Change the default iTunes 11 location on Windows7

Hello everyone,

My name is Addison and I am new here. I am having a problem when trying to change the default location where iTunes puts my music and movie files and folders. I have run the Apple tutorial on how to do this, but get stumped when I get to the point of naming a new folder. As things are now iTunes is on my C: drive which is my primary. I want to move the default to my D: which has much more room. I hope that I am asking this question in the right place, and look forward to coming here often. With some luck not when having problems lol.

Thanks :)

manual management and updating song details

Hello all,

Is it a good idea to update song details in iTunes, delete the song off the iPod and then transfer it back manually? Or is it just as good to update the song details on the iPod itself? I use manual mode for all of this.

Kingston Mobilelite wireless vs Sony WG-C20

HI guys,

I am searching for a device in order to expand the memory of my iPad, and I looked at these:

--> Kingston Mobilelite wireless

--> Sony WG-C20

I have found many reviews about the kingstone and all owners are happy with it, regarding the Sony instead, it seems to have better features/specifications, but I have not found any review, test, or opinions of users.

Can anyone give me some feedback about the Sony?

In particular I was searching for feedback about its App, and the possibility to open different video files (avi, mp4, etc, mkv), perhaps through third-party apps.

Thanks in advance

Will a new Ipod Classic sitting on the shelf for a year or two have problems?

Hi all

If anyone can help me on this one ASAP I would appreciate it hugely...

I'm going to see an iPod Classic later today which someone is selling locally. They said they bought it but never used it. As such, it has been sitting unused (and "as new") for a year or two.

Is there likely to be any issues with it for the fact that it has not been used? I guess I'm thinking along the lines of the battery and the hard drive (as it is mechanical). But there may be other things to consider which I have not thought of.

Many thanks

Cut the Rope not updating in Game Center

I have a strange situation with Cut the Rope. I noticed that even though I was clearing new levels and increasing my scores on previously completed levels, none of the scores were pushing to Game Center. After doing some digging, I realized that my old iPhone 3GS, which my son started to use when I got my new phone, was still logged into Game Center under my apple id. I confirmed this by playing the game on the old 3GS and found that the scores updated again when I played on the 3GS. But, the scores still would not update when I played on my iPhone 5. I first tried logging in and out of Game Center on both phones, turning cloud sync on and off, and deleting the game from Game Center. None of that worked.

So then, I decided to completely wipe the 3GS and after I did that, I reloaded the game to it, signed into Game Center and played. Doing the restore successfully unlinked the 3GS as it no longer updated Game Center. I thought that would then cause Game Center to link to the iPhone 5, but it did not. So, then I deleted the game from the iPhone 5, backed up in iTunes, reset to factory settings, and restored with the version that no longer had the game. I then reloaded the game and opened everything up. Still not fixed. Game Center loaded the old data like it was never gone.

Is there any way to get Game Center to forget that old data and wipe the slate clean for Cut the Rope? I really love the game, but at this point, it is worthless to play since nothing is loading to Game Center. Please help!

Would someone please confirm/correct my understanding of what goes on when I plug my iPad into my pc and call up iTunes? Do all the Podcasts and music I previously had downloaded to my pc automatically get transferred to my iPad? Is that what synching means, or is there more to the term? Thanks. ...wdc

Speakers please.

Hi everyone.

Just bought myself an ipad air. A lovely piece of kit but I need some speaker(s) to go with it . I had my ipad at work , in a slightly noisy environment and I couldn't make out all the sound on the film I was watching.

Ideally a rechargeable battery powered unit. Bluetooth and wired. Amplified to give a decent volume, in a smallish size.

Any ideas please?

Thanks for your help.

Is there a way to check whether an iPod has been used?

Hi all

There is someone selling an Ipod Classic 160gb. They say they bought it with good intentions of ripping/loading CDs, but never got round to it and as such it is pretty much as new and has never had songs loaded onto it.

Is there any way I would be bale to check the iPod to see whether this is definitely the case or not?

