How to retrieve .itl file from iPod

I accidentally re-formatted my external HD!!! Someone retrieved a lot of the music files on it but now they are not grouped by albums; they are listed individually by alphabetical letter.

So I am going to transfer my music files from my iPod to my new ext HD. I'm wondering if there is a way to also isolate the .itl and .xml files from the iPod (if they exist there) and transfer them to my HD so I can re-create my iTunes library without starting over.

Avoid Cheap Headphone Sockets (2nd, 3rd Gen)

Hi guys,

I recently repaired my girlfriends iPod 3rd Gen. I bought a cheap headphone socket like this from eBay:

I assumed that being an aftermarket part it would work okay. It was cheaply made, but so long as it was soldered okay it would be fine right? Wrong.

I soldered it and there were issues with interference. Turning the plug in the socket seemed to cause noise and issues and sometimes the volume in one ear would go down. I complained to the seller and was sent a new one for free. This one was already damaged on arrival with part of the ribbon cable being lifted off the pad. They sent a third one which suffered from exactly the same problem as the first.

Now I did consider it a possibility that perhaps my soldering skills were letting me down, so I obtained an OEM part. Luckily there was a shop gone into liquidation and were selling genuine parts and I got one for cheap, but normally these parts go for about £5 on the internet.

Soldered it in last night, works perfectly.

iCloud Bookmarks not syncing in Firefox on PC

My iCloud isn't working and therefore my bookmarks are not syncing between my iPod Touch and Firefox on my PC. When I open iCloud on my PC the options are unchecked and when I check Bookmarks I am sent to a website to download an add-on, which doesn't work. When I open iCloud again it is unchecked still. I haven't tried syncing with Internet Explorer yet, and I can always export my Bookmarks from Firefox as a HTML to back them up, but I have no way of backing up my Bookmarks from my iPod. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm using Windows 7. Thanks

Contact issues between Outlook 2010 and iPhone 6

I have been having issues with the contacts in both my iphone and outlook. When searching for a contact that I know is there the search results can't find it.

If you scroll through the contacts you can find the same contact that I just searched for. This happens in outlook and on the iphone. I have cross searched and both have different results. It will show in outlook and not iphone and vice versa.

Our IT dept has attempted to fix it but can't come up with anything.

Any thoughts?

Sharing iTunes media across accounts w/ External Drive

believe I know "how" to do this, but have a question about what happens if I go this route.

Background:
Set up a new iMac and put our music on an external drive. I was able to map my user account to the library using the "alt" / find library process.

Now, I've got separate accounts for my wife and two kids and want to get their iTunes set up using the same media.

Home sharing works great if computer is on and I'm logged in, but that's not great solution for us. I also don't want to put my iTunes folder in the shared folder, since I want my music and videos on the external drive.

It does seem like I can use the "alt"/find library process for each account and it should work, though I understand only one user can use the library at a given time. That shouldn't be a problem for how we use our computer.

Now, assuming the process works, my question - for those who have done this - here is my question: Can each individual user still customize their usage of iTunes to their liking? More importantly can each person customize what gets synced to their devices (phone/iPad)?

What Mobile Games do you play?

I've been playing a lot of mobile games lately, however, sometimes i get bored of the repeat gameplay that developers publish in both IOS and Google Play. I'm looking for a unique and new game to play, can you suggest one for me?

I love rpg and mmorpg games.

Currently the only game i've been playing is Dragon EncounterTM. I've been playing it for quite awhile right now and I'm having a great time with it. Maybe you guys should try it. The game has costume customization, real time pvp and really amazing graphics. But i need diversity of games to play with my phone.

smartlist

I am using the latest version of Itunes and I want find all the missing tracks. I have been looking online for the procedure and found "Scans all tracks of the Library for those files that iTunes can find and adds them to a playlist called Found.It this is a script I ran , and I have created a list of all found files
Use in conjunction with a smart playlist called Lost consisting of the rule Playlist is not Found, to identify missing files within the library."

I ran the script that created a "found folder" but am not able to figure out how to make a playlist for the lost files using a smartlist.

Music re-selects itself in iTunes

A strange thing is happening in iTunes on my Mac. Every couple of days, several hundred songs (the same ones every time) re-select themselves in iTunes. Then I have to select them all to right-click and de-select them. There is no rhyme or reason as to when and why this happens.

The support folks at Apple suggested a new installation of iTunes, a new libary, and an upgrade to El Capitan. I did all of these things and it's still happening.

