...

Basically, I just want to copy a bunch of videos (.m4v files) and video podcasts as well, but when I try to synchronize them with the device itunes gives me the error:
* item was not copied because it cannot be played on this ipod.

Any idea how I can transfer those files?

Question about Ipod classic 160gb Genius and other

I have used a 160GB ipod classic for years and love it. It finally died yesterday - earphone jack stopped working although everything else seems to be fine.

Fortunately, i had purchased another 160GB ipod classic about a year ago that i've been holding for this eventuality. I took it out, synced it and changed the settings like i had the old one and everything seems good except for some puzzling differences.

First, under "Settings", my old ipod classic reads - 143gb used 5.0 gb free". The new ipod reads "143gb used, 5.7 gb free". While i'm happy to have the extra .7 gb, does anyone know why there would be a discrepancy?

Second, under playlists, i see that the first playlist is called "Genius". This appears to be an itunes feature but it was never on my original classic Ipod. Is there a way to get rid of it so it doesn't show up in the playlist?

they are both the same model and generation ipod so my guess is it has something to do with the software versions being different. Does anyone have any insight? The size thing definitely intrigues me.

i noticed something. on the version of itunes you can right click a song go to "get info" and on the arywork tab you can copy the picture and paste it on another song. but with this you can'y do that. why?:confused::thumbsdown:

Language translating

On the computer, on Facebook, theirs a way you translate an tire page into another language. Like if you see a dialogue in spNish, you right click with the mouse, a menu pops up and one of the options is " translate to English". Is there a way to do this on the iPad?

Storing shortened tracks to Ipod

Thanks for taking time to read my Post.
I have a few songs i need to put on my Ipod. some of the tracks i have had to shorten the length EG Original song length was 3.24 iv have shortened it to 1.23.
When i play it back its fine it stops at the time adjusted to and goes onto the next track.
But when i synq with my ipod and put it on there the song plays its full length.

If i burn to disc the song stops at the time i have adjusted it to.
But i need it to my ipod as the gym i work for has updated the gym system and i need to have the set of music to a specific length .

I found the Tracker by InRFood one day when I saw my mom using it and I figured that I would try it out. The one thing that I love about the app is that you’re able see interactive labels. I've recently updated iTunes and now when I drag n drop my own music files into iTunes not all of them show up in the main 'albums' tab/screen.
Half of them are in 'artists' or 'songs'.
It never did this before.

How can I correct this - I want to see EVERY album in the 'album' screen.

Cant format or restore Ipod

Hi everyone,
I cant format or restore my 120 GB ipod claassic. My ipod started doing weird things some time ago, like it was suddenly unable to play some songs, or there were 1-2 minutes between another song would load. Today i did the restoration of bad sectors through windows, it was running like 8 hours. After that not only my ipod is not recognized by Itunes (its been like that for months), but now not even my windows recognizes it. It shows as device E: and it asks me to format it before I can use it, but format doesnt work sadly (it only says windows is unable to format the device).
I cant open the ipod and see the files, it shows as the disk has 0 Byte capacity.
I tried to restart the ipod and also tried the disk mode, but nothing works. All the music that is (was) on the ipod is not showing either (ipod just says no music).
Is there anything I could do? Or should I just consider it as its time has passed? (its very old)

Mysterious disappearance of podcast index

I used to have a nice side bar displaying an index the podcasts I've downloaded, category by category.

Suddenly, all but one of them disappeared. All the individual podcasts seem to be there, but they're in some sort of random order, which makes them all but impossible to find.

Short of deleting and downloading again, is there any way or restoring order to my podcasts ?

New ipod 7th gen. problem

I already have two 4th generation units and both operate well.
However my new 7th generation model is causing me a little confusion regarding the artists list in the music section.
On the 4th gen. selecting the artist list, then a particular artist, a list is shown at the top you are offered all songs, then below individual album songs.
On the 7th gen. after selecting the artist I only get offered one song although there are more tunes by that artist, I have to find these by going into songs.
All three units are sync with the same tunes, I am beginning to wish I had not updated.
Can anyone advice me please.

Bought a new ipod touch , biZarre behaviour in syncing from itunes to ipod touch in smart playlists , its synch all my songs no prob, but when i go on my device shows pllaylists in correct order , but this is bizarre, on actual ipod touch songs are not the same , it sort of justcorrupts and places songs alphabetically as in artists, nothing resembling original playlists , spent hours on phone to apple and they cant resolve the problem,, have had a ipod classic 7th generation for years with no such problems , has anyone out there had same problem .. thanks regards :o

Confused about photos

I post this thinking that I am the only one not understanding how to deal with my digital pictures but I rather doubt that is the case. I will describe my situation with the hope I get some guidance that will lead me (and likely many others) out of the wilderness.