I imagined not, but thought I'd ask on the off chance...

New Podcast - "Best of The Worst Movie Podcast"

Hey Everyone,

Super new to this forum. My friend Andrew and I (I'm Justin) do the podcast about bad movies. I know it's not the most original podcast topic, but we have been gaining an ok following, and what would be really awesome is to get some serious feedback from someone who isn't friend or family.

Check out our newest episode and let us know what you think. What could be done better, what you like and didn't like. Audio Quality, overall production, humor...ect.

You can find us on Itunes - Just search for Best of The Worst Movie Podcast - The Poster is on Itunes.

Our podcasts started out with rough audio, which now has improved significantly. So I would recommend that you start with our newest episode.

Hi

Sorry for the recent influx of questions. Will try to quieten down after this one.

Artist Sort Help with iPhone

I'm looking for assistance with the Artist sort on my iPhone 5 (iOS7). In iTunes I have several songs from Bob Marley. Depending on the album, the Artist may be listed as Bob Marley or Bob Marley & The Wailers. In iTunes I have designated "Marley, Bob" as the Sort Artist and Sort Album Artist for all Bob Marley and Bob Marley & the Wailers songs.

After synching my iPhone with the new sort identifiers, the iPhone still shows Bob Marley and Bob Marley & the Wailers separately. They appear in the "M's", but as "Bob Marley & the Wailers" and "Bob Marley". How do I get them to (i) show as one artist (as I set-up in the Sort Artist and Sort Album Artist) and, (ii) have the name appear as "Marley, Bob"?

Thank you for assisting.

ReplayGain / Soundcheck on UK Ipod CLassic 160Gb... Too quiet?

Hi again

Still doing some research before heading out to buy my Ipod and making a start on ripping my CD collection.

One of the things I was planning to do was write ReplayGain tags for my tracks. I'll be using Foobar Ipod Manager, and this has a feature which converts RG data to Soundcheck.

I've experimented with a few rips and the RG is making the tracks a LOT quieter. The tag info usually states somewhere between -10 to -8dB. IPod's obviously have an upper vol limit. And from what I've read, it's lower for iPods in the UK (/EU?). So I'm interested to hear how people in the UK/EU are getting on with their iPods with Soundcheck on (still interested in the views of those outside the EU)?

I'm using dbPoweramp for all my ripping. There is a setting: "EBU R128 Calculated Gain -23 LUFS Target Volume". I've already changed that to -18. Would putting this higher potentially help? Would there be any downsides?

Cheers

iPod Nano 2g Problem

I have an old one of these I'm trying to reactivate for my wife's use. When touching the scroll wheel nothing is happening. She charged it up but it still refused to work, so then I reset it, wiping it clean. It now works perfectly but only when connected to my computer. As sson as I 'eject' it using iTunes and unplug the cable the screen light goes off, though you can faintly see the normal on screen text, but pressing the enter button or attempting to use the scroll wheel does nothingl Now I have it plugged into my computer and when I touch it the screen is lighting up, displaying the battery icon and telling me it's charging.....but it has been charged up twice already and now is the third time.

Thanks for any useful help and suggestions!

Album Art for the Ipod Classic 160gb

Hi all

I've tried searching but most of the threads relating to this seem quite old.

1. Please could someone tell me what the ideal size for album artwork on an Ipod Classic 160gb is? Not for iTunes or anything like that... Just and only for the Ipod.

2. If possible I would prefer not to embed album art, so that I can save space. I've read in a couple of places that foo_dop (foobar component) is capable of transferring the folder.jpg to an ipod without embedding it to the mp3. Can anyone confirm whether this is the case? And if so, how does it work?

iPod Video (5th Gen), Shuffle On/Off Shortcut

I was wondering if it's possible to turn on/off shuffle by a combination of keys on the iPod itself.

