Organizing audiobooks by author then title on ipod classic

Greetings,

When I sync my ipod to my itunes, my audiobooks are displayed alphabetically by book title. Is there a way to sort it by author name first, so I can scroll through author names then select a specific book by that author?

I know I can organize things this by author, then title, if I save my audio books as a "music" media type but I don't want my books to clutter up my music section.

I also know that people use playlists to organize folders for authors, then create sub-folders for specific book titles for that author. I could do this but it seems like there should be an easier away to organize my books by adjusting some preference setting.

Any help would be appreciated, I've been searching the internet for hours trying to find a solution to this problem.
