Unable to delete a track on IPod

Hi,

I have a 21 minute audio track that I cannot delete. It's right there on my IPod, but when I hook it up to the computer and get on ITunes and go to "On this Ipod" it doesn't show up anywhere so I am unable to delete it. I have tried filtering it through length etc, but it's like it is hiding or something.

Can you help?

Thank you,

Linda

Deleting sync'd photos

I'm trying to delete photos on my Ipad that were taken with my iphone (photos that came over in the syncing process). I can only delete the ones taken with the Ipad. On the other photos (from the iphone) the 'trash can' button is not active.

iTunes removes ratings

I've been using iTunes since the 1st gen Nano. I have a 5th gen since it came out and one really really annoying thing of late is iTunes will remove the ratings from my content.

I rarely listen to music. Just spoken word. I'll have anywhere from 10 to 50 of these files on my Nano and rate them a 5 if I'm in the middle of listening to one and a 1 when I'm finished listening to it. Rating it a 1 lets me easily and quickly find the ones that are done and they get deleted. I upgraded iTunes this morning and when I plugged in my Nano the ratings were gone. Now I can find the files that I have listened to and the one that I'm currently listening to but it just takes a lot longer. This seems to be happening a lot more lately when iTunes upgrades. On the last upgrade what I would do is start iTunes first then plug in my Nano. That way the ratings stayed.

This is really a pain in the butt. I know apple uses an itl and a xml database files. I'm using Win7. Why do the ratings in these files not get transferred to the new itl file when iTunes is upgraded? I've noticed this time that after I unplug the Nano the ratings are still on the files it should be on but still doesn't show up in iTunes. Sort of pointless since the reason of the ratings is to use then while in iTunes.

Anyone got any answers?

Supersimple phone as iPod Accessory

Hey guys, new here on iLounge.

I have been wanting the iPod touch 5 for a while,

but I already own an xperia Z, and do not see a reason

to have both. So, should I sell my Xperia to get the iPod

and use a supersimple phone like John's Phone with it? And do you have any alternatives to Johns Phone?

Please, don't ask why I wont rather buy an iPhone or other Android phones.

I've learnt from experience, iOS is the best for me, and iPod Touch is the

nicest looking, thinnest and most portable and cheapest (the main reason)

of the Apple family, in my opinion.

Any one else not able to charge iPhone 5S

Both me and my boyfriend bought the iPhone 5S last Monday. All worked find, charging from a wall plug, through usb and even using a lightening adaptor both ways. Yesterday we both upgraded to 7.0.2 and now we can't charge using a wall plug AT ALL. Usb only. This is on 2 phones the same problem. We have the 5c 64 GB (silver though that should not make a difference) Anyone else??

How hard is it to log in to a iPhone 5S with your fingerprint

Gang,

Someone's review of the fingerprint login on the new iPhone 5S said that it worked for him every single time.

Not so for me. I scanned in three of my fingers. About every third time I have to try more than once or move my finger around before the phone will unlock. It just takes a couple seconds more in those cases, but still annoying.

My fingerprints are very clear... no manual labor by me :).

What is your experience using the fingerprint login?

Feel of Home Button on your iPhone 5S

Hi Folks,

The home button on my new iPhone 5S depresses very deeply, which I'm kinda bummed about. Because of that, it feels like it takes more work to click on it, and so double-clicking to get to the active app list seems like a lot of effort.

Is it that way on your way on yours? I'm trying to figure out if they messed up on the button on my phone or if this is by design.

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5

When Apple released the iPhone 4S, the masses moaned that it wasn't a significant technological leap forward from the original iPhone 4.

But is the same true of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5? Will the internet clog with the festering opinions of disappointed Apple fans?

Apple's commitment to iterative product development suggests so. The question is: where is the 5S better? Screen? Processor? You'll find the answers in the comparison review below...

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Build

At first glance, the 5S looks identical to the old iPhone 5 and, sure enough, a quick read of the spec sheet reveals that their dimensions and weight are identical - 123.8 x 58.6 x 7.6mm and 112g.

The only physical differences are the redesigned Home button, which incorporates the new Touch ID fingerprint sensor and is surrounded by a thin stainless steel ring; and the dual LED flash (one white light, one amber light) around the back.

Where the iPhone 5 was available in two color choices - black or white, the new 5S has silver/white, 'space grey'/black and gold/white options. The gold version is either snazzy or ridiculous, depending on your point of view.

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Display

The iPhone 5S and the now discontinued iPhone 5 both feature the same 4-inch Retina display with the same 640 x 1136 pixel resolution.

We've seen bigger and better - the Samsung Galaxy S4 has a 5-inch 1080 x 1920 display, while the HTC One has a 4.7-inch 1080 x 1920 screen.

But the iPhone 5S/iPhone 5 panel is still good enough for gaming, video-watching and flicking through those Jonny Ive-produced iOS 7 menus.

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Camera

While both phones feature an 8 Megapixel camera on the back and a 1.2 Megapixel lens on the front, that doesn't tell the whole story.

Apple has made some improvements to the iPhone 5's camera, including adding image stabilisation, live photo filters and a new Burst mode that takes 10 shots per second and automatically suggests the best one.

Where the iPhone 5 had a bog-standard LED flash, the iPhone 5S has a dual LED (True Tone) flash to reduce the intensity of the light and help you take better photos.

Apple has also improved the image sensor, lens cover and f/2.4 aperture - the iPhone 5S camera has a 15 per cent larger sensor and an improved f/2.2 aperture to let in more light for brighter results.