For example, I'm inside the 'Indie Rock' playlist (newest songs listed first in that playlist), and I have the iPod to play this playlist with shuffle On (to where it plays the newly added songs randomly with the older songs already in this playlist). I want to turn shuffle Off (without going to the main menu -> Settings -> etc..) by pressing a combination of keys right there from within the "Now Playing" screen. So when I turn off shuffle it will play the songs that were most recently added to the iPod, assuming I play this playlist from the top.

Thank you for reading this.

iPod Gen2 (Model 1019) Disk Mode Shows "Safe to Disconnect" only

I have a 2nd Generation iPod (Model A1019) with Click-Wheel - "About" shows Version 1.5 Windows format. The iPod works fine, over 4,000 songs play flawlessly. The only issue would be short battery life which is an easy fix.

However, when I try to enter Disk Mode to create Playlists and add more music, the iPod's screen will only display "Safe to Disconnect". Connecting the iPod to a Windows PC (tried new firewire cable as well as didfferent firewire card on systems with Windows 98, Windows XP, and Windows Vista). I also put the iPod in Diagnostic Mode and passed all tests (some sites show a Disk Mode option in the Diagnostic Menu but my iPod does not have this option).

The firewire cards work with other firewire devices and the cables I've tried work fine (tried both 6 and 4 contacts). The iPod charges okay when using 6-contact firewire cable.

I've spent several weeks scouring Google for a solution as well as searching the iLounge forums. I've seen this has been an issue since 2004 but have not found any solutions. I am hoping soemone else has faced this issue and can offer a solution. Thanks.

Wondering if theres a way to transfer all the songs on the OLD 4th Gen Ipod, onto the 5th Gen Ipod, which will be either 16G or 32G, not sure tho. Would like to transfer directly from Ipod to Ipod. Is there a way to do this myself or is it something I should have someone who is more tech savvy than myself? Thanks, Jim

2013 Beats Studio Wireless review

Because I need to take a break, I thought I would share my thoughts on a Christmas gift I received this year: a pair of matte black 2013 Beats Studio wireless headphones. As some of you may know, I have been a Bose headphone advocate for a while. Sure, they have always been more expensive than the competition but every Bose pair of headphones I've owned has been extremely comfortable and produced great sound quality. I first had a pair of blue Bose TriPorts, I then upgraded those to a pair of QuietComfort 2 headphones for when I required noise canceling. Even last year, I purchased a pair of Bose earbuds (the MIE2i sports) so that I could exercise without worrying about sweat ruining my two over-the-ear headphones. Plus it can't stand my ears getting all sweaty whenever I exercise with large cans.

I have always always been a strong proponent against Beats headphones. Before 2013, all Beats headphones were made by Monster. Monster is an absolute evil that needs to die. All of their products are overpriced and cheaply made. I never thought the original Beats Studios were worth their $300+ price tag (which was eventually lowered to $250). They were made of cheap plastic that easily broke, had small exposed screws that often fell out, and their sound quality was muddy with too much bass and no attention to the mids or highs. That's why I always kept my QuietComfort 2 headphones.

Then, a future relative gave me a pair of the new Beats Studios, the Bluetooth wireless models. So I thought I would compare them to my Bose QuietComfort 2 headphones (which are ~7 years old at this point and needing replaced). iLounge has already reviewed the wired versions giving them a score of B (recommended). I have the matte black color with Bluetooth wireless so mine are a little different. Same headphones, just wireless and not glossy.

Design

I do have to say, the new Studios are very nice looking. I was never a fan of the obnoxious neon green, orange, pink, blue, etc. colors of the older Beats Studio headphones (made by Monster). However, Beats is now it's own independent company. They have revamped their entire headphone lineup and they are no longer co-designed or made by Monster. The new designs are sleeker, lighter, and sturdier. I can bend the headband so that it's nearly fully flat and it will spring right back. The earcups don't stick out near as much as before and the padding around them been taken from the Beats Executive models. This leads to a very flashy pair of headphones that are a clear upgrade from the previous models. Beats also did away with the requirement of carrying around AAA batteries and instead opted to put a rechargeable Li-ion in the new Studios. The battery is rated for 20 hours of wired playback and 12 hours of Bluetooth wireless playback. I've found that their numbers are pretty accurate when you're listening at around 50% volume and below. Cranking the volume up will cause the battery life to decrease but that is normal behavior.

