Battery saving wallpapers

Is anybody able to tell me 100% sure if this is possible? a friend of mine told me that i should install very dark or completely black wallpapers, such as the ones belown, because this should save me battery time because it doesnt required the background light to turn on.

anyone who can confirm if this is true?
