album not showing.

I have one album in my iTunes library that simply will not show as an album under the artist list when I sync to my iPod Touch. I have deleted it from iTunes and re installed from the cd, and even completely reset and deleted everything form the iPod . It does show when I look for it in albums, but still does not appear under the artist list. How do I fix this?

Albums on iPhone but not on Mac

Should I wait for a new iPod?

So I have almost 50GB worth of music in my iTunes library, and I need an iPod with enough storage. I was considering to get a 64BG iPod Touch, but I feel like I'd eventually run out of storage as my library continues to grow. So I'm considering to get a 160GB iPod Classic.



I know September is a month for announcements from Apple. Do you guys think they might announce a new iPod Touch, potentially with greater storage? I know we can't predict anything, but maybe you guys can shed some light based on how Apple usually goes about releasing new products.



Another thing I like about the Classic, though, is that I can use it as an external hard drive. Not only that, but if somehow my computer dies on me or something, I'd be able to just back up my music from the iPod classic onto the iTunes of a new computer, which can't be done on an iPod Touch as far as I know.



I'm just scared to get an old device when you know Apple could announce something new very soon.

Need Help With Cover Art Display

Just lost my long, detailed attempt at asking this question, so I’ll try to be more succinct.



Is there a way to designate in iTunes which cover art (on an album with multiple covers) displays in iTunes and on Cover Flow on iPod Touch?



These aren’t for “Various Artists” compilations, but rather essential tracks from a single artist arranged chronologically – with each track bearing the original art from the album from which it was drawn…



For example, if I wanted the iconic London Calling album cover to display for The Clash, I’d currently have to assign it to the first track on the compilation (or playlist) which is “Clash City Rockers,” which is aggravating since that song belongs to a different album entirely.



I’m pretty sure even Facebook lets you click on any photo within an album and check a box saying “make this photo the album cover.” Does iTunes have any comparable feature? Is there any fix other than “the album cover is always the cover art from whatever the first track is?”



I recently stumbled across the solution for having an artist alphabetized by last name without having to have it display Cave, Nick …so I thought I’d ask…



Clearly I’m not too tech-saavy, so I’d be appreciative of any feedback.



The current set-up works great for keeping the number of artists and albums tightly consolidated and vibrantly displayed while still showing original album art for any track that plays… (*unless* it’s the first track of album and a more iconic cover came later in the artist’s discography)…



Solutions? Ideas?

Have to press menu to wake up Ipod classic 30gb

Dumb question. Just bought an old 30gb ipod classic (5th gen I think, no video). I noticed that if the screen is off and on hold and I don't use it for like 12-24 hours, I have to press and hold menu to turn it back on. (I can't just flip the hold switch back)



Is this normal?

Once I press menu, the apple logo comes up for a few seconds and it comes back on.

Best way to replace mp3s with lossless and keep playlists

Since deciding to scrap using my NAS for running iTunes I've moved the entire music folder to my Mac. I don't want to simply use this library as it's full of duplicates and broken paths - I want to take all these lossless files I had on the NAS and replace the MP3's on the Mac with them. If I import them I end up with duplicates so I found that if I open an album folder of MP3's, delete them, empty trash, copy lossless files of that album into the album folder and relaunch iTunes, when I select a song to play it shows as missing with an "!" I can then locate the file in the folder and it's added, replacing the mp3 and also maintaining it's position in any playlists.



What I want to know is, what's the quickest way to do this? Should I either:



1) Delete the original MP3s, then import the new lossless files via “add to library” method so they are instantly recognized by itunes and then edit the TXT of my old playlists from the PC (which will still contain all the tracks that otherwise would have have disappeared from the Mac playlists) with the Mac folder location and re-import?



Or, is there a script I could run to link all the "!" missing mp3s with their lossless counterparts once copied into the original folders?

I have also invested some years ago in a remarkable little portable device called a watch that I can wear on my wrist - tells me the time just fine.



I would also be interested in the name and address of anyone stupid enough to buy this Buggy POS iPod off me before I throw it out of the window.

Can I import playlists into a newly created library and how?

Due to a lot of broken paths between my itunes library and the music folders, I want to create a new library using just the music files but I'd like to preserve my playlists - can I do the following?