Beats also went with a design where all the screws are hidden. Not only did they get rid of the creaky plastic of old but you don't have to worry about the screws falling out. These headphones definitely look like they're worth their MSRP of $379.99. The matte black color looks elegant, doesn't attract hairline scratches or fingerprints like the glossy plastic coating (though facial and hair grease still stick), yet it still stands out as being definitively Beats headphones. In comparison to my Bose, these rely on more plastic but I do prefer their look. People complaining about the durability of the last Studios will definitely like this upgrade.

Features

The new Studios, just like the old, feature adaptive noise canceling. This differs from active noise canceling as white noise is emitted by the headphones covering up outside noise. It isn't as effective as active noise canceling but my eardrums don't hurt after using the 2013 Studios due to pressure from active noise canceling. Both methods have their pros and cons. I personally prefer adaptive now. Most outside noise is covered up once music starts playing anyway. I haven't tested them on a plane yet but I have walked outside next to a noisy road, worked in a lab with all sorts of noises, and worn them in a shared office with three other people pounding away on their keyboards. All outside noise has been drowned out.

Another upgrade for the Studios is the new LED battery indicator lights. A series of LED lights now light up giving you an indication of how much charge is remaining. It's a whole lot better than the colored LED implementation of the old Studios. iOS users will also see a battery icon in the status bar next to the Bluetooth icon (just like with a JamBox Big or UE Boom speaker). It's a handy little feature as I don't have to take my headphones off to gauge how much juice the headphones have left.

The headphones can also be used wired to an audio source instead of Bluetooth. It's a nice option but I can't think of any scenario where that would be beneficial unless you really need 20 hours of audio playback. A micro-USB port is used to recharge the Studios when their battery is depleted. I've found Bluetooth wireless performance to be spot on. They have a range of ~30ft (less when there are walls/doors between the Studios and an audio source) but I have never had it drop out when using the Studios from normal distances. The left earcup has built-in controls so that you can play/pause, skip forward/fast forward, and skip back/rewind media. It's handy to have basic controls built into the headphones as that means I don't have to take my iPhone 5 out of my pocket to listen to music.

Sound Quality

This is one area where the Beats lines have always fallen short but, like every other aspect about the Studio headphones, they have drastically improved the sound quality. It's no longer muddy as the highs are given just as much attention as the lows. The mids are still lacking. Beats updated the audio engine and drivers for the Studios and it's clearly evident. I compare their dynamic compression to that of what you would hear at a rock, metal, pop, techno/dubstep, modern country (think Luke Bryan, I'm going to go throw up now), indie rock, and a rap concert. It's definitely not a bad mix but it isn't accurate. Then again, despite what Dr. Dre says, the Beats were never meant to accurately represent music. Those looking for accuracy should stay far away from these and instead stick with Sennheiser, Audio-Technica, or Grado headphones.

As I said, I like the mix as the genres of music I listen to really sound nice with these. People who listen to classical music, pieces that are simple with singular instruments/singing, real country, and real bluegrass (i.e. not Mumford & Sons, they are pop) will want to look elsewhere as those genres lack the "wall of sound" the genres I previously listed have. That's where the 2013 Studio headphones produce their best sound. Compared to my Bose headphones, the bass is definitely more present but so are the highs. The QuietComfort 2's are much more balanced than the Beats Studios but, at the same time, the Studios can reach a louder volume.

This is the area where people will differ the most but I enjoy the sound quality of the 2013 Studio models.