Finally, the iPhone 5S can take better 1080p video too. The main 8MP camera now has a slow-motion video feature plus video stabilisation to reduce unwanted camera wobble.

The front-mounted iSight camera also features an improved backside illumination sensor (BIS) for better performance when FaceTiming in the gloom.

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Connectivity

With the iPhone 5S heading for China Mobile and NTT Docomo, plus a range of different countries around the world, it supports more LTE bands than the iPhone 5.

It's the only real difference between the 5S and its predecessor. Both include 3G/HSDPA and CDMA2000 1xEV-DO support, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.

There's also a version that supports the TD-LTE technology that's beginning to pop up around the world.

No NFC this time. Perhaps Apple is saving that for the iPhone 6...

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Processor

New iPhones, especially flagship models, typically get a speed boost and the iPhone 5S is no different.

Where the iPhone 5 has an A6 processor, the 5S debuts Apple's 64-bit A7 chip - the first 64-bit processor to appear in a smartphone.

With over one billion transistors (twice as many as the A6), Apple claims that the A7 is twice as fast as the A6 and 40 times more powerful than the original iPhone.

The A7 also includes an M7 co-processor designed to monitor the data from the phone's accelerometer, compass and gyroscope.

This data will help future fitness apps more accurately track your movements. But in the short-term there are other benefits - the Maps app can switch to walking directions if it detects you aren't driving, while the M7 can reduce network activity if the sensor data tells it that your phone hasn't moved for some time.

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Software

While the iPhone 5S comes with iOS 7 pre-installed, iPhone 5 owners can sleep safe in the knowledge that they can upgrade their phones to match.

What they won't get is the Touch ID app, which offers fingerprint security and works with the fingerprint sensor built into the iPhone 5S Home button.

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Storage

The iPhone 5S takes its capacity cues from the iPhone 5, offering the same three storage options - 16GB, 32GB and 64GB.

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Battery Life

In terms of battery life, the spec sheets tell us that the iPhone 5S just edges out the old iPhone 5. It's rated at 10 hours of talk time on 3G, while the iPhone 5 can only muster 8 hours.

Standby time is calculated to be 250 hours for the 5S and 225 hours for the iPhone 5. Average usage is much the same - 10 hours on LTE, up to 10 hours on Wi-Fi, up to 10 hours of video playback and up to 40 hours of audio playback.

That doesn't sound impressive until you consider that, thanks to the A7 processor, the iPhone 5S is twice as fast.

Apple iPhone 5S vs. Apple iPhone 5 - Early verdict

If you crave a new iPhone, then the 64-bit iPhone 5S is a decent upgrade.

It may not have a better screen or more storage, nor does it have a significantly superior camera or vastly improved connectivity.

But since the announcement of the iPhone 5S and the lower-spec iPhone 5C, the original iPhone 5 has disappeared from the Apple Store, never to return.

The 5S is pricey though - on a two year contract, the 16GB model will cost $199, the 32GB model $299 and the 64GB 5S $399. Ouch.

Anybody could help me, please? And give me detailed list of things what to do? Or any other solution how to get music from ipod on my laptop for free?

(I tried also yamipod and it looks as it does similar thing? Is it because the ipod is relatively new?)

Thank you very much

Might be wanting the impossible? iTunes, NAS, 2 Computers 2 libraries

Hi

There are two of us, each having our own iTunes accounts. I would like to set it up so all the media (video and music) is stored on my NAS, we have a mac in the office that we each have an account for but is not always on, giving us a library each. We use this to put content onto our iPads and iPhones. We have a second mac mini in the lounge for recording tv, watching on demand content and iTunes. I would like it that the lounge mini accesses both our libraries so we don't have to switch when we want to listen to something, plus we like some of each others music. But I want the lounge mini to update play counts and watched / unwatched flags for the office mac so when updating iPads we don't put stuff on we've already watched... Is this at all possible?

Thanks in advance

I have turned off sounds from just about every app i think it can be, and it still happens. It's loud, and piercing, and totally random. It seems to happen more in the evening hours. I set up my Mac to audio record, and a caught a couple, and I'm HOPING someone here can identify this and tell me what app it is. It's actually startled me awake a few times. It's got to go.

Hopefully this dropbox link works...

Question about iMessage and SMS

I upgraded to ios7 and i have an iPhone 5. I sent a text to someone who also has an iphone and my previous texts were being sent as an iMessage. Is that a bug or is there an option somewhere to change it back?

Need a Good Calendar App

Hello. A search of my posts will tell you how I've struggled to get the iphone calendar to work the way I want it to. The change with the new iOS7 is the last straw for me using the built-in calendar. I'm looking for an app to take over my scheduling. Right now, Goo CAl (Google) and Fantastical are the leaders, but I want some opinions. What I MUST have is the ability to color-code events, label some as "all-day," and keep events synced wirelessly through the cloud to my home PC, my i-pad, and my wife's iphone. In a perfect world, I could also use my PC to copy/paste events, import CSV files for my sports teams schedules, and print monthly calendars (now, I just "print-screen" the cloud calendar and print that, but it doesn't look very good!) Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Find Friends useless after iOS7 update

Our family used the Find Friends app a lot of keep track of what's going on and where every one was. IN the past as long as it was installed on each device and everyone had permission you could get updates on the whole group even if the app was not running in the background.

Since the iOS7 update this is no longer the case. you can only track individuals if they keep the app running in the background. It makes the app virtually useless since it requires constant maintenance to make sure everyone always has the app running.

Apple support was of very little help. They put in a ticket but didn't seem to know much about the problem which was surprising since its their own app and a pretty popular one.

