Lost

Hello, i have a 5th gen ipod and was having problems with the hard drive so i read somewhere that all you needed to do to save your music was to
goto my comp
click on ipod
ipod cpntrol
music
copy all files to another drive
all went well now i want to put the files back on to ipod but when i copy and paste the files are copied but no music files shown on ipod or itunes ...totally lost! please someone help me