Packaging

It's weird in this day and age to mention product packaging but I still enjoy opening new tech. Beats give the 2013 Studio headphones a very old school Apple-influence box. They come in a huge box that opens up to reveal a semi-rigid case. The Studios are inside of this case. Remove that and another cardboard panel to find a box for the documentation and warranty along with another box containing a soft cleaning cloth, standard 3.5mm male-to-male cable (black), a 3.5mm male-to-male cable with Apple device controls and a built-in microphone (the Beats signature red), a micro-USB cable (Beats red), and a 2.1watt/5amp AC adapter (it will rapidly charge an iPhone and can charge an iPad as normal). Beats did a good job of making the package a joy to open along with including all of the necessary accessories for using the Studios. My only real complaint comes from the semi-rigid case. It is large enough to house the headphones but not much else. It would have been nice to see a bigger case that had a dedicated section for housing the AC adapter and various cables. Instead, it's a bit crowded once you throw the AC adapter and USB cable in with the headphones. Toss in one of the audio cables and it's a mess.

Conclusion

So, in the end, are these headphones worth it? They come with a ton of accessories and have been improved in every single way over the previous Studios. However, due to their inaccurate sound stage, I don't think they are worth paying $380 for. I still recommend them for people who want Bluetooth wireless headphones with noise canceling but you have to be willing to pay a lot. I would fully recommend these if the MSRP was reduced to $299 for the wireless Studios and $249 for the wired only versions. $380 is a lot to ask just to gain Bluetooth wireless. If I was on the market for a new set of wired headphones, I would greatly consider the wired 2013 Studios especially since the glossy black versions are on Amazon for $260 right now.

As of now, my QuietComfort 2 headphones are headed to eBay as these have become my new "high end" cans. Again, they aren't accurate but I really enjoy their sound, design, and comfort level. Fans of the original Studios should enjoy the new ones. In fact, I think the upgrades warrant selling the old Studios and putting the money towards these (even just the wired version). Every single aspect about the 2013 Studios are a clear upgrade over the old ones.

How is genre displayed on the iPod Classic?

Hi all

I am getting ready to start ripping my music collection to mp3 for an iPod Classic I have not bought yet....

All my music is orgnaised by very specific genres, some of which are quite long. I'm deciding whether or not to truncate them, but it is hard to decide without having an iPod in my hand to see how it displays the list of genres.

Would anyone mind describing (or if you have the time to upload a screen shot that would be amazing).

Exporting Playlists to an Ipod Classic (without iTunes)

Would also be good to have a brief explanation of the three different file formats for playlists in Foobar: FPL, m3u, and m3u8.

My laptop died but I have the HD and I think/hope all the data, I now have a new laptop.

I lost my iPhone last week at CES and now have an iPhone 5.

Can I salvage my previous iPhone back up from the dead laptop and get the data on my new phone?

Must have iphone apps!

Evernote: I use Evernote to synchronize notes of all kinds, such as voice memos, pictures and PDF files. The app is amazing, all the notes are not only accessible from Evernote applications and website, but also highly searchable and tagable. The newly design Evernote for iOS 7 improved the navigation function of this app, which enables app users to access recent notes, tags, shortcuts quickly. I will refer to Evernote, every time when I want to take a note or search for documents that I need. I put Evernote in my dock and it has become one of the most popular apps in my IPhone.

Dropbox: Dropbox probably is the app that I use every day in my iPhone. I love this app, because it is a great tool for sharing files with both yourself and your collaborators without having to type in your password every time when you login. In addition, you can share various kinds of documents, including files, videos, music etc. to anyone around the world who got an Internet. Moreover, you can access your files almost in any platform, such as Mac, windows & Android, which make your work easy and comfortable.

MoWeather: MoWeather is my iphone app of the year. MoWeather is both pretty and functional. The app background is not only beautiful but also animated, which I believe is much better than Yahoo Weather. The 15-day-forecast could help people plan their holidays or business traveling a lot easier. In addition, the real-time photos shared by people around the world could also provide timely weather condition in those places. As a result, this has changed the way that people using a weather app, which makes this app more popular.

Google Maps Google Maps is among the top three apps in my iphone. Due to the inaccuracy data of Apple’s own map application, I use Google Maps quite often when I am on holiday or away from home. Google Maps is much better than other mapping applications when it comes to driving directions and local business search. Besides, the turn-by-turn directions in real time will make you driving much easier. In addition, the cleaner interface of google maps provides the enough information for drivers, which make it an easy-to-ready map.

