iTunes getting stuck during sync - waiting for changes to be applied

I have spent a couple of days on and off trying to solve this problem and it's starting to get annoying.

I was having all kinds of trouble getting my Pebble and my car radio to talk to my iPhone, so in the end I decided to do a full restore.

Since then I find I can't reliably sync my music to my device. iTunes will hang on 'waiting for items to copy' or 'waiting for changes to be applied.

I've looked around on the internet but everyone who's had this problem seems to have found a different solution.

I've tried:

- restoring my phone from backup

- removing all voice memos from my phone (only 2) and removing them from iTunes

- adding items to sync one at a time, eg 'sync only selected playlists', adding one at a time

- deleting all the itunes_control/music folder on my device using iFunBox

I'm now down to some of the nasty things that I don't really want to do, eg:

- remove all album art from the device

- restore my phone to factory and set up as a new device

Can anyone point me to a proper troubleshooting methodology for this issue? I read somewhere that it's caused by a sync daemon on the device crashing when it encounters unexpected data: is there any way for me to find which is the problem file?

Moving music within itunes media folder

How do I move itunes organized music from one artist folder to another.

There are two folders named "_" and "Unknown Artist" , I want to move all songs to "Unknown Artist".

I have tried been unsuccessful many times trying to turn on and off the "media folder organized" and "Copy files to itunes folder" feature.

Please advise step by step process.

Voice Memo Problems

I have iTunes 10 and an iPod 4th gen. I have 347 songs so far, and 32 voice memos for a total of 379 items in iTunes. I have found that giving the voice memo a file name (in Get Info) causes the ID tag and therefore the header of the m4a to have its time and date changed from when the original file was created. (There seems to also be some difference when the memo is synced to iTunes, I'm still trying to figure that out).

So I created a voice memo (#33) and used the custom label function on the iPod itself. When you do this, you can see the beginning of the custom label on the iPod, and the time is removed, and placed below, beside the date.

I synced this memo to iTunes and got the result I was looking for. So to retain the correct time and date it seems that this is the way to do it, provided you label the memo right after creating it. (As I mentioned before, I think the date and time of the date modified in windows may be when it is synced. I'm still not sure about that).

My problem is that I want to label my 32 memos and not have the date and time updated, so I think that if I rename the memos on the iPod and then sync them, I may be able to retain the correct date in "Get Info / Summary" and the "Date Modified" in windows explorer.

So I created a 34th memo, and waited a bit, noting the time, and then updated the custom label. I then synced it to iTunes. I'm pretty sure it retained the initial date and time, but I'm not sure, as I deleted the memo to try to resync it to simulate labeling my older memos. But I don't have a 3rd party media manager I'm looking at getting one tomorrow, because what happened next was bizzare.

Somehow the 33rd memo got deleted off the iPod during a sync. I don't recall doing it. And the items on the iPod were 381 (347 songs + 34 memos) and now only 380 in iTunes (because of the one I deleted). It's bizzare because the memo was not listed on the iPod itself (#33 was missing and I deleted #34 in iTunes, I know because it was in the recycle bin and also #34 is 30 seconds long and #33 is 38 seconds long). And it wasn't listed in the iPod--> music even though it said 381 items! It deleted it, or I screwed something up I don't know anymore in retrospect. So I dragged and dropped it onto the iPod and then it was showing, but not in the voice memo playlist. So I dragged it there as well, and it STILL didn't show up on the iPod itself, even after restarting the iPod. After deleting it and manually dragging it over, it showed on the iPod itself. So 381 items on the iPod and 380 in iTunes and I need 3rd party software to continue this experiment. My apologies for the long post I tried to keep it concise. Any recommendations for a piece of software that I can use for syncing memos from the iPod to iTunes for around $20 would be appreciated. Also any comments on labeling memos and date/time issues. Thanks!

Dumb cassette adapters

I recently got a GE cassette adapter as a gift so that I could listen to my iPod in my car (1991 Plymouth Acclaim). Unfortunately, the radio has auto reverse so the cassette adapter is basically a pointless thing to own because every ten seconds or so the music fades because the radio is trying to reverse the "tape". I have found a couple of websites saying that there is a gear that you take out of the adapter, but none of them had pictures of the gear/s that you would take out and they weren't very thorough. Any information or links that have to do with how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.