Does anyone here have info on this or know of any alternative app with the same functionality?

Seriously, you can't drag-and-drop new files into iTunes anymore?

So for the past, like, ever, the way I've imported new files into iTunes is first I move the files (.mp3, or whatever) into the "iTunes Media" folder (so it's already there, and doesn't have a second copy made on importing), then just drag them into iTunes into whatever playlist I want them in. Today, after upgrading to iTunes 11, (EDIT: 11.1, I guess I already had 11.0) I can't seem to drop the files into iTunes. I just get the "no parking" circle when I try.

Is there something I'm missing, or does this mean that the only way to import files now is using the "File -> Add file/folder to library" options?

Does anybody have a link to the previous version's installer, so I can downgrade? I should have known better than to update without a backup in place...

EDIT: Well I managed to downgrade to my previous version (11.0) using Windows' "Previous Version" feature on the "Program Files (x86)/iTunes" folder. Although for whatever reason (I guess since it was in the Program Files folder?) I was not able to "restore" it automatically, I had to copy the backup version to my desktop and then restore it manually. Then it said "iTunes Library.itl could not be read because it was created with a different version of iTunes." Luckily iTunes makes automatic backups of the library any time this happens, so I just copied/renamed that one, and it seems to have worked. All my media is still in place, and I'm dragging/dropping files into iTunes. Fingers crossed that something else isn't broken that I just haven't discovered yet...

Old Tricks Help German Hackers Bypass iPhone 5s Touch ID Security

Apple's Touch ID authentication system can be defeated using a well-honed technique for creating a latex copy of someone's fingerprint, according to a German hacking group.

The Chaos Computer Club (CCC), which hosts an annual hacking conference and publishes computer security research, wrote on its blog that their experiment shows that fingerprint authentication "should be avoided."

Apple introduced Touch ID with its latest high-end iPhone 5S on Sept. 10. A person's "fingerprint is one of the best passcodes in the world. It's always with you, and no two are exactly alike," according to the company's website.

A hacker who goes by the name Starbug found that while Touch ID scans at a higher resolution, it can be beaten by increasing the resolution of the victim's fingerprint.

The CCC posted a video of what it wrote is a successful attack. Faking the print involves photographing the victim's fingerprint at 2400 DPI. The image is inverted and laser printed at 1200 DPI onto a transparent sheet using a "thick toner setting," according to the CCC.

Pink latex milk or white wood glue is smeared into the pattern created the toner. After it cures, a sliver of latex is lifted from the sheet, and blowing on it gives a bit of moisture like that on a human finger. It then can be placed on the iPhone's fingerprint sensor, the CCC wrote.

The technique is not new. "This process has been used with minor refinements and variations against the vast majority of fingerprint sensors on the market," the CCC wrote. Apple officials did not have an immediate comment on the CCC's findings.

Security experts have long warned that fingerprint authentication should not be solely relied upon, but rather used in concert with other technologies. Photos of fingerprints and molds have successfully bypassed fingerprint checks.

Touch ID is intended to reduce the number of times a person must enter a passcode, but Apple still requires a passcode in some circumstances, such as restarting the phone and if the devices hasn't been unlocked in two days.

Changes to the fingerprint settings also require a passcode, which can be configured to be longer and more complex than four digits.

ios7 nightmare

Ever since ios7, I cannot manually put all my desired 3rd party songs and videos on the ipad 2. Per Apple "Care", I deleted/reinstalled itunes, and restored my ipad. When I drag the songs over, some go but most are greyed out in itunes and on the ipad. I want to manually sync, but when I drag some songs to the ipad, it puts a checkmark in the auto sync option on the music tab. When I drag movies over it changes my selection from manual sync to the checkmarked auto sync, which might be ok iF that worked but it doesn't. 5 hours so far, just wish I hadn't updated to ios7.

Getting photos synchronized across all iOS devices?

Hi fellows. I've a 3rd-gen iPod (iOS 5.1.1) touch, 3rd-gen iPad (iOS 7) & iPhone 3Gs (iOS 6.1.3). I'm trying to have all of them possess the same set of photos. At first I thought of using Photo Stream to synchronize (merge) their collections, but I realize that Photo Stream only grabs the most recent 1000 photos taken by each device & uploads them into my iCloud account, & since I haven't had Photo Stream enabled on 1 or 2 of the devices mentioned above, those devices will not have their current set of photos uploaded into iCloud even if I activate Photo Stream on them now (Read on a few websites that Photo Stream will only sync the images taken on your iPhone or iPad after you set it up and turn it on. So if you have existing images, they won’t sync.). For my iPod touch, some of the images are not even photos per se, i.e. they are images downloaded from emails, or saved from web pages. Likewise, across the 3 devices, there will be some images that are listed in the Photo apps, but not in the Camera Roll portion, so all in all, I'm rather unconfident that Photo Stream can achieve what I am after.

I have a Windows PC with iCloud Control Panel installed. I did think of manually copying all the photos from each device & manually placing them in the Photo Stream designated photo on the PC, which I presume Photo Stream will then proceed to download the set onto all the client iOS devices afterwards, but I've 2 concerns:

I. I will end up with duplicates of the photos already in my iOS devices, if Photo Stream, for some reason, cannot recognize that they are the same photo(s),

II. EXIF data from transferring here & there will be lost during (1) the copy from the device to the PC, (2) from the Photo Stream syncing downstream from the iCloud account to the devices.

Any systematic approach to get the entire set of photos across all my iOS devices to be in sync without losing the EXIF data of the photos?

2 iPhones on ONE Eligible Upgrade?

