Want to transfer itunes from OS C to D drive

I realize that the C Drive is the default drive for itunes.

How can I transfer the folder containing my itunes music files and settings to my D drive wher all my data files are kept?

Can I leave the itunes program on the C Drive yet configure to find the music in my music folder on my D Drive?

If this is possible can you tell me the several steps needed in accomplishing this

Would the iTunes folder be "directed" to find the music on my D Drive??