An Exquisite Desktop Charger Optimized for Ipad

The Inateck 4-port USB charge (find details on " inateck/com ") has helped me a lot when I am out for travelling with family. A nice gadget which charge their phones/cameras and all the other little gadgets make the days out very convenient and smooth.

Appearance

The desktop charger comes into my sight with its bright white color very matched with my Apple products. Itis a little bigger than an Apple TV measuring in at 100mm x 105mm x 32mm, just over 3cm thick it's easy to tuck away under the desk or on it. You can lay it on either side horizontal or vertical. On one edge are the 4 powered USB ports and an extremely bright blue led, on the opposite edge is a on/off switch and the 240V input.

Performance

The output for the Desktop Charger is rated at 4x5v 1.5A Charging Port, Charging devices at 5V6Anmps (30 watt) which suffice for me. Except for my iPad Retina, my iPad mini, I also plugged in Note 3 and Nexus 7 etc. So far they they perform well. I specifically applause for the "wise" port it is designed to own which will protect my expensive devices anytime. Of course all the 4 port has the same prominent performance with stable juice transmission.

Conclusion

In all, I have no complaints about its construction and quality. It will be more attractive and considerate if the manufacture consider to eliminate the bothering of blue LED especially when I have good dream. :)

Itunes keeps changing my artist info

Please help!

I keep re-organizing my library and iTunes at random, automatically changes my artists...

Example. I may have purchased a song that was a duet. But I change the info (in iTunes) to only reflect one artist, and when I click on GET INFO, it's correct, but then iTunes will change it back.

I turned off Windows Media Player for I read that could be it. And that didn't make a difference.

PLEASE HELP!

Custom Alert for VIP Email

I am a big fan of having a song play for specific contacts. You know you made it in to the inner circle when you have an assigned song or tone no one else has. I had recently added a song to my list of ringtones I could choose from for my VIP contacts on my iPad.

I updated my iPad with the latest software (IOS 7.1.2) and was told it could not be restarted and needed to be restored.

Now I am unable to add songs as my ringtones and limited to the basic tones Apple provided.

Can anyone offer a suggestion?

iPod Shuffle 2ng gen dies when disconnected

Today I've bought a brend new ipod shuffle 2nd gen 1g. I've opened the stock box and tried to turn it via on/off switch but it was dead. Light indicator wasn't showing any light so I assumed that battery is totally empty since the device came straight from the factory. I've switched it back to OFF and connected it to my PC via original dock and it started blinking yellow. I've installed itunes software and when installation finished, software automatically started and the ipod was recognized. Flashing orange light switched to green. This was a little bit odd for me since I've read the light code and it says it should be yellow until battery is fully charged. But instead of that it switched directly to green. After that I've synced couple of songs for testing purposes and the transfer finished in a few seconds. Then after couple of hours I've disconnected it from the dock and the green light died as expected (since power switch was on OFF). But when I switched it on, nothing happened! When I put it on the dock, it flashes yellow couple of times and it goes green, like the battery if fully charged. But when I disconnect it, it instantly dies. I've returned it to the seller and he gave me another one, also brend new, UNOPENED. But when I came home, exactly the same scenario happened! Ive tried all USB ports on my PC, as well on my LAPTOP, but it behaves the same way. I've also tried external power bank and it also glows green! Is it possible that the both devices are broken? Or maybe I'm doing something wrong? I have win7 x64 on my PC and Windows XP SP3 on my laptop.

Audiobooks Won't Synch to iPod

I am having a problem getting audiobooks to synch to my iPod. Generally I download audiobooks using Overdrive and sync then through iTunes to my iPod. I use the latest version of iTunes (11.3) and IOS 7.1 on the iPod. Now when I transfer a book in WMA format to the iPod, it shows up on the iPod but the title is greyed out and there is a grey circle to the left of the title. It appears that iTunes is not converting the files properly.

Now I have a new problem. I have an audiobook on CD which I ripped using iTunes. When I copied it over to the iPod, 2 of the 12 chapters were fine, but the other 10 were greyed out with the grey circle to the left of the title. All chapters of the book play OK in iTunes, but only 2 play on the iPod.

What is going on here?