My primary computer is now a MacBook Air but I still occasionally use my PC as well. Between my wife & myself, we also have 2 iPads & 2 iPhones. On all of these devices, we have digital pictures. We have a wireless network at home on which we have an Apple Airport Time Capsule & a Western Digital Network Attached Storage device. I also have increased my iCloud storage capacity to 50 GB.

What I would like to do is FIND & consolidate all of our photos into one place (most logically the NAS) and then safely delete them all from our portable devices to free up that space. We would then use our iPhones or iPads to contain copies of only the most current pictures so we can ‘share’ with our friends & family. We want the ability to have pictures on our hand helds to 'come and go' as desired. I have watched a lot of You Tube videos that go in to great detail about photo ‘editors’ but I can find none that really shows me the basic 'big picture’ I am looking for.

I have a sense that Apples Photo app with be the tool of choice but I really don’t know how to go about the mission. On top of that, I don’t understand how iTunes plays into the mix but I have a feeling that it too is a vital cog. I look forward to any and all comments that will help me in understanding the digital photo world that remains my wilderness.

Update Library on Two PC's

Saw many posts about this but want to be sure I can accomplish my objective before I try anything. I have a desktop at home and a laptop for work/travel. I want my libraries on both to match exactly. I often import tracks from home-made CD's and go into "get info" to change & customize things like Album / Genre / Rating, etc. How can I assure that imported tracks or changes made to a track on one PC can transfer to the other? Does "Home-Sharing" do this? Right now I do everything manually which is time-consuming and error-prone. Thanks!

Question about new computer.

I know I probely brought this up somewhere else I think but recently I found an old iPod nano that my niece once had think it's about 8 years old now. But I wanted to experiment and connect it with my computer. There was an error message that said this iPod was synced with another computer and... I forget the exact words but basically it said it needed to be formatted to synce with my iTunes/computer. This tells me whenever I do have to get a new computer, I might have to do the same with my iPod classic. Is this true?

Adding large num of CD to Itunes - dif PC

Hi everyone,

Have a large number of CD's that a friend wants to add to their Ipod (I'm assuming that they mean through ITunes)

There are too many for me to do them all while at their place, so I need to bring them back to my PC.

How could I take all the CD's and put them on Itunes or Ipod so that they remain that person's items, and not in my Itunes library.

Add Music to iPhone from mulitple computers

Back in the day you could change the phone to manually manage your music on the iPhone. This would allow you to open itunes on a 2nd machine and edit playlists, delete and add songs.

I cant seem to do this anymore. Is this feature gone?

Duplicate Files

My husband and I have a lot of music. I keep it organized on my C drive in the “My Music” folder with my music in one folder and my husband’s in another.
C:\User\My Music\John Doe
C:\User\My Music\Jane Doe

Unfortunately a lot (but not all) of my music is also located in the iTunes folder:
C:\User\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music

At this point I'm wasting space because I have music duplicated/located in two different places.

I use iTunes as a method of moving music onto my devices, I don’t use it for any other functions.

I am not using either of these functions:
Keep iTunes Media folder organized
Copy files to iTunes Media folder ...

Basically, I want iTunes to reference the “My Music” folder on my hard drive in order to find the songs to play. I don’t need iTunes to copy them into its own folder.

Is that possible? If so, how should I go about fixing this? Should I remove iTunes and start over?

Show Me Yours and I'll Show You Mine

Hey! Starting a podcast has been a much more difficult process than one could anticipate, that's why I have turned to forums in order to help get feedback so I can improve the one friends and I have started. Plus, I love getting the chance to check out new podcasts myself so I have a favor to ask: Check out out my podcast "Don't Quit Your Daydream" in either itunes or wherever you get podcasts from and then let me know the name of yours so I can do the same!

Picking Up iTunes Library

Hi,
I've searched as much of the internet as I can for a week or so now and am no further forward. Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere but I found nothing similar to my problem.

I usually sync my ipod with my laptop, running Vista and always with the latest version of iTunes.
My parents have a Windows 8.1 desktop, which was upgraded to Windows 10 last September.

I have tried numerous times to show my library on this desktop to no avail.

I keep my library on a usb stick (64Gb)

iTunes 12.3.3 downloaded and installed yesterday, I thought that might solve the problem, but no change.

Pointing iTunes to the folder where my iTunes Library file is saved shows no file (see the attached screen shots)

Has anyone any idea how I get the Windows 10 computer to pick up my iTunes library?
