ipod classic 160 gb "no music"

Hey Guys,

I have an iPod Classic 160 Gb for about 5 years now and I love it, but it drives me crazy recently!:(

- It started about a month ago, when it was just rebooting over and over again...
- The play button is dead so i cant turn it to disk mode, only restart or diagnostic mode
- I managed to fix the reboot problem by formatting, and restoring it eventually, but than a new problem occured :(
- Now when I put more than about 50 albums on it, it say "No music" My music is in the "other" category now...
- I tried adding the whole music library at once as well. It worked, but when I wanted to play certain albums, they were either skipped, or I had to restart the ipod again. Also some album covers were switched and weird stuff like that...
- Now I tried adding them manually from the music library, and it seemed to work, I added like 10-15 albums at once, ejected it, tried it and it worked perfectly...but when I got around 50 or so, it said no music again! :(

I really dont know what else to do...I formatted and restored it at least 5 times now and it always ends with "no music". If anyone had the same problem, or has any idea what to do with it, I would really appreciate it. :) I just hope that I don't need a new hdd or ipod! :(

Help please converting files for 3rd gen iPod (40GB)

Hello to all. My first post is to ask for help getting music files to show and play on an 3rd gen iPod I bought today.

Nothing I do gets the files to display on the device so clearly I need help to resolve this.

I had 30 songs in mp3 format and the general consensus when I Googled for help seemed to be that I needed to use iTunes to convert these files which I have done although they are tagged as m4a files rather than AAC files.

Which would be correct and is there anything glaringly obvious that I am not doing that will help me start enjoying music on the iPod?

EDIT: I seem to have resolved this myself now, as the device was synced with iTunes I highlight the converted file and click on add to device which then puts it on the iPod.

Change look of iTunes

Because of a problem with my pc I had to reinstall the latest version of iTunes and then copy over all my music again. That is all done now but I notice that the look of iTunes has changed.

I liked it when there were columns for my music library showing artist, track title, album, grouping , genre, year released and number of plays. Now it shows a column with artists and how many albums I have of their's and then the next column shows artwork of an album and the tracks. Is there anyway I can get back to my favored look?

IPOD not recognized on computer

MY IPOD is plugged in to the usb port on my computer. The problem is my IPOD is not showing up on the computer or in my iTunes I can un plug while I have the computer on and it will be ok since it acts like its not pugged any ideas on what might be causing it. I can't add or subtract songs.

Advice on rebuilding my iTunes library without a full library.xml or .itl?

My tech skills are poor and after a corrupted library event I just reinstalled itunes, and then added my itunes folder from my C drive in itunes (File> Add Folder To Library). However, not all the songs on the HD were added to my iTunes library i.e. for many albums random tracks were missing when viewed in iTunes (the original .xml and .itl files were corrupted and I didn't try to use them for this).

I can go to the iTunes folder on the C drive and right-click to Open those missing files with iTunes. After they have been played like that then they are visible in the library in itunes, but doing that with every individual missing track is incredibly time-consuming.

I've just bought a new PC and want to port my whole library over to the new machine. Is there any way of moving all the files to the new machine via external HD and then rebuilding the library *without gaps* even if the library.xml and .itl files from the old machine have gaps?

Any suggestions would be really appreciated, or somewhere else to go to find help. Many thanks.

Cannot Restore

I want to erase my Ipod classic and have been trying to do a restore. Every time I try I get a message that says it cannot restore because it is being used by another application. Push Crashes

Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered somewhere. Couldn't get search going right so I'll post it again. Updated iTunes last evening. Since then "Push" crashes. I probably don't even need it, but I have to have everything in order. Ok, I looked up this issue. Every answer (at MS) was to reinstall itunes. I did a clean uninstall. Same issue. Did that process a few times with the same results. How do I fix this?

I've noticed something about YouTube app on iPad.

The YouTube app keeps a different history than the YouTube on your computer or a smart tv. Ot seems the smart tv and the computer share the same history of videos you watched on the computer and smartTV but only the videos you watched on there. But the iPad is separate, and videos you watch on the iPad are only gonna show up on the iPad YouTube app.... and vice verca. Can someone explain this? Just curious. It's the same YouTube account...but with a different history?

Icloud share photos - someone tried to share my photos

someone asked to make a call with my iphone saying emergency, car broke down (I was at lunch, eating at a table). handed phone over and got suspicious when he wasn't talking on the phone. asked for the phone back after 3 minutes or so. after i left i opened up my photo album, the screen was left on "shared". i never used this function so I don't know how it works. How can i tell if he was able to share my photos to his account. I feel so stupid, violated, and just so rattled by this whole incident. Since I haven't used this sharing feature before, it seems that it asked for me to sign into my icloud account so i'm assuming he wasn't able to proceed to sharing my pictures. I just want to be extra sure that the pictures were not shared with anyone as I could not see a shared album or anything such. Please help! I'm getting so paranoid now!!!