One Song File is not recognized by iTunes

I have a perplexing problem regarding just one of my music files not being recognized by iTunes. I like to make my own albums of artists and in this case I want to add the Beatles' Don't Let Me Down to the Let It Be album, but after making the necessary changes, i.e. changing the album title from the Past Masters album to the Let It Be one, etc., it does not go into the Let It Be Album (it does show up in the list of songs with Let It Be as the album but when you click on either Artists-The Beatles-Let It Be or Album-Let It Be, the song is not listed) I've done this before with other songs and albums with no problems. What happens in this case is when I try adding the Don't Let Down file, it creates a new Beatles directory and a new but separate Let It Be album with just the new song in the album. The file plays through so its not corrupted. How can I get iTunes to put the Don't Let Down file into the established Let It Be album? Thank you in advance for any insights and help. :)

Sync problem

Hi all,

I have an iPod classic 5G 160Gb. I'm running iTunes 11.2.2.3 on Windows 7.

My CD collection is ripped to mp3 but, of course, downloads are encoded as aac.

I am in the process of re-ripping my collection to aac and this goes fine (I'm selecting the option to replace existing files, so iTunes automatically replaces the mp3 file with a new aac file without losing the metadata etc).

All goes fine until I come to sync the amended tracks to my 'Pod. The machine seems to struggle to detect the changed files: some are synced and some aren't.

I'm having to either untick each file, remove it from my iPod, tick each file and re-sync it or do a full system restore, neither of which are ideal.

Can anyone offer any thoughts or advice about this problem?

Thank you.

Help tranferring non-purchased library

Hello. I've been searching for a solution for weeks on this topic and nothing has worked thus far. Here's my situation: Old PC bit the dust, but hard drive is still good. I've never backed anything up, unless it's done automatically. (I know now that it's a huge mistake). I got a new pc with an empty iTunes library.

I've tried 3rd party programs like Sharepod to no avail. Now I'm wondering if I get a cable to hook up my hard drive to my new pc if I will be able to transfer my music easily?

The majority of my music came from cd's, only a few songs were actually purchased from iTunes.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I'm looking for a way to print photos I've taken with my iPad 2 at a place like WalMart or Walgreens.

What I've read about the Camera Connection Kit (CCK) makes clear I can import photos from a camera to the iPad with the device.

If this device will NOT enable this functionality, is there some other device that will? Such as the SanDisk Connect Wireless Flash Drive?

severe data usage over wifi

firstly i would like to say i am very happy to have found this site.

after hours of research via google i feel like i am banging my head on a brick wall.

i bought an ipod touch for my son (he is using it and we have downloaded app's and got the appleid) although besides setting up some restrictions - i haven't set up the ipod properly through itunes (don't know if this is causing a problem)

ok, problem

the ipod has been hogging my wifi data (as it is the only new addition)

all i want is an app or some way of finding out what is using all my data over wifi - as i am sure it is just an app using it all..

what i have found

the only one i have found **sorry, new member, cant post link** Data Usage - Onavo Count - Data Manager App - but if you read the reviews they log all your data (owned by facebook) and use it to advertise to you.

my data manager **sorry, new member, can't post link** apparently had this facility and it says this on the last update???

"What's New in Version 4.3.0

** Regrettably we have had to remove the recently added “Apps” view, to be in accordance with App Store Guidelines.**"

i would really appreciate any help or advice -from a non-tech guy :)

iHome not charging my IPod Touch

I just purchased a iHome iH46B Under Cabinet Player.

It states that it should charge iPods.

My Daughter has a iPod Touch 2nd Gen. and it charges fine.

I have a iPod Touch 3rd Gen. and the manual state it should charge it too but I get the message 'Charging is not supported with this Accessory'.

My iPod charges fine on the PC and wall.

It plays the music just fine in the iHome player but just won't charge.

I called iHome and verified that it should charge and they said 'Yes'.

My iPod's software is up to date and I cleaned the connection with a pin just to get the lent out but still getting the error message.

I'm wondering if cleaning the pin will make it work.

What would be the correct way to do that?

I don't want to mess anything up.

Or can anyone think of something else to try?

Thanks,

Debbie

Rugged Cases for iPad... Otterbox Defender vs Lifeproof.