1) Copy entire NAS music folder to the Mac and run a script to remove all lower quality duplicates (I re-ripped 200 CD's which maintained the original mp3 versions in the folders although didn't reflect this in iTunes app)



2) Ask iTunes to create a new library from these folders



Then, can I export my old playlists from my Windows PC (where the original music files are being migrated from) and import into the new Mac library I will have created? If so, can I do this using the .xml from the NAS or should I export/import each playlist indivdually?

iTunes song paths lead to random folders - how do I fix?

Long story short, I've been trying to move my entire iTunes from a NAS to my Mac and it's got messy and I'm left with a situation whereby all the songs are safe on the Mac in the correct folders, e.g. Bruce Springsteen songs in the correct album folder in the Bruce Springsteen parent folder, HOWEVER, when I try to play certain songs (not all) on iTunes it skips over the track and doesn't even highlight it with an "!". When I check the file path it will show iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Madonna (for Bruce Springsteen).



So, my question is, how can I now re-associate the songs paths in iTunes app with the correct folders? Is there a script or can I somehow reimport the songs? I'm not worried about losing ratings, last played, play count, etc. but I wouldn't want to lose my playlists.

Loaded ipod and new computer

Hello,

I suffered a system failure motherboard and boot drive (which housed iTunes). It is not recoverable without data recovery services.



The secondary drive that held the MP3s of the music I have ripped over the years, is fine, and well and in place in my new system. I know iTunes is particular about having the directory and drive letter structure being intact.



So, new computer, old drive is the same letter and old directories are present and working. NOw I do not have iTunes on it, however I have my ipod that I have years worth of music on as well as playlists etc etc on and it works fine. I also want to do some more lists and have more music to add.



This brings me to my current question, is there a way to bring my ipod back into a new clean install of iTunes? I want to drop my ipod back into a new load of iTunes just as it is, add more music into it and resync it. How do I go about this?

Should I re-enable "keep itunes organized"

I've finally successfully moved my entire itunes library to my mac from pc via a NAS, with the exception of about 150 "missing songs", however when I downloaded a new album this morning I noticed it was saved to the iTunes Media folder rather than the Music subfolder with the rest of the music. I checked my preferences and the location for music is set as users/music/itunes/itunes media and not ...itunes media/music.



I then selected "keep itunes organized" but when I saw that it was moving my music from the Music folder into the parent Media folder I aborted it. Result is I now have about 20 artists in Media folder - should I check "keep organized" and let itunes move all my music into the parent album or try to relocate the recently moved stuff back into the Music subfolder?

Anyone use iTunes U?

So I'm trying to justify buying the new iPad Air coming out in October :D A 128 gig iPad Air with Sprint, keyboard cover, screen protector, stylus, an Apple TV, protection plans for both, and tax will run me about $1400 based on an estimation of a day 1 $1000 iPad Air 6th gen 128gig. I don't currently own any iPads. I mainly want it for iTunes U and I have a specific course in mind I want to start with:

2 courses at the local university run $1456.82. That's six credits in one semester. College course prices have gone up incredibly. Any advice for managing large re-ripped library for ipod use?

I've recently bought a Mac and moved my iTunes library to my 2TB NAS and started re-ripping my entire CD collection (around 1,000 cds) to Apple Lossless (previously had AAC versions).



The problem is now my wife's 16GB ipod can only hold considerably less music (understandably) so I wanted to ask what others have done about this - is the best option to create and save a second, separate library and what's the quickest way to go about that?

iphone calendar and reminders

I'm fairly new to iPhone. So far I've found that the reminder function isnt optimal. I wonder if I'm just using it wrong?



When I schedule an event in my phone I'd like to be made aware when its coming up. So far I've found that I can set alerts, but if I dont do that there's no reminder. If I check my schedule it'll be there, but thats about it. With setting alerts, I can do that but its an extra step. With my Blackberry I didnt need to do that.



Another issue, this one I dont think we'll be able to do anything about but it'd be awesome if we can. For Facebook events a lot of them are random ones that I never signed up for, just got invited to. Is there some way to remove the irrelevant ones from my calendar while still keeping the relevant ones? For example if some random FB group invites me to a conference call on say the law of attraction I dont need to hear about such nonsense (esp when I've never clicked join group or yes i'll attend). If I have a party to go to on the other hand, I'd very much like a reminder.