A friend of mine offered to sell me a new iPhone 5s for a good price, but I'm not sure if I should buy it BECAUSE I'm not sure if I'll be able to activate it...HELP?

Apparently, he ordered an iPhone 5s AT&T (UPGRADE ELLIGIBLE) online the moment they went on sale last Friday, and it's set to arrive today.

However, he also went to the store Friday morning and got a phone there (ALSO PAID JUST the $299 UPGRADE PRICE, I guess because the other phone hadn't shipped?)

In any case, he has the phone he bought in store activated to his account and working great, and the online order shipped (apparently charging only $299) and will arrive this afternoon, so he offered to sell it to me.

Isn't the IMEI tied to his account or something so that when I go to activate it will get rejected? Or will he get billed for the difference between subsidized and unlocked if I activate it (and then ask me for the money?%$)?

Any help is appreciated as I need to decide today whether to buy it...

To add a wrinkle, he's offering to switch colors because the phone that's coming is silver and he got Space Grey. He claims we can just swap SIMs??? (PS, I would prefer the space grey)

How do I set the phones up so contacts, emails, facetime stay separate from each other?

I currently have just one apple id for all 3 devices as I don't want to have to pay for apps twice.

Can someone put a step by step guide so the phones personal details stay separate but app music can be seen on both.

Lossless Audio is a waste of time and space...

Ok so I've been reading a lot of posts on this forum and doing a lot of general research across the web for months (hydrogen audio, ilounge, and many others) and have come to the conclusion that keeping lossless audio on hdd is a waste of time and space. I'd like to give my reasoning so far and hear any thoughts and opinions on this analysis, I'm open to counter arguments and changing my view but here is what I've come up with so far...

Many people argue the point that lossless audio is really for archiving purposes, easy library management, and flexibility for future compression without transcoding from lossy to lossy. The point of lossless is not for audio quality playback as many people (even studio engineers) state that 256aac is ultimately transparent, with many ppl (99%) unable to abx the 128-160aac range.

So if a lossy library could me made that is transparent, why would you need to keep lossless to change bitrate in the future? Many coders, engineers etc state that the psycho acoustic model is pretty much maxed out and wont yeild any significant increases in terms of transparency at lower bitrates, and humans ears aren't going to magically evolve or improve in our lifetime.

So the next thought is why tie yourself into one format. Some people ask what if apple go under. Unlikely, considering they are one of if not the most profitable companies in the world right now. Even if this does happen, almost everything plays back m4a/aac now, it's pretty much the standard across the board. MP3 is old and outdated now and has been for a while.

256 aac and above uses no lowpass filter so keeps all the frequencies from CD as well as still being overkill or totally transparent for almost everyone. Yet they are about 1/3 the size of a flac/alac.

They are the same as itunes store files to keep consistency.

They store volume leveling data in the file which alac does not.

Its a lot faster to transfer these files to ipod rather than encoding on the fly from a lossless file.

They play back on consoles like ps3 yet flac/alac do not.

Sure you can fit less music on a portable music device, but that file will be good enough for any headphones/home stereo system you get in the future, and you have peace of mind you wont hear artifacts like on a 128 aac, even on the go in the car or at home etc. Most portable devices are large enough to store hundreds of CDs worth of music at 256aac. iCloud allows for larger libraries to be synced on the go for people with large home libraries, eliminating the need for bigger and bigger amounts of memory on portable devices. For people with more than 160gb of music at any bitrate already has the issue of being unable to store all their music on one device.

Another issue raised is the cost of hdd's being so low, that there is no reason not to store lossless. This to me isn't a good enough reason to store lossless, just because you can. With no real, relevant reason behind it, its just wasteful. This slows down antivirus scans, makes backing up longer and more costly and is simply unjustifiable in my eyes to date (but like I said I'm open to any convincing ideas that differ or counter this).

I know I sound like I'm trying to convince myself here, and I am to some extent but I think they are valid points for other people to think about. My question is, why not just have a 256aac library to balance out the space, quality and convienience? What are the reasons not to do this? What are the reasons to keep a lossless archive of the music and transcode on the fly each time?

Notepad/handwriting app with templates?

Looking for a notepad/handwriting app with templates. I.e. the background will be a calendar, or a todo list with little squares to the left and lines, etc. Instead of just a blank page. I've found a couple apps with a couple templates but looking for a robust app with lots of templates. Thanks!

'export library' problem with iTunes

Hello

I have two Mac computers (one 10.6 and one with 10.7) in two differents places and one external HD containing my itunes library.

I would like to be able to use this library one my two computers without duplicating my library.

I made every settings to locate the library on my two computers and it works, but ...

Let's say I modify my library by modifying the 'genre' of a record and my computer 1. Then I choose 'export library' and re-import the created file in itunes on the computer 2.

The problem is that there are mistakes on the modified files : for instance only 10 out of 12 songs have the new 'genre' and the two other ones have the old 'genre'.

I tried several times but no changes.

Any solution ? Maybe there's another way to

Can I undo iOS 7 update?

I won't get on my soapbox about why I hate the new system but I want to go back to how it was before? It's not so much the features as it is the "look." I did a backup on itunes before the update. Can it be undone?

Painful ratings with iOS 7

I installed iOS 7 on my iPad 3 without too much drama. One of the first things that I noticed though was the difficult to use music rating system. I finally found where you can change the ratings on tunes, however you have to toggle to another screen to actually get to the next song. Going back and forth between screens isn't going to work for me, I may go back to iOS 6 for just this reason alone.