I am debating between the Otterbox Defender and the Lifeproof case for the iPad 4. I am not all that worried about water, as I understand the Defender will cover me if I am dashing through a rain storm, but I am never going swimming with my iPad. The reason for considering the Lifeproof is that it appears much smaller, lighter, and more streamlined than the Defender.

If the Lifeproof can take the full on edge, corner, face down, and other screen shattering hits that the Defender can take, while still remaining lighter, and better looking, I will do it. But, if not, than Defender is it for me.

Thanks!

iPad 4 iOS 7.x issues ...

I have had an iPad 4 for about a year and a half now, and everything was pretty much great until iOS 7. Then I noticed a HUGE drop in battery life. There isn't a trouble shooting question anyone could ask me that I haven't answered. I keep my screen at 50% power, I have my auto off set for 2 to 5 minutes. I don't have a huge number of messages, notifications or anything coming in, and I don't even have a ton of apps running.

I have been swapped twice, so far, and each time the problems are the same. A movie kills my battery in as little as 2.5 hours (from 100% to 0). 10 minutes of facebook drops me 10%.

My most recent device, which I have only had for a week, has been pretty good, but is already starting to show signs of the same issues. A week ago, I ran a test, running movies, and got the promised battery life. But, last night I used my ipad intermittently for about 20 minutes of music playback, then my son played Angry birds for an hour. It took me from 100% to about 50%. There is no way, even with the battery consumption of 2 D games, that an hour should kill 50% of my power.

Also, each time my device got swapped (twice so far), diagnostics showed that my battery life was hovering just in the green, at about 80%, after just a handful of months, and nowhere near the 250 recharges needed to drop battery life by 20% permanently. My most recent trade out couldn't be charged above 80% capacity after only 4 months of use. As they put, it, still in the green, but it shouldn't be dying that quickly.

I have also ready similar posts, though it's been a while. My next step, if I have to bring my current one back is to ask for a mini retina as my next replacement. Not, because I actually want one, but because it actually plays well with iOS7 and gets all the promised battery life, without any excuses.

If anyone has a magic answer that Apple is missing (they have, of course, suggested I trade in my iPad for a new one), I would appreciate it.

Sync without deleted from Touch (4th)

I rarely sync with iTunes but my current phone is almost up and I'm wanting an iPhone. What I'm simply trying to to is get my purchased music from my current iPod Touch into my iTunes so that if/when I get my iPhone I can have my music ready for it.

My issue is that when I sync it won't put my recent music (purchased on my iPod) into my iTunes. It just gives me the warning that my music will be deleted from my device. I just want my iPod and my iTunes to match, that's all. I want my newer music on my iPod to stay on my iPod but also into my iTunes. I have my iTunes set on manual sync, but I'm just not sure what to do. I've had this problem before but it was a long time ago and I don't remember the fix.

Also if I do end up getting an iPhone can i just re-download iTunes music that I've already purchased without charge onto the new device?

Thanks.

Will the ZIF to SATA adapter work with iPod Classic's HDD?

I recently removed a drive from 120GB iPod Classic, the drive is Toshiba MK1231GAL. I just wonder if I could use it as an external drive so I browsed eBay and found this: www(dot)ebay(dot)com/itm/1-8-ZIF-LIF-CE-HDD-Hard-Disk-Drive-SSD-to-7-15-22-Pin-SATA-Adapter-Converter-/310719237419?ssPageName=ADME:X:AAQ:US:1123

So technically, I can plug the drive to the adapter then plug it to the SATA port on my PC but I've heard that these iPod drives are quite tricky, it won't work with this and that so I'm not sure if it will work...

Also, I noticed that the Toshiba drive uses 3.3V DC but normal 2.5" and 3.5" drives uses 5.0V DC. Will this be an issue?

No Music on IPOD Classic

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and I am a first time IPOD user so please go easy on me :).

I have an ipod classic 160gb which was given to me. I was working fine but had music I didn't want on there.

I installed itunes 11 and restored the ipod. I transferred all my music over to it and all seemed well. I found that certain albums would just skip though songs without playing them. I did a pit of research and found that I could create an acc copy of the files and transfer them. I did this on one of the affected albums and seemed to resolve. So I thought I would cut my losses and do that to all the music, restore the ipod and start again. No I am getting No music message. However when the ipod is connect to itunes I can see the music.