My itl file is on my Mac in Music as it should be. My media is all on an NAS. There literally have been no changes to the system to make this happen except for any upgrades of iTunes and I don't know which one this started happening on.
Anyone else having this problem and have a solution?

iPod Classic 6g 80gb deep sleep after 30 or so minutes

Hello, like the title says, after about 30 minutes, (give or take) of my iPod being in sleep mode, it goes into deep sleep. instead of 24 hours. Also i believe it shuts off the clicker noise (turns it off in the settings automatically by itself) when it does. I was wondering if anyone knows whats wrong with it? I installed a new battery, could that be the issue?

Reminder alerts different between iphone and icloud

I see different reminder alert options depending on whether I'm setting up an event on my phone or on icloud. If I pick a certain option in icloud, when it syncs to the phone, there are suddenly TWO alerts -- and neither one is what I originally selected when creating the event.

WTF?!? How stupid is that. Never mind, rhetorical question/comment.

Seriously, though, is there some setting that would fix this inconsistent-across-platforms behavior?

missing songs on Itunes latest version

I have a little over 6000 songs on Itunes 12.3.3.17. Yesterday I noticed many (over 400) were missing or could not be located. The little exclamation point to the left of the song indicated this. So I spent considerable amount of time finding the songs online and replacing them. I added maybe 20 songs. Today they are all back. Nothing has changed in my library except the 20 or so songs I added. Is there an explanation for this? Is this a corrupt program?

Playcounts not updating

I've tried searching for this without success so I'm hoping someone has some ideas.

Is my new podcast mic defective?

I am a musician so I know about PA systems; Wanting to make a podcast I bought an inexpensive mic for practice and sent it back since it did not seems to work- it didn't seem to respond: no voice elevation sound or response to touched. I sent it back as defective, and bought a nicer one; my podcast idea is very simple, so I bought a simple, but not cheap mic- I am experiencing the same lack of response, but it is hard to believe I am that unfortunite, to have TWO mics not work NIB.:o:confused: How do I know if it works? Keep in mind, I have a less then ideal laptop situation. I have google chrome (don't recommend at all)

I just updated iTunes but now my iPod won't connect

I guess my iPod is too out of date. It won't show up on I tunes but just on the computer itself. The iPod shows it's connected but the iTunes ignores it. I tried this several time the first couple times when connected the iPod to my computer nothing happened even the showdown an empty battery icon where nothing was plugged in and the 3rd time just the computer would recognize it and the pod would show that it's connected. But iTunes itself would never recognize my iPod.

Music in several places. Help!

I have just checked and I have iTunes music in several places:
/Volumes/External Disc/iTunes/iTunes Media/Albums in Folders
/Volumes/External Disc/iTunes/Albums in Folders
/Volumes/External Disc/Music/Albums in Folders
/Volumes/External Disc/Albums in Folders

I think this is probably because of the length of time I have been using iTunes and the changes in location it has made. I have all the boxes ticked in preferences:
Keep iTunes Media folder organised
Copy files to iTunes Media folder ...

How can I get iTunes to move all the Music to one place? Does Consolidating them move them?

Nice way to record iPhone/iPad screen

A few days ago, I was about to record Clash Royale on my iPhone 6 to share my game tricks, however, I find there are no such apps available in App Store for doing this trick. Then I spent a long time searching in Google, but all my efforts turns in vain. There were some screen recording apps available, however, now they all had been removed from the store.

Finally, I find a way out which is by using Apowersoft iPhone/iPad Recorder to mirror iOS Devices to Windows/Mac, and then make the screen recording. The audio from the phone can also be captured. And this program also allows for taking screenshots.

Tips: This application does not require jailbreaking your devices or using any lightning cables. Simply set your iPhone and computer in the same Wi-Fi network, then you can use it.

This is indeed a useful tool for recording iOS screen and taking screenshots.

2 iphones

Here is the deal. I got an iPhone 6 from my company for my work phone. I set up an Apple ID because my personal phone was an android. Once I started using my work phone, I liked it so much that I bought an iPhone 5s for my personal phone. When I set up my personal phone I used the same Apple ID. For some reason, when I get some text messages and send some, it comes to both phones or shows that I sent from both phones. It hasn't happened yet, but I am afraid that I might receive something on my work phone that is meant for my personal phone that might not be "work appropriate." I am not great with electronics, but was hoping someone here could help me out. I would like to change the Apple ID for my work phone, but just didn't know if I could without going through the whole setup process. I don't want to spend another morning with our I.T. guy at work to set this stupid thing up again. He said my phone shouldn't do that, but just thought I would try to get some help here. HELP!!ipod nano nothing but blank screen look fine