3rd party cables for iPad Air

I have not had good luck thus far with finding cables that work with the Air. The common issue is that when plugged in, I see the green icon showing charging for about 1-2 seconds, then it changes to Not Charging. I would be grateful to know any source of reliable cables, preferably 10' cables, that will actually work.

Smart playlists not updating on iPhone 4S

I have an issue with my iPhone 4S. It started happening after IOS7 was installed. I have all updates. I sync via USB and have shut off iTunes Match.

My smart playlists are relatively simple. New 1 Yr, New 90 Days, Not Heard in 6 months. I have seen several posts that this might be an IOS7 bug.

It is very strange. The music is all on the iPhone - it all transferred. But the smart playlists only show a portion of the songs. The Not Heard in 6 months should have 4000 songs and it has 988. This behavior does not exist on my iPod Classic or Nano - they work fine. iTunes is also updating properly. I am aware that you must sync before new music shows up since live updating won't occur on the iPhone itself. If I search through the library the music is on the iPhone. I also clicked on the device and looked at playlists listed under the device and they are correct. Some of the suggestions I have seen which I tried were -none worked.

1. Restore Iphone

2. Remove all music and retransfer

2. Recreate playlists

2. Go in and out of the playlist once on the phone.

3. Sync all music to phone then then sync playlists

4. Set Playlist to Music

I just want to know if I should stop trying to fix - is it a bug?

Thanks

iPod Touch bricked, broken home button

Evening, all.

I've been searching relentlessly for the solution to this problem, so I do apologize if it has been addressed somewhere else and I've missed it.

My brother has a fourth-gen iPod touch which, due to a strange combination of events, has locked him out. He had a nasty habit of leaving it uncharged for long periods of time, meaining the internal date-keeping battery has died, leaving the iPod to believe it's currently 1970.

Because the battery died during the "try again in 30 minutes" lockscreen message and set the date back thirty years, it's now saying "try again in 23,061,832 minutes".

His home button has been malfunctioning for some time, making entry into DFU or Recovery mode impossible.

I've tried jailbreaking the device using p0sixspwn and Evasi0n for Mac and for Linux, I've tried many methods of wiping or resetting the device, including SemiRestore, and I've tried just letting the damn thing die completely in hopes that the date might reset.

Any help would be greatly appreciated by a very bored 12-year-old. I'll try anything at this point. Thanks in advance!

Problem viewing old Calendar events.

I have 12 years of calendar events in my Calendar application on my MacPro (entered as 3 separate calendars). I sync all with iCloud. I also have an iPod, which syncs with the calendars. I set the iPod Calendar prefs to sync events of last 6 months. Therefore, if viewing my calendar on my iPod, I only can view events from last 6 months. The syncing is quick, elegant and functionally terrific. However, I would like to be able to see older events also, but the only longer period available is "All Events". This sounds good, but by selecting this, each time I try to use the calendar on my iPod (whether to enter a new event or view any event), the iPod takes zillions of hours (it seems) for any part of the calendar to become available --- apparently because it must “sync” 12 years of events each and every time the app is accessed! This is unacceptabe and essentially renders the iPod calendar completely useless, so I am forced to only see the last 6 months of events. I don't need to "sync" old entries, for gosh sakes; I just need to be able to view them. Even if I need to view an event from only 7 months ago, I am without a device in my hand to do so. I wish Apple made events viewable back further, perhaps 12 months; even that would be helpful. Why just 6 months?

I'd be completely willing to put all 11-and-a-half years of older events somewhere else so they would all be available at any time I might need to view. However, I have not found any way to move the old events into a form which would be readable in some other synching-not-necessary app. I assume that if I used Google Calendar, instead of Apple Calendar, this time-consuming syncing issue would still exist. Remember: I don't need syncing; I just need to see them. They could be in text form, a pdf, or any form viewable normally on the iPod.