Has anyone found a work around, or is this just more of Apple's attempt to get rid of the rating system?

lack of iphone gaming time

I wander if your phone battery life enough for you??Though I enjoy playing games using phones lying in sofa or bed, my OEM battery can not support it. base on a simple test Ive made, my iphone5 will last just around 8 hours, less than the data I found from internet I dont know the exact reason.

Compare to my previous phones, I think iphone5 is not wrose than other phones with OEM batteries as it has about 8 and half hours.but I got myself a MPJ 2500mAh extended battery with easily swap tool, which allows me playing games for over 9 hours( mainly use it as a spare battery) now, and I dont need to have an extra case.

The only problem is I sometimes forget to do my assignments because of gaming! But for those only spend an hour each for calling, browsing and watching videos, iphone5 should be enough for two full days of usage, or one full day for heavier usage. But still, compare to samsung's high capacity battery, iphone5 is a bit of a letdown i think.

New Account same computer problem

Sorry to bother you with something so basic, but I can't google my way out of this one.

My wife Denise has been using my iTunes account to sync her phone, but now I want to set up a new account on the same computer, but we want to share my music library.

This is on Windows. I'd already moved my iTunes library to E: drive in the past (C: is a smaller flash drive). I created a new windows account for Denise, then launched itunes on the new account. As expected, the library is empty. Then I followed Apples instructions to point her iTunes at my music library as shown below:

Edit: I can't insert the image because I'm a new user, I'll use text:

------------------------------------

iTunes Advanced Settings:

Working Account (original)

iTunes Media folder location: E:\iTunes\iTunes Music

Keep iTunes Media folder organised (checked)

Copy files to iTunes Media folder (checked)

Empty Account (new)

iTunes Media folder location: E:\iTunes\iTunes Music

Keep iTunes Media folder organised (not checked)

Copy files to iTunes Media folder (not checked)

------------------------------------

I expected the music library to automatically display my music collection. But its still blank (seen in the background on the right). Quitting out and going back in does not help.

Any ideas?

Thanks for your time,

Tony.

Touch 4 users rise to arms for security fixes on iOS 6

It's not really the lack of support for iOS 7 with the Touch 4 that I am concerned with ... it is the fact that according to Threat Post there are some 80 (yes EIGHTY) vulnerabilities that presumably exist in iOS 6 that were fixed with iOS 7 that may not be addressed in iOS 6 at all that bothers me. Some of the vulns are pretty nasty. Rise to arms ... contact Apple and let them know the issues need to be addressed in iOS 6. I accept the fact that the hardware limitations on the Touch 4 preclude use of iOS 7 but cannot accept the fact that Apple might decline to fix security issues just because they do not feel like it. It leaves Touch 4 users with an unsafe device.

iTunes 11.1 x64 - The whole act of transferring is a puzzle

I just updated my iPod Touch 5 to iOS 7 3 days ago. I had problems doing it but because I thought it may have been the older version 10.7 playing up, so I was forced to update to v11.1.. I'd seen that some people did not like the newer interface of the v 11 series and I have to say I am a little puzzled by it.

I find transferring my songs and videos over to the Touch 5 is not working for me that well. It seems to be a hit and miss affair. I am finding that sometimes it appears to copy them over but the songs/movies don't always appear. I found a couple of ways to copy but don't really know what the heck I'm doing and/or which is the "correct" way...

1. I update the iTunes libray by copying the content into the iTunes libray via the browser and pressing on the "Open" button. All the songs and movies appear in the iTunes main window. I try to drag the content into the iPod icon at the upper far right, which opens up as the cursor gets close, then appears to accept them. One time it showed up in the iPods libray after appearing to copy over, taking a minute of two for the large movie to complete. I unplugged it and no new movie. Plugged it back in to iTunes and it's in the iTunes library but not in the iPod's library.

2. I browse to the new media via "Add New Files", load it into iTunes library, it appears as "there". I click on the iPod icon, far upper right, open it and go to On this Device or whatever it is and click on the Sync button. One time it did update and the movie appeared and I played once disconnected from iTunes but it was just a trial and I didn't really want that movie anyway so I plugged it back into iTunes and tried to delete it from the iPods library in iTunes but couldn't find a way to. There's no delete command in any menu or right click etc so I went back to the iTunes library and deleted it then back to the iPod and pressed Synch. Gone. Very Messy...

3. I load new media via 'Add New Files' in iTunes. It adds to iTunes' library. I go to the iPod's library and using the menu, I also browse to and add the same movies/songs. They now appear in the iPods library but don't appear to actually copy over. In desperation I hit the Sync button and it appears to load to the iPod. One time though, a couple of movies did copy and one of them did not...

What the heck am I doing?

I have not been able to find any user guide or real detailed help for v11 iTunes and am stumbling around in the dark... Is there any?

Can you help?

After Update All Email Marked "unread"

After updating to iOS 7, my email icon says I have 4,000 unread emails! I open the app, select all, and tap "Mark As Read," but they all remain unread. I am a Comcast customer and I also have the Xfinity App which is working OK. Search of keywords seem to indicate the problem has to do with it being a POP3 account. Don't know what that means or how to fix. I deleted the account from the phone for now and I only use the Xfinity app to read my mail. Will re-enter my account as soon as I find a way for it to work correctly. Thanks for any suggestions!

Updating to iOS 7.0 - iPod Touch 5

A total 2 day experience - here's how it went...

Device = iPod Touch 5

iTunes = initially v 10.7 - present = v11.1 (both 64 bit)

Day 1 - 3 days ago..

