Computer Requirements for Podcast

We've been using an old school laptop to record our podcast and recently had some major audio issues. The audio was jumbled and stuttering. It looks fine (sexy waves) but terrible audio.

So we think we need to upgrade. What's the minimum requirements to record audio and edit?