THANKS for any ideas! My stuff: Desktop: MacPro (2008) running Mavericks (OS X 10.9.1); iPod iOS 6.1.5 (2011, so won't accept iOS 7 upgrade).

Is This True?

In the last two weeks I have made a few posts about some missing content on ITunes that turned out really to have nothing to do with Apple. Then a week ago my classic 160g got soaked and is now a paperweight. I did have a replacement place but only for a year. So I made a few rounds with some independent repair shops and with Apple itself (who did dell me I could bring it in and they could order a new one for $160 but without a warranty!) and just finally learned there was no fixing it...no big deal. I should have been paying attention to where I put it overnight..leaving it the coffee table in front of a bunch of kids playing the 360 was a bad idea.

During the repair rounds, I got told by the Apple guy just sort of off-handedly that the first iPod was a 250g! Later on I mentioned this to the pianist at the church and she said one of her teacher friends had one. She thought he bought it in 2001. It only did music...nothing else. Is this true? If so, why have I never actually seen one for sale anywhere?

Gracenote Problem

Hi,

While ripping a CD I was offered several options for the title from the Gracenote database.

I clicked on the wrong one by mistake and the CD started ripping. I stopped the process and put the CD in again to get the correct title but it no longer offers me the option from Gracenote and always reverts to the wrong title previously entered.

How would I fix this?

Thanks,

iPod Classic 8th Gen - Come on Apple!

OK,

Now we have WiFi, Bluetooth, internet ready devices all over the place. I get it and they are definitely taking over. With iCloud, Apple has provided a way for their customers to access all of their purchases without having to store them on their iPhone/iPod/etc.

Still, my experience with iCloud is that it is not available all the time and can tend to be slow.

I propose an 8th Gen iPod Classic with present-day technology. If they could make a thinner, single-hard drive 160GB model back in 2009 surely they could make a 320GB model now. They could use the same operating system and clickwheel and if they chose to add WiFi they could do so. They could improve the screen by enlarging it (not by much, but a little) and further develop its resolution and brightness.

I still have my iPod Classic and use it regularly. What if Apple chose to produce one last iPod Classic as a retro collectible and test whether the product was still viable?

They are still in demand. Used Classics on eBay or Craigslist go for over 50% of the retail cost.

What do others think?

Syncing from ipad2 to ipad air

So, I waited patiently over the last almost three years. Finally asked for an iPad air for Christmas. Ask and you shall receive, right? So anyway, I got my new iPad and just like most impatient children I started it up and downloaded most of my apps from the cloud before syncing with my computer, forgetting all the metadata( or whatever it's called). The next day I went and synced it to my computer to get my music and stuff onto my new iPad from a previous Ipad2 backup. But all my game data is gone. Of course that means I have tostart most of my games over from scratch. I thought if I synced it with my old backup I would have kept that information. So, now I know there is one IOS update available and am about to do the update through Itunes. But I was wondering if I do the update, then back up from an even earlier backup would I get that game data back so I can continue some of those games? And if I do a restore from that earlier date, and then again from the day after Christmas, will I still keep some of that game info or will I be just shooting myself in the foot. I have some new games I have added to my new iPad and some of that game data I don't want to lose if I do the IOS update and restore. I hope someone understands my ramblings here. Thanks

iPod Nano 7G Video Skipping?

I own the green iPod Nano 7g, and love it dearly. Only problem is that, with video files longer than 1 hour, about a quarter of the way into the video the tracking bar will go to the end, the time will severely screw up, the video will be in fast forward, and the sound is fine. Advice from the experts