I was listening to my IPod nano Third Generation 4Gwith the iPod/ MP3 Universal Car Audio Cassette Adapter yesterday in the car and everything was going fine iPod played perfectly . We had a problem with our electric cooler cord plugged into the cigarette lighter so I moved the iPod out of the way so it wouldn't get dropped on the floor while my husband was trying to fix the cooler plug I put it on the sun visor and I put the other sun visor over it so it wouldn't fall off. Well guess what,? my iPod won't play now. All I have is a blank screen and nothing It won't turn on it won't turn off. It doesn't at all look smashed. Could I have ruined it someway by putting it between two visors. I wouldn't think an iPod would be that sensitive. I ran over an ipod nano with a car once and it was smashed to pieces but it played. Any idea what could be wrong with it? Other than a blank screen it seems in good shape. I see no damage at all no dents no scratches in fact it still looks new It had played fine 3 mins before that. It was only between the 2 sun visors not more than 4 minutes. Any idea what could be wrong with it? I have tried hooking it up to the computer but the computer says it is not connected The iPod doesn't show up on my iTunes I put it on the radio charger but nothing. I tried pushing menu I tried forward reverse still blank screen Any help would be appreciated

What happens if I restore my iphone from backup and then create new iTunes account because I'm considering getting a new phone and I want to keep most of data (music, photos, Safari data, contacts, notes, books etc) but I can't access my iTunes account (the back up isn't encrypted) because it keeps saying my password is wrong, even when I change it and get a confirmation email that it has been changed.
So I was wondering if I restore a iPhone from my backup but then create a new account, would it delete all of my data (apps I can redownload that's fine), would it get rid of all my information in iTunes or would it not affect any of my data in iTunes asides from my account details?

Email Delivered to iPhone days later, deleted from Home PC?

I have noticed something lately.

I'll get email delivered by my ISP to my PC. I read/delete from my PC.

How come email that is sometimes a day older, sometimes even 5 days old will appear in my inbox on my iPhone even after it's been delivered and deleted on my PC?

I don't keep my phone's email application open at all. I tap on it, and sometimes there's a flood of emails.

Any ideas people?

Starting over: Setting up as New

Ok I'd like to set up my phone as new (iPhone 6 bought in November 2014). Basically had some battery weirdness (larger than normal percentage jumps mainly and the impression of less usage). Just came back from the Apple store for the 2nd time in as many months. They said my diagnostics check out - battery is fine - as is the hardware. Think it might be a good idea to clean things up and "start over" so what do I need to do?

This is my plan to prepare:
1)Took screenshots of every page and ever folder's page - hough I'll likely rearrange and not reinstall some apps anyway.

2)I backup all my contacts to outlook on my PC should be easy to restore.

3) Messaging apps. Will iMessage be restored? What about others like Telegram or Whatsapp? I presume it depends on the app?

3)Settings and passwords will need to be entered again - that's ok - I assume I'll have to setup touch ID again?

4)Photos, all backed up on my computer by habit (no iCloud thanks). Anyway to put them back on my phone after restoring as new?

5) Music. No worries about my ripped and iTunes or elsewhere purchased and downloaded music, I backup my iTunes library anyway and it will be simple, if time consuming to put it back. I wonder about my Apple Music preferences would I need to redo them or are they linked to my account?

6) Apps: well I’ll have to sign-in to some apps again etc. Some apps use iCloud or their own cloud backup so no problem. I don’t understand why apps can’t be backed up on the Mac or PC but anyway.

Anything else I should be aware of?

Ripped CDs now MPEG not AAC

I rip my CDs using iTunes and the AAC encoder [iTunes Plus]. I recently moved my music from one computer to another, now when I look at the track info of ripped CD's it says it's an MPEG audio file instead of an AAC audio file [it 100% used to say AAC audio file]. The songs still say they are encoded with iTunes.



The same thing has also happened to some, not all purchased iTunes tracks. Instead of saying Purchased AAC audio file, it now says MPEG audio file, but it still has the date when I purchased the tracks & the fixed 256vbr.



When I go into Windows Explorer and find the actual song files it also still says they are M4A or MPEG-4 files not MP3 or MPEG.



The only thing different on this computer is that the moved tracks are now not in the iTunes music folder they are in their own self contained folder [I prefer it this way. It helps me sort it out better]



None of this actually bothers me, but I'm worried I have somehow converted them without knowing & they have now lost some sound quality. Any reply would be much appreciated.

iTunes 12.1.0.71 scrambled the playlist I was setting up for a pool party. All the songs in the playlist are now in alphabetical order.

Music from one hd to another

At the present moment I have 75,000 songs on itunes. Can be found currently under edit>preferences>advanced in the box I have the location as K:/Music Files.
My new hard drive has a folder also called Music Files (this has almost 90,000 songs). (F:/Music Files).
If i was to turn off my K external hard drive and then switch on my F external hard drive and then under edit>preferences>advanced in the box change the location to F:/Music Files would all the music automatically be captured on itunes?