Audiobooks will not transfer to iPhone

Hi I have umpteen audiobooks in iTunes and normally to get them from iTunes to my iPhone I simply drag and drop, but for some reason they refuse to transfer fro iTunes now, I have synched umpteen times but they still refuse tio transfer, just showing a no entry sign when I try to drag and drop. Any advice would be appreciated, I have not altered any settings or anything and have 1.45 GB left on the phone and the book is only about 600MB so there is plenty of room

Cannot install iOS 7.1.2 iCloud not backing up quickly enough

Hi Guys



So I was wondering, I have been having trouble updating to the newest phone software, I have an iPhone 5C and upgraded from a 4 if that helps, and my phone is taking a very long time to restore and backup everything, so therefore I can't install the new update, it has been over a week and it's starting to frustrate me a little bit. I did spend time talking to Apple Support but I stupidly failed to mention that the iCloud Backup Button was Grayed Out as well, so that may be a problem and I so he probably assumed everything was fine for me to go ahead on my phone



Also I can't delete my old iPhone backup either even though the phone had been reset and taken by Apple.



Hope that makes some sense, any ideas on what I can do?

icloud Database Tracker Sales Tool

I have been searching for a tool to help me track appointments, product presentation and resulting product sales. Here is what I am seeking. I feel like the CRM tools have too many features I won't use, are too costly or too hard to setup. I think maybe a user created database that has reminder features might work best.

Copy or Fill-In Contact/Address Book Fields

I am posting in apps because maybe I need to be using a new app.



I end up with a stack of business cards that need to be added to my address book that share much of the same information. For instance, the company name, division, address and main telephone number are all the same. Is there a trick that I don't know to copy a contact? Or is there an app that will help me by keeping me from re-entering all of this information over and over again for various contacts.



In the end it is important to me if I use a special Mac, ipad or iphone app that it integrate with the icloud contacts so I can continue to use this as my main contact database/address book.



I'm willing to spend money on an app and can use the extra features of a contact manager that helps me with me business (sales) but I don't need all the social fluff.

Before sending my iphone 4s back to repair center...

I think my iPhone 4S is not working correctly. Everytime when turning it on, it stays on for a couple of minutes then restarts again and again, so my phone is unusable. I have tried ordered a new battery from mpj in thinking maybe it needs a replacement. I put the new battery in the phone but still crashes. Before send it back to repair center does anyone know what could be the problem? Can it be fixed? Is it better to upgrade a new phone? Thank you.

VPN for iPad2 and other gadgets?

I live in the UK but I'm going to the US next week. With bad timing (according to my teenagers) the first episode of the next Doctor Who series with the new Doctor(!) is airing Saturday 23rd August. I understand that I could use a VPN to access BBC iPlayer from the US but I don't know how to go about it.



We will have Android phones, and iPad and a Windows PC with us and could take an Apple TV3 or a Chromecast. How would I go about setting up a VPN on any/all of these? I would like it to be something that isn't too fiddly to set up as we will be in a hotel and assume we won't have access to the router. We can use Hola in the UK to access US Netflix so that might be OK but can't be used on the iPad.

I'm going to Boston this weekend and to New York the following week. If I take my UK ATV3 with me will it work? Unable to check number of items in iTunes 11

I have upgraded my computer from Windows XP 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. I have installed iTunes and have started loading my purchased m4a's and voice memos. I added a new PC (with Win 8) and installed iTunes with the same Apple id and password.



What do I have to do to be able to play my iTunes songs on the new PC? I don't see them there now.

Iphone 4 problem

Hi yesterday my phone was 3% when i charged it could not charged it and my charger is not from apple but i tried another plugs still did not work so when i had no more battery i charged it again and they was the red battery so i thought it was charging but when i woke up i saw i could not turn on the iphone and when i plugged it id did not do anything ! Pleas help what should i do i really need my phone i dont want to reset it !

Custom iPod Classic issues need help!!