OK, I see that iOS 7 has now been released. Luckily I was a couple of days behind the 8 ball as many who crowded the severs on the release date experienced poor downloads and errors due to overloaded servers. I first d/l'd it from a third party (Jailbreak - Shhhh, who said that?) website, not that I jb my iPods, ok, just that it's very interesting to watch.

OK, I d/l'd an image approx 1.24GB in size called - iPod5,1_7.0_11A465_Restore.ipsw.

I plug my Touch 5 into the USB and the PC recognized it instantly, like usual. I fire up iTunes 10.7 which also sees the Touch 5.

On the SUMMARY page in iTunes, I hold down the shift key and click on the UPDATE button. This gives the ability to browse your PC for an update instead of going to apple.com etc. I browse to the image and choose it.

iTunes asks of I wish to update, and I do, so I click to update. I get all the details like unpacking, looking for etc etc.

Then ERROR 3004 pops up - can't update because, blah blah. Failed..!!

I then get the choice to restore the older version 6.01 which was the default iOS for the Touch 5, so I choose YES..

I allow a connection to apple.com and iOS v6.01 begins to download and about 10 minutes and 900 MB later, the restore began to happen.

After about 10 - 15 minutes more, I found myself back at the initial bootup sequence, just like a new Touch 5 does so. I got it going as per new and then restored a further system backup, which iTunes reommended.

BANG,,, back to where I left off, or where I was just prior to my attempted v7.0 iOS update... SQUARE ONE, in other words. Shell shocked and slightly put off the whole idea. Maybe it can just stay at v6.01...

Day 2..

Had done some reading on ERROR 3004 and found sweet fanny adams (very little) actual detail about it at all. But I did find that I should have iTunes v11.1 installed because it has the inbuilt specific ability to hand the iOS 7 updating, so I d/l'd it and installed - Yuck, I hate the interface - it's HORRIBLE...!! But I'll live.

I was online and had iTunes fired up with the Touch 5 plugged in, recharging. Oh what the heck I clicked on the Update button. It told me v7.0 was available, would I like to download and install or just download. I chose to just download and install later. 12 minutes later I found I had the exact same image I downloaded from the JB site, same name and exact same size down to the last byte. What the heck, I have iTunes 11.1 installed this time. I have the correct image so I'll try to update again. Surely this time it will succeed.

Again, I held the shift key down and clicked on the Update button.

I browsed to the iOS 7 image and clicked to install. Away it went, this time going much further, BUT, up came that ERROR 3004. What the @%& is this error..??

Again it offered to restore so I chose to.

Away it went again appearing to download but soon after it stopped, much sooner than yesterday's effort, after approx 5 minutes or so. Everything just came to a hault and a message in iTunes similar to "waiting for objects to update" popped up and it just sat there staring at me.

The Touch 5 had rebooted by this time and it also stopped with a white screen with some tiny tect across it. It looked like it was waiting for some input from me. It looked like a "first time" bootup on a new Touch 5, but different, so I played along and set some options - Wi-fi passowrd etc, which I simply bypassed,, and it finished and went to the desktop. Good lord that looks a little different than it was before - much brighter, more radiant. What has happened.?

iTunes was back to the Summary page, then I saw it - "iOS 7.0" - on the summary page. Huh,, I went into the Touch 5's - Settings/General/About and saw - version 7.0(11A465)...

I unplugged the Touch 5, rebooted just to make sure,, and Yes, there it is iOS 7.0...

Wow, that was easy - NOT...!!!

What do I think of iOS 7.0..?

Hey, it's installed and working, so I can't moan, well at least not too loudly anyway. I can't say I like the icons too much. They look like a 5 year old designed them - bright, featureless and in your face. The older icons are far better looking. There are differences in the layout when you go into them, especially when you go to play songs and movies, maybe I'll just have to get used to them before further comment...

For now, it's just "try and see"... The hard part is over - thank heavens. I'm still scratching my head though as to what happened, especially ERROR 3004...

After downloading iOS 7 I am prompted to enter a passcode, this wasn't present on previous iOS 6 etc version. I have followed the instructions General-Settings-Enter passcode-Tap Turn Passcode Off. This doesn't work. I haven't a MS Exchange account as some have noted. I am an individual home not a corporate user. I have read that many users have had this difficulty I have had no success at all. iPhone 5C

I got my iPhone 5C in the mail yesterday!

Just wanted to put a little review out there.

As you all know the 5C is basically a 5 but with a different back. So if you plan on getting a 5C I recommend only getting it if you are upgrading from a 4/4S.

I upgraded from a 4 so it was a BIG upgrade for me. AND I'm loving it!

Anyway, being made out of plastic, you would think it has a really "cheap" feel and look to it. But that just isn't the case.

It feels pretty solid and looks great!

Like I said before though, it is basically an iPhone 5. So if you already have a 5, just go ahead and jump for the 5S.

Wanting to get an iPod Classic. Need opinions though.

Hello,

I'm really thinking about selling my other iPods and getting an iPod Classic.

I have two iPod at the moment and they are iPod Nano 3rd gen, and iPod Nano 6th gen.

I have an iPhone 5C, so my primary use would be listening to music on it. (With headphones, or plugging up to radio in the car)

I don't really have a REALLY large library of music, but I want the security that I won't ever run out of room. (Both of my previous iPods are 8gb and have run out of room.)

So, do you guys think selling my two other iPods and getting an iPod Classic would be good for my situation?

Deleting Piodcasts

Hi all,

I've recently updated to 11.1 and IOS7 on my iphone 4s. Both went according to plan...I guess...as they both work.

