Hello all;
Once again my wife has managed to wipe out her iTunes music library (and this is indicative of some issues for another post -- probably in a marriage forum somewhere). Anyway several years ago I followed the steps in this article I found here to transfer music from her iPod to our computer:

I'm hoping, maybe against hope, that there is a similar procedure to use now with an iPhone. Hers is the 5C, and much of the music she has was originally copied from CDs, if that makes any difference.
If this is not possible, are the third party software solutions offered for this issue to be trusted? If so, are some more reputable or effective than others?
Thanks for any and all insights on this issue.