I have tried reformatting / restoring / DFU recovery but still shows as no music. I can see music is taking up space on the ipod but shows as other:confused:

Has anyone got any ideas for me?

Thanks in advance

Are Tags Stored In The M4a As Well as The itl File?

I am backing up my music and itl files to M-Discs (Discs are rated 1000 years). I am currently using a LG portable (GP60NB50) burner To burn 4.7 GB M-Discs, as I do not have usb 3.0 to run an external Blu-Ray M-Disc burner (25 GB). So to conserve space, I am considering not backing up my M4a's.

I have changed the tags and the album art for quite a lot of my M4as, and have opened them in another program and confirmed that the tag and art is stored in the M4a. However, is it stored in the itl file as well? The reason is, to save space I am considering not backing up my M4as, as I can always get them again from Apple. But will the itl file override the new tags if I re- download the M4as if I lose them? I'm assuming that when I re-download the M4as its probably going to come with the Apple Art. I'm not sure If I don't back them up I will be re-tagging everything and changing the art back to my preference. Thanks - Zooks

Playing music through stereo/headphones simultaneously.

Is there a way to listen to the music stored on my Ipod Nano (bluetooth) through my stereo (wireless BT) while listening to the headphones at the same time ? When you plug in the headphones, the stereo speakers cut off.

I realize this is the normal function however, but I want them both play simultaneously.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

4th Gen.: How to delete old podcasts from Library

I have only 81 songs and 54 podcasts on my 4th generation iPod; It should only be using a "sliver"of my storage..... However, 1/2 of my storage is being used. I ran a smart playlist, and I see that I have about 190 old podcasts in my iTunes Library. How do I get rid of these old podcasts? I've already listened to them....I want them gone.

Wanted: Ipod Nano 7th Gen Case recommendation...

Can anyone recommend a multi-purpose case for an Ipod Nano 7th Generation?

Ideally I would like a protective carrying case that can be used with both a belt clip and an Armband. I used to have this exact case for my Ipod Nano 3rd Gen. It was a case that snapped into both a belt clip and an armband, as well as several other carrying accessories. I think it was by Incase but I am not positive.

Thanks...

Bypass lock code in iPad 2

Hi There! I bought an iPad 3 online and when I tried using it, I was required to enter a 4 digit pin code. Since I haven't used the iPad yet, I tried restoring it using the steps provided by apple. When the restoration ended, I was required to enter the email linked to the iPad, so I can activate it. However, the email to be used to activate the iPad is still the email of the owner where I bought the iPad from. I tried contacting him but he is nowhere to be found. What should I do now? Please help me. I would appreciate any info i could get from you guys.

Thank you so much!!

Auto Syncing

Hi, Have encountered so many problems manually syncing from iTunes library to my 120GB iPod Classic that I have just Auto Synced 30GB of albums onto iPod with no problem.

I have a fairly large collection of music and put most of it on the iPod but as free space is limited on the pc, I need to sync in three stages, emptying the library with each sync and only after I have backed up to an external HD.

Basically my question is, will the music safely remain on the iPod with each successive auto sync?

Would appreciate any advice on this subject.

Thanks, BobbyZee

Ipod 5.5 new HD won't work.

Hello everyone. Sorry in advance for the long post, but i'm stumped. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have an Ipod 5.5 generation. Before switching hard drives, it would turn on and work, but it would make a clicking sound inside the casing after about a minute, get really hot, and start to freeze up. Took it to a store, guy said it was a bad hard drive. I wanted to make sure i pursued every avenue before taking the plunge and opening it up. It would not recognize in iTunes, so i tried to reformat it from the computer. It started but froze up so i clicked out of it. After that, it would show the apple logo, then shut off, then apple logo again in a loop until the battery died. I figured i had just wiped the bad hard drive and ordered a new one.

I opened up the case and removed the hard drive about 4 days ago. Left it open until today when the new hard drive came and i installed it. When i turn it on, sad face. I figure i need to either restore or reformat the new HD. However, it won't recognize it in either iTunes or Computer. When i plug it into USB or wall charger, it will cycle from apple logo, to sad face, to the "Please wait, very low battery" screens. It isn't able to go into either Diagnostic or Disk mode, i can reset it but it's doing that on it's own anyway.