Missing movies and TV show artwork

I have movies and tv shows as well as music in iTunes that I use with my Apple TV. I am using a PC for this and at home there are no issues at all. I have my movies and TV shows on a Synology network drive that I named X: All of my music including my iTunes library is on my D: drive which is a partition on my PC. Everything is fine here. All artwork shows on my ATV as well as in iTunes.

I now did the same config as above for a setup in a vacation house. I have another older PC that I used where I partitioned it with a D: drive. I copied my music folder with my iTunes library from my PC at home to this PC. I went out and bought a 2TB external drive, named it X: and copied my movies and TV shows to that drive. All of the media is playable. I have iTunes 12.4 on a PC running windows 7 on both computers however my pc at home is 64 bit. My artwork for my music is still in tact but the artwork for movies and TV shows is not showing in iTunes. I know the artwork folder in my iTunes folder is there. I tried selecting a movie and right clicking to show get info and verified it was tagged as a movie. I am also getting a message in iTunes saying that several items cannot be located with the ! symbol showing. I use metax to add info to my movies and tv shows including artwork which sends it to iTunes. I tried deleting a movie in iTunes and then adding it back to the library, but once I remove the movie from the iTunes library I cannot add it back. I click add file to library but the movie does not show up again.

Well where do i start..

few days back my ipod classic 160gb (2009) stuck into apple logo. nothing works.. i tried holding menu+play button which it puts into disk mode.. nothing else and back to frozen apple logo. Itunes doesnt recognize it. and it shows as grey out ipod device on pc.

How do I exclude certain playlists from syncing to my iPod?

Hi all,
I use iTunes v12.4.1 on PC to manage music on my iPods.

The type of music person I am is to create Playlists. I don't listen to music by artist, or by album, etc. Only by Playlists and so therefore I have tons of Playlists in iTunes, but I don't want to sync every single Playlist to the iPod. I want to sync only selected Playlists. I used to be able to do this in earlier versions of iTunes by choosing to manually sync the device, however I'm not finding that option in v12. Is it still there?

How can I manage which Playlists I want on my device and which ones to not include?

Stop Repetition of Songs

When playing songs in alphabetical order, it is more than likely to have more than one copy of a song. Just picture having an album by a band, then a best of and also a compilation of various artists. Each of those albums having the same track, so now you have three copies of that track.

What I want is not to delete the duplicate tracks, as I would still like them to show in album view, but I would just like iTunes to detect that the song has just been played and not play it two more times.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

Sound check only goes so far.....

i brought this up before. i have an external speaker that connects to the earphone jack. sound check does normailize the volume level of each song but only to a point. there is a volume level control for each song if i click "get info", options", and move the lever of the volume level up or down. but you got know exactly where to put the lever.
I have songs ripped from CDs *(some remasterd, some not) downloaded from various places. I want all my songs sound like they come from the same place with the volume the same level. why is this not possable? do i really have to download a 3rd party program, format my entire ipod, and then level every song and sound file i have on computer, and resync my ipod again? my ipod is 5 years old, i dont know if it can take that much work. plus i have to remake all the playlists. :(
my original plan was to play the songs in random, make it sound like a radio station. now i see thats unrealistic :(

iPod Shuffle Gen. 1 Connection Issue

Hi Guys,

Please redirect if there is an existing thread for this?

I have a iPod Shuffel Gen 1. Found it in a box that has not been used for over 7 years.

Did a good slow charge, and the device is working 100%, keeping good charge, with some 7year hits!

As much as I love 7year old music, I want to update it. So..

When connecting to the PC, the device is regisnised, and connects. (This confirms that the USB port on both the iPod and PC are fine)

BUT, when I open Itunes (reinstalled and up to date 12.4.1.6) the iPod is picked up in iTunes, and then is disconnected from Windows. Then it is connected again, and so on and so forth.

Conclusion:

Could this be a Windows 7, driver or iTunes issue?

Or anyone have some cleaver ideas?

iPhone six volume issue

For some reason the volume level on my six goes down on its own for no apparent reason. I have the volume turned up to a high level while playing music and the out of the blue the volume is reduced without any prompting. Oddly enough the volume meter shows the volume level is turned all the way up and is maxed out. I am running the latest version of the software. What is the problem and how do I fix it?

Remote control app

Someone told me about a remote control app. But I don't know if it's for an iPad. He said it works on his tv. I have an American Magnavox DVD player (I live I. nano 7th gen: How can I organize videos in folders or playlists?