My problem is I can no longer delete podcasts from itunes after listening to them. They remain in the "list" tab? with a cloud/arrow symbol to the right. It is confusing and annoying to have literally hundreds of podcasts I have no interest in listening to again still sitting there.

It was easy to delete them in the previous version.

Has anyone figured out a way to delete them and remove them from itunes?

Incase anti-glare screen protector for iphone 5

Windows itunes backup

Hi

I have a couple of questions

I currently have a external hard drive. It contains a backup of all my mp3 albums.

A while ago I copied the mp3's to a old Windows 7 laptop and spent a very long time sorting them out in itunes, making sure tracks in compilation albums were together and complete, the album art was correct etc etc.

I didn't mind spending the time to get things just right, but I don’t want to have to go through it again should my laptop crash. So how can I back up the music including changes I made in itunes?

Also would it be possible to take my itunes backup library and merge it with my brothers Itunes library on his PC?

Help needed!!!!!!

Ok, so, today, I got iOS 7 for my iPhone 4. The screen completey F***'d up, I don't have a clue what happened to it. I left it for a while and it was fine again. But the outskirts of the screen is still F***'d up. I think it's the inner screen that is F***'d up. So, I thought restoring the iPhone 4 would make the fuzzyness of the screen go away. My phone restored and now it wont activate, at all. I went past the 'choose a network' stage and then after that I clicked next and this is what comes up

'it may take a few minutes to activate your phone'

but then it says this

'Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it , or try again in a few minutes'

I connected it to iTunes and it said 'we could not complete your iTunes store request. The network connection was reset. make sure your network connection is active and try again'

My connection is fine. And as for the screen, it looks like all the colours are swirling around the screen. I don't know what caused any of these problems.

If someone could help me, then, that would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

iTunes won't play some of my purchaes

Hello iLounge Friends,

So, I'm writing to you because I'm having trouble with iTunes on my PC (running Windows 7), and the suggestions made by Apple/iTunes support have gotten me nowhere.

1. Several of the songs I have purchased request my password everytime I attempt to play them; some request BOTH my userID and password. When the correct information is entered, they still will not play, and I have tried this dozens of times.

2. Two things: These songs are not all from the same purchases, however, this problem does effect several songs that were purchased at the same time and/or from the same album.

3. iTunes support sent me re-downloads of the songs in question; they also refused to download correctly and/or play correctly, giving me the same error messages as I had before. I have also tried deleting the songs in question, and re-downloading them from the cloud of my purchased items; this makes no difference, the songs STILL refuse to play, and still prompt me for my login information.

4. I have tried uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it, but this does not seem to help.

Thus, I am wondering if anyone has a solution, or if this is the solution: is there way to rebuild my library from scratch? And/or when I uninstall iTunes, is there a particular library file/database I ought to be deleting in the process, before I reinstall?

I appreciate any help you can give me, iLounge folks!

-brian. =)

Ipod not syncing some songs

I searched for this topic and couldn't find it so if I am posting again, I am sorry. I am trying to sync my ipod Classic and it is synching. The problem is it isn't syncing all my music. I just put about 4 CD's on there and have them in itunes but when I synch my ipod these albums are not syncing to it. Other music that I put on there myself and didn't buy from Itunes syncs so I don't understand. Any suggestions?

Problem with first gen shuffle + mediamonkey

Hi,

I can't seem to rearrange songs on my iPod using mediamonkey. Whenever I click and hold over a song it gives blue arrows above and below other songs but nothing happens when I drag and unclick. This is very annoying when you want to put a quick playlist on in a certain order but other than that it works absolutely fine using mediamonkey. There are many columns you can add and select to change the order of songs but none of them seem to fix this problem for me. And whenever I send the playlist that I've made to the iPod it puts it in order of album artist by default even if I unselect that option. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Case for iphone 5/5s that feels more like the 2/3 series?

I'm sure this is Apple heresy, but I actually don't like the sharp edges on the 4/5 series. I still love the original iPhone design the best, but I haven't given up my 3G because I've disliked the new edges so much. I'm guessing the 5C is probably still too squared for my taste.

I'd really like to get the 5S for the camera and LTE. Is there a case brand out there that has softer edges, even if it adds a bit of bulk? Seems like all the cases I saw for the 4/5 were the exact same as the device.

Only partial song list shows up on shared Itunes

Hi, my 4th gen ipod touch worked flawlessly as a remote access to my iMac iTunes list for a year or so, but recently it has been giving me trouble. When I click on Music, Shared, and then Artists on my ipod (now running 6.1.3) it takes a couple minutes to access my iMac iTunes list (on Snow Leopard), which it never did before, and then it comes back with about 10 bands instead of the 350 or so that are on there. I get a similar truncated list if I check albums or songs.

I was able to restore the whole list by doing a hard reset and restore on the iPod, but the very next time I went to use iTunes, it was back to the short list.

Sorry if this was asked before, I wasn't able to find anything like this via search. Thanks for your help.

Relace iPhone 4s battery not go to Apple stores

I have one old iPhone 4s for years and its battery went wrong recently, and I know the best way is to ask help for local Apple store, but I prefer to try myself rather to wait months. I bought this 4s years ago, and I guess its full charge cycles over 400 times already…it need a replacement installed but my iPhone warranty will be invalidated if I do the installed myself...

I got some tutorials from our friend google. turned over the phone and found that four screws on it so I removed them with a 00 screwdriver gingerly. Before doing so, remember to switch off the phone. After several minutes I was success to remove the back cover and get the battery out. I have already purchased a MPJ 2500mAh external battery specialized for iPhone 4s online and it cost me only roughly $20( need to pay more to replace one in Apple store).

