iPod Nano 4th Gen Won't boot

Hi,

I've just dug up back my iPod Nano a year later because it refused to startup and I haven't been able to find time to try to fix it. I really can't stand not using it because using my phone as my music player and everything is just killing the battery and the phone itself. Anyways, when I try to start it up, the device will not go past the white Apple Logo no matter how many times I try. When I listen closely when I try to boot it up, I hear a high pitched squealing noise coming about from it. In Diagnostics mode, everything seems to be in working order except for the Accelerometer. If I go under ACCEL in the diagnostics tool, nothing will show up. I want to know if this could be a reason why my iPod will not boot successfully anymore because I've heard some iPhones do not start because of the same issue. I've restored it countless of times to no avail. In fact, I have to put the device in Recovery mode just to get it detected by Windows. Any help will be thankful!