Because this website and forum is filled with the Iphone expert, I need some of your help if you have the time. I recently submitted a kickstarter project. It is on kickstarter search EyeShield -The Sun Blocking and Wallet case for iPhone 5/5S by Jeffrey Karlberg and Doug Cripps ; Kickstarter[/url] I am having no luck on getting supporters. I am not sure if it is the product, the pictures or just that I do not have enough friends on social media. The case is 20mm thick, the same as the otterbox. the prototype is made from a 3D printer so it doesn't look beautiful. It is one of the products you either love or hate. I am please asking for some input. Honest input. I have thick skin. I know not everyone will like it. it is designed for a niche market of people who want privacy or to use the phone in the sun or on the beach. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I cannot post a link so you have to go to kickstarter and search eyeshield

Thanks

Help Multiple duplicates being synced to ipod

Hi I have an Ipod classic that's causing me trouble. It has been syncing multiple duplicates and I can't figure out how to fix it. Example the artist "alkaline trio" appears six times in the artist list one right after another, when I click on each separate one I confirm they all have the same albums and songs. I have tried complete restore and resync but this seems to duplicate the duplicates. IE I started with two duplicates but restored and resynced twice and ended up with six duplicates. I have searched but failed to find a resolution any help is greatly appreciated.

iTunes Volume Auto-Adjustment Issue

Hello, I've recently been playing music through my speakers while working out. I usually have the volume quite loud coming through my speakers. It's fine for about 2 minutes maximum (usually less) and then it seemingly gets auto adjusted about 80% reduced sound. I've had the volume mixer open while this happens and have seen it go down.

I have an image of what the volume bar in my task manager looks like, but I can't post links since I'm a new member. There is a second "notch" for lack of a better word that is far below the original notch. This does not occur when I have headphones in, just when it's coming out of my speakers, and only happens on iTunes, not Youtube or any other source of audio, which leads me to believe it's an issue with iTunes, and not my speakers, or drivers.

Every song has their volume adjustment set to "None", so it shouldn't be adjusting the volume on its own.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!

Re using mp3 gain

I guess this has been asked before, but can't seem to get a definitive answer, or not one that I understand....

I have a large collection of mo3 tracks and wish to normalise them.

I do track analyse and get several 'Y' entries, which is to with clipping !!

If I then do apply track gain, many of the tracks have clipping applied....

I a know I can select apply gain without clipping, but this option seems to stop the gain from being applied on the tracks with the ' Y'. Or maybe I am doing something wrong !!

Also the number default is 87 i believe, I tried it at 94 then 100 to try and reduce the clipping, but it still seems as bad....

Can't quite get my head around what the effect on playing is from leaving clipping on.....does it distort the loudest parts of the track ???

Just need some advice......will play tracks on ipod eventually..

Many thanks

how do you set up itunes so app purchases sync with iphone and vice versa?

PC isn't seeing iPod correctly

So, I had a few extra iPod parts laying around from when I did repairs on them a couple years back and I managed to piece together a working 5.5 gen iPod (somewhat). It has an issue that I can't seem to figure out. Here's what it does:

-It operates and plays music fine on its own.

-When connected to a PC, it doesn't appear in iTunes, My Computer, or MediaMonkey.

-However, it does appear in Device Manager and claims the device is working properly.

-Also, I can't reset the iPod. The menu and select keys both work fine, but I somehow can't reset it, still.

So what do you say? Help me out?

Problems with compilation albums

My ipod touch has about 6000 songs on it, many in compilation albums. I uploaded a few new CDs onto iTunes today and then synced them onto the ipod. I now find that every compilation album on the ipod has been broken up into a number of albums.

For example, I have 4 tracks from Now 65 on itunes. Since the last sync the album view on the ipod has 4 entries for this, each of which has the same 4 songs. However, there is only 1 entry on iTunes, with 4 songs.

So, iTunes is displaying things correctly but not the iPod

For ths particular album I have made sure that the album artist is the same for each song (set to Various Artists) and that the disc number box has 1 of 1 for each song.

Changing Group by album artist on the ipod does not make any difference

Some of the compilations have the correct artwork for some entries on the ipod album list but not for others which is really wierd.

I have iTunes iOS 5.1.1

Is there a way by which I can have all the tracks on a compilation grouped together on the Pod like they are on iTunes (and i am sure they were previously)

Thanks
