Old Ipod No Longer Recognized by PC or iTunes?

Hi all,



I've got a very old iPod MA477 Nano that when connected to my Windows 7 PC is no longer recognized in My Computer or iTunes.



I followed the advice on this page but it was ho help:

iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

as the device isn't showing up in the Windows Device Manager.



The iPod is charging via USB on the computer OK.



I've tried other cables and computers.



Update: I tried a different iPod on the same computer and that was recognized.



It was working fine, then one day it stopped!



Any ideas?