I'm trying to build a U2 special edition ipod classic with a compact flash card HDD and have gotten everything to work properly even synching, clicking, playing music, ect. The major issue I'm having is that I have a blank white display and can't figure out why I've changed screens and the motherboard and still same issue. Can someone please help me I've ran out of ideas on how to fix it!!!

I keep getting a message saying that errors occurred and I should "choose

Tools>Download Only and try installing manually." This would be a lot more helpful if I knew where "tools" was. Does anybody know?

podcast listings in Itunes 11.3

I am on a new pc and downloaded the latest version of itunes 11.3. In my podcastss in my previous version I had the option to download a number of previous podcasts, in some case 20-30 of them. I think it was called "show all podcasts". I don't see this option anymore. I subscribe to This American Life and I used to get the last 2 months available to me to download. Now just the latest. Is this option still available? if so where?

iPod Classic with low battery...?

I just bought an iPod Classic 6th Generation with 80 gig's of storage. For some reason, i charged it fully. I unpluged it from the wall, and for some reason it will still show that it is charging, then flash that it has no battery. It'll go back and forth.

Smartphone games getting more impressive

I just saw my friend here next to me playing 'Angels In The Sky' and the graphics of the game kind of surprised me. Has anyone else noticed that the graphics are getting closer n closer to consoles?



Since when did the graphics get this good?! I'm confused... Think I might have to get myself a 'gamer' phone or iPad too for gaming on the bus/subway...

Please tell me this ipod works!

So I just bought an ipod on eBay (okay I know) 4th generation, 20gb, pre photo pre video. No color.



Anyways, when I plug it in nothing happens for the most part. I have the most up to date iTunes that I can get which is 9.2 I think. I have a 4g PowerBook. I really love the mid 00's apple products you see... But the ipod will also not connect to a newer Dell computer with up to date iTunes either. Ipod will charge with FireWire and it will charge on USB after resetting, but will not connect to computers in any way outside of charging. Tried different cables, reinstalling iTunes fully... Reset, restart computer. All the stuff after searching online for hours.



If I put ipod in disc mode while connected to computer it goes to 'do not disconnect' for about 1 second and then to 'okay to disconnect' immediately. This doesn't get the ipod to sync with the computer but afterwards the ipod will be charging with the USB. Again, ipod always charges with FireWire but only after resetting USB. But WILL NOT show up as a disc on any computer...



It needs to be said the ipod is entirely in working order. A lot of music is on the ipod and it all plays perfectly.



I suspect there is a charging connector and a sync connection. Could the sync connection be bad or should I try something else. I have several broken iPods of the same type I could do some amateur repairs with, but wouldn't know where to start



OR



IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN TRY?



One other thing disc mode, 5 in 1 says 'USB PASS'

itunes cannot verify the ID of server error message

I have been having a big problem with iTunes.

I have itunes installed on a Windows 8 machine which was migrated over from an old XP machine. Everything works for my account. I have now tried to set up my wife's account. I created a new Win 8 account (local) for her and set up iTunes. All of her music populated in the library. I then tried to establish connection to the iTunes store and got the following error:



"iTunes cannot verify the identity of the server init.itunes.apple.com. The certificate for this server was signed by unknown certifying authority" It then goes on to say that it may be an impostor server and proceeding could be dangerous or words to that effect. It gives a choice of "continue" or "cancel."



I have been hitting continue and it leads to more popups with similar server errors for "p.36.buy.itunes.apple" and "xp.apple.com" and "upp.itunes.apple.com"



Finally after all of that the store window opens but it is blank.



I have searched this forum and apple's and have not found a solution. I tried clearing the cache and I even re-installed itunes. Pretty frustrating!

CD-text so iTunes can use it?

Is there a way, or an application, that I can use to burn an audio CD with CD-Text so that iTunes can use the information when tagging songs, if I ever have to rip them from the CD again?



I really don't want to have to type all of that information manually each time I need to rip the CD...

Sync problems with 5S

I have iTunes 11.3 on my Mac. Lately I've noticed that when I add or remove audiobooks, that I can add them, but when I un-check the books I've listened to thay are not removed. I can't restore, because iTunes says there is not enough room on the device.



Any suggestions?