....or would I need to go to file>add folder to library and direct it to F:/Music Files and then wait hours for the library to fill up.
If I am talking rubbish please direct me to te easiest way please.

Heavy yet thin case

Hey, all. Excited about the launch of the iPhone SE, but at the same time a little concerned about the 5 body, as I wasn't a fan of it in the first place. I got a 5c when the 5S came out: I feel it's the better design, more comfortable in the hand, and DENSER. The reassuring feeling that I was holding a good, solid piece of technology went away when Apple crossed from the 4 body to the 5, and it hasn't come back. The 5c was heavier than the 5S, and thus it retains some of that solid feel I like.

Anyway, the tech tradeoffs I made back then in 2013 I went ahead and made (64-bit chip, Touch ID, better camera). Now in 2016 the desire for updated tech has grown greater than my coolness on the 5 body design, so I've ordered a SE.

Now...

SOME of this can be mitigated by a case. So I'm looking at cases, and finding some of interest, but I figure this is the place and the community to go to to get other opinions. What case would you suggest for my new SE that meets some of the following things I'm looking for:

(a) Slim design (protection is not the issue, hand feel is), less sharp corners
(b) Adds significant weight, so I assume metal

Those two should help with the density and hand feel issues. The following others would be nice, too:

(c) Gloss rather than matte
(d) Would prefer blue or blue tint. I'm surprised how hard that is to find in my searches! Ideal color is the blue of the iPhone 5c.

Background iOS updates

Not sure this is the right place to put this. I notice that iOS updates are downloading themselves if attached to a power source, WiFi and after 22:00 hours. I have background App refresh set to off and I don't want iOS to download itself ever - my ISP off-peak starts at 24:00. Is there a way, short of turning wiFi off each night to stop this happening?

Streaming with IPOD Touch

I don't have an ipod touch, but I'm looking into getting one. I understand there is a way to stream music from itunes if the ipod touch is connected to the same wifi network as the computer running itunes. I was wondering, is there a way to stream music from itunes over the internet?

For example, let's say the computer that's running itunes is in my house and is on. Let's say I'm using my ipod touch and I am at work (which is at a separat e location) connected to wifi there. Is there a way I can stream music from my itunes at home while I'm at the other physical location (as long as both devices are connected to the internet (although they may be on separate wifi networks)?

Apps gone!

All my apps have disappeared from my iTunes library.

iTunes also refuses to let me transfer the apps from my iPhone or iPad. The menu command is there, and I select it, but nothing really happens.

This happened before I did a fresh install of Windows 10, along with iTunes 12.3, but the problem still persists. My iTunes account is with the UK (though I’m outside of the country at the moment) and the registration email and password have changed. However, it is still the same account as if I go to Account Information, then Purchase History, all my (500+?) apps are, as far as I can tell, shown. I have, of course, re-booted, made sure devices are authorised, logged into the same accounts … I’ve been messing about with this for too long!

Any inspiration would be very gratefully received.

IOS9.3 bricks iPhone-Only Photo Editing Apps on iPads

I have upgraded all my iPhone and iPad devices to iOS9.3.1 today and found in ALL of my dozens of iPhone-only photo editing apps (e.g., Hipstamatic) when running on an iPad (Air or Pro) the thumbnails will not appear in the image picker function. They are there, but invisible, and can be blindly selected. I have tried more than two dozen iPhone apps and the all experience the same problem, and none of the Universal apps display this problem. Everything was fine under iOS 9.2. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?

Ipod losing battery power when disconnected

I have an 80gb 5th gen ipod classic. A couple of years ago I replaced the battery because it wouldn't hold a charge anymore, just recently I had a problem with it losing battery power after it is disconnected from the dock stations I have. So I changed the battery again and it's still losing power. Can someone tell me what is going on here?

ipad plug dropped

i had my ipad plug http://ift.tt/1SuVZf2 plugged into an extension cord and our cleaning mustve had an accident because sometimes she gets behind things to clean, anyway she mustve snaged on the cord and the plug dropped and now the fron section is disconnected. i can't explain look at the photot to understand, you know that section? it seperaated and i do not know how to hook it back into place. please help!

iPhone Music via Aux In for Car

Recently upgraded my iPhone 4S to a 6S and was unable to play music via my car stereo "Aux" input. For my 4S, I used a Kensington "LiquidAux" adapter, but this is not available for the 6S.

Have now found a new adapter called the "Lightning Sounds Kit" which provides both USB charging and Aux Out (3.5mm mini) from the iPhone's Lightning connector.

I bought it on eBay, but it's also listed on Amazon. Works great.
