Charger query

Hi,
I have an iPad that uses the old wider charger plug.
I have an Ipod Classic, which uses the same size plug....that's the white plug that fits into the iPad and iPod.

Is it OK to use the iPad charger on my iPod Classic?
Going away for a few weeks and I'd like to carry just one charger.