I'm starting to think perhaps the failed reformat did something to the logic board. Does a reformat affect the logic board?

Anyone know what to do?

Lightning Cable Not Recognized After iOS 7.1.2 Update

Ipod Touch case for sports with lanyard

Hi. I ran a search before posting but didn't turn up much...

I've just taken up cycling again and I like having my tunes on. First couple of outings I just stuck my ipod touch in my pocket, but thought there must be a better way.

Got myself an arm strap off ebay for a couple of quid, but it isn't great. I just don't like it being up there, plus holding up my arm trying to operate the thing through the flimsy plastic case screen at the roadside, I must look like I have special needs.

So what I really want is something like the transparent rubber cases you can get fairly cheaply, like a thick protective skin (open screen) with cut-outs for buttons, volume etc, but perhaps harder to get the ipod in and out so it won't jump out while I'm on the road, and with a lanyard so I can have it around my neck.

I'm no hardcore cyclist, and for the gentle riding I do, it'll be no problem to have it around my neck. That way I can just grab it and change tracks or adjust volume without stopping (when it's safe to, of course) instead of pulling over and wrestling with the arm strap I have....

Anyone on here know of such a thing? I'm googling as we speak but mainly finding more arm straps, handlebar mounts, or lanyards which attach via the charge port and wouldn't be strong enough.

Cheers.

4 Simple Tips To Extend Your iPad Battery Life Further

The battery life of Apple iPad is nearly 10 hours which is quite amazing. It is one of the special features that makes iPad stand apart from other similar devices. However, there are people who spend hours and hours each day on their iPads. For such people, the 10 hour battery life will also feel less.

Imagine you are downloading something or watching a video on YouTube and the low battery popup springs up to spoil your mood. Luckily for you, there are a few simple things you can do which may help tremendously in increasing the battery life. Below are mentioned 4 important tips:

1. Turning off GPS - The iPad 3G model has the GPS feature. However, people don't use this feature so much on their iPads as they use it on their phones. So, a quick and easy way to save some battery life is to turn it off. When you are at your home and watching some videos or interacting on Facebook, you don't require this feature which might be eating up your battery power little by little. If, at any time, you do need GPS feature, you can easily turn it back on.

2. Turn off Push Notifications - Push notification is a feature which allows various apps to notify you of new messages or events as they occur without having to open the application. This is an excellent feature but it will drain off the battery life faster as the device has to keep on checking periodically if there is any new message to be pushed to the screen. You can turn off this feature completely or turn it on only for specific apps.

3. Turn Off Bluetooth - We rarely use Bluetooth feature. It is only useful when we want to transfer something to and from our iPad to another device nearby. Once the task is done, we can turn off Bluetooth again otherwise it will drain our battery unnecessarily. A good rule of the thumb is to keep the Bluetooth off most of the time and turn it on only when you need it, then turn it off again once your task is done.

4. Adjust Brightness - The iPad has an amazing auto-brightness feature. What this does is automatically adjust your iPad screen's brightness according to the surrounding light quality in the room. However, this is not sufficient. If you want to extend your battery life and add more hours to it, then you need to go into the settings and manually adjust the brightness. You should try to keep the brightness at a point where it is comfortable enough to read but which is not as bright as the default setting.

Ipod to Itunes?

Sorry, I looked in the search feature and tried google and I am more confused than when I started, yes, newbie here.

I had about 3k worth of songs in Media Monkey and only about 75% of them loaded into my Classic Ipod, Apple support thinks I should just load the others into Itunes and see what happens, I'm ok with that I guess.

But is there a easy way to load the songs that did make it into the Ipod into my Itunes?

Thanks much.

I know it's probably here, just can't find it.

PC Not Recognizing IPod!

Hey all,

I have an old iPod classic 80GB. I used to use Winamp's program to sort my music, never liked ITunes. However, I re-installed ITunes in order to purchase an album that my friend released (wanted to support him). Problem was I forgot to uninstall it. When I plugged in my iPod both Winamp AND ITunes ran at the same time, both trying to access my music library. Now, when I plug it in neither program recognizes it.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks so much