Hi guys,

I've been for a long time messing around with itunes, the ipod nano touch 7th gen, and the playlist settings in itunes but I cannot have this working.

Basically, I've got a large list of videos and I'd like to classify them in either folders, playlists or whatever it's similar in this system.

Any idea how I could do that? At the moment in itunes I can put all my videos y playlists, but when transferred to the ipod they just go all together under the Film section :(

If this is impossible to achieve with this operating system. Do you know if it's possible to hack this product to just allow you to do basic things? Any pointer much appreciated...

Want to transfer itunes from OS C to D drive

I realize that the C Drive is the default drive for itunes.

How can I transfer the folder containing my itunes music files and settings to my D drive wher all my data files are kept?

Can I leave the itunes program on the C Drive yet configure to find the music in my music folder on my D Drive?

If this is possible can you tell me the several steps needed in accomplishing this

Would the iTunes folder be "directed" to find the music on my D Drive??

The most handy apps that set you on getting fit?

Hello there.

I have an app question.

2016 is the year I have told myself is the year I'm finally going to get fit. Last year was such a terrible for me in terms of weight gain. I'm 5,5ft tall and my weight has usually hovered around 220 - 228 lbs (which is still overweight) but over the past year I've put on a lot of weight and last I checked I weighed in at over 238 lbs. I can attribute this to just eating out a lot with only light walking as exercise.

I've downloaded some fitness and timer apps and they seem cool but a lot of the better functionality seems to be locked behind a per month or a per year fee and I'm just not sure if it's worth it.

I used to love an Android health & fitness app as it not only tracked your steps like many other apps, it provided lots of videos for different exercises from cardio to pilates and I guess yoga. But I've just got my new iPhone 6 Plus and dying to use it.

Are there any apps out there that people have felt aided them in losing weight? Did the app help with your diet as well as your exercise routine?

Need Help Adding Videos to ITunes Library

I moved audio and video files to a new computer and built an Itunes library. All is well with audio files, they loaded to the library and sync to my IPod just fine. The one video file I have will not load into the library on my desktop (Windows 7) PC. I have read through a lot of suggestions and tried many, but cannot get the video to add to the library.

Here is a summary of what I have tried:

1) Made sure it was not in an unexpected place (the "Home Video" playlist)
2) Made sure it was not read-only
3) Tried "Add file to library", Drag & Drop, right clicking on the file and selecting "Opens with ITunes", and putting the file in the "Automatically add to ITunes folder". It will not play in ITunes and will not add to the library.
4) Updated my Quicktime installation
5) Confirmed that the file will play in Quicktime
6) Ran video format conversion software to create ITunes and IPod friendly versions of the file - using Handbrake, Any Video Converter, FaaSoft, Wondershare, Bigasoft, Total Video Converter, Format Factory, iFastime, and the Export to IPod function in Quicktime. All play in Quicktime, none play in ITunes or add to the library.
7) (Re)installed K-Lite Codec Pack on my machine
8) Completely uninstalled and reinstalled ITunes
9) Installed Itunes on a laptop, put a copy of the file on that machine and added it to the library there. It added flawlessly (in the Home Videos playlist) and will drag & drop from there to my IPod.

So after step 9, I do have the video on my IPod, but I do not want to have to do that each time I want to add a video file.

Does anyone have a solution to this or something else I could check to get my desktop installation of ITunes to behave the way it should and add videos to the ITunes library?

iPhone 5S suddenly draining battery

A couple of weeks ago, just out of the blue, one day my iPhone 5S decided to go through the battery like nobody's business. We're talking with no apps in the background, going from a 100% charge before bed to 18% when I wake up six hours later.

The obvious stuff:
- Factory reset, setting up as a new phone (without restoring the backup)...no difference.
- Background refresh is 100% off.
- Apps that use location services are set to either "Never" or "While app is in use"
- No Bluetooth.
- Brightness set to the lowest possible
- Removed iPhone from its case to reduce the chances that it's an overheating issue
- No new apps were installed that might have started causing the issue, and in fact many apps had been deleted because I was running out of space.

I'm on iOS 9.3.2.

I took the phone to the Apple Store. They ran some hardware diagnostics and found no hardware problems, including with the battery.

One thing they did find at the Apple Store, though, was that "stacks+passd" shows up on the crash report like a rash...I tried Googling (and Binging and DuckDuckGoing) "stacks+passd" but got no results.

Any thoughts?? Of course, I could have them change the battery for $85 or send it off to iRescue and save a few bucks, but due to my job and literally needing an app on my iPhone to be able to do my job (security is a huge concern where I work and I need my phone for two-factor authentication) makes that *not* an option.
