New IPOD TOUCH corrupting playlists

Bought a new ipod touch , biZarre behaviour in syncing from itunes to ipod touch in smart playlists , its synch all my songs no prob, but when i go on my device shows pllaylists in correct order , but this is bizarre, on actual ipod touch songs are not the same , it sort of justcorrupts and places songs alphabetically as in artists, nothing resembling original playlists , spent hours on phone to apple and they cant resolve the problem,, have had a ipod classic 7th generation for years with no such problems , has anyone out there had same problem .. thanks regards :o