Do not lose the little crews as I almost lose one…. Then remove both 2 screws which secures the battery connector to the motherboard and lift up it from the top and bottom edges carefully and use tab ( I only found a similar thing ) to pull the battery up and take it out. This need force to finish it. And finally, replace the new battery i bought properly…and tighten back all the screws and recovered the back shell.

It can perfectly work again now!

iPad Mini Smart Case Alternative

So I was in the states and I bought an iPad Mini whilst I was there. The salesgirl who I must say just like every other one whilst I was there, was quite pushy. I was looking to buy a case like my sister has for her iPad but I noticed that one didn't have a back cover which sucked. I must add when i was talking to the salesgirl in america she said i didn't need to cover it as its aluminium, now i work in aerospace and know that aluminium is a soft metal. I've already dropped in the bathroom and have a small chip in the corner because of it I won't forget that silly girl. So I've done some research and I found the smugg alternative which is plastic. I want a fabric case, use to prop the ipad up, the edge protected, look nice, exposé the connections and buttons. Do you guys have and alternatives or know of a third party smart case to buy. If not can you recommend me a case which maybe you sing praises about?

Using Home Sharing to transfer library from one computer to another

I have been trying for a couple days to transfer my library on my old laptop to my PC with no success. It shows up in itunes as my library. I make my selection under the show tab then click import but nothing happens. When I turn off or disconnect from the other computer it all goes away. I have been following the directions under the help section but not getting anywhere. I did this once a long time ago with no problem. As I recall it was very simple then but not so much this time. What am I doing wrong? BTW I have tried searching but have not found anything that helps me.

Why Flac?

Why do people choose flac for their lossless audio archiving/library? A lot of people, probably most, have iTunes and some kind of iPhone/iPod/iPad which flac are not compatible with. Alac can always be changed back to another lossless format at a future date if apple go under, so futureproofing isnt really an issue. Flac has all the same or similar tagging features as Alac from what I can see, it just plays on less. A lot of software and hardware today is capable of playing back alac or m4a files but not flac, so when people say flac is more universal or open or more compatible I just dont see it. Why isn't everyone using apple lossless m4a's for their lossless audio...am I missing something?

If lossless wasn't an option...

If lossless audio was not an option and you HAD to choose a lossy file format, bitrate/compression which would you choose and why.

Take into consideration future proofing for any new headphones or stereo equipment you may buy, the quality of the audio but also hdd and space considerations, ipod/iphone memory etc.

What would your perfect balance between quality and file size/space/memory be, without creating duplicate libraries (1 library allowed due to minimal hdd space/efficiency and easy library management) and without transcoding audio with on the fly syncing.

iPhone 5s finger print technology

So I was blessed with one if those iPhone 4S that lost wifi capability due to an upgrade of the iOS. Sadly my wifi has been greyed out for almost half of the phones life and my warranty has long been over. Fixing it will be stupid as getting a new phone is smarter. It's sad that the 5 was discontinued as that is quite more appealing then the 5c. So I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5s but I do not like this finger print technology. I do not want my phone storing my finger print. Is there anyway to turn this setting off so it is basically useless and unresponsive? Kinda like turning your phone on airplane mode or to wifi.

iPad 2 leather sleeve and stand

I just acquired a nice wite iPad 2 64gb. It has a couple dings on the bottom, was dropped once by the look of it. Anyways I use it all the time for work and at home to do emails and surf the net. I love this thing. So I want to protect it. I take a messenger bag to work that has a foam protected slot on both sides for a computer or tablet. I want to get myself a leather sleeve to slide the iPad into when it is in my bag. Don't want to use iPad with case. Now I also want a little stand to prop iPad up when I'm working. Often times I'm at a desk working on a pro and iPad. A stand would make it easier. Does anyone have any affordable suggestions?

I do not want a case with stand as I do not want to have to use iPad in case.

Determining Audio Volume

I keep soundcheck on in itunes as a form of normalizing/volume balancing across albums. I like that this option isn't permanent, can be switched on and off and by having it on in iTunes the same options are there on ipod devices when i've synced...

...the problem I'm having is that I drag and drop a lossless/ALAC album into itunes and it scans through its "determining audio volume" which is fine. I may then create AAC versions of an album too. If I delete both albums from itunes then drag the lossless back into itunes, it performs this scan again. However if i drag and drop the AAC created album into itunes it doesnt perform a scan, the volume data is already present/stored either in the file or in some kind of database file within the music/itunes folder...is there a way to set this up so that I can drag and drop lossless albums into itunes without it performing this "determining audio volume" every single time?

I have updated to 11.05 and when im editing group info on a whole album it keeps splitting the album into two within itunes, first one just having the first track of the album, the next album containging the rest of the tracks. I have checked every single box to confirm all data is the same across all tracks (bar title, track no, obviously) and its the same. Ive confirmed this by deleting the whole album and dragging the album back into itunes, which then keeps everything just in one album. Is this a glitch with the new itunes or just something with my computer? Problem is everytime I do this I have to wait for "DAV" to perform before I can edit the album, slowing the process down.

Appreciate any help/info anyone can provide.

Corrupted classic, capacity 0 KB?

My 120 Classic worked great till a recent update and sync. Started skipping to next song halfway thru a prior song on occasion. decided to resync it with "nothing" in it but like1 album which it did. Then I reselected all music at 192kbps. It would get thru 500-800 songs out of 13000 then lock up several times. I think a computer restart after an overnight update was the last straw. Now it does not want to be restored?? Is hard drive dead??

More info, when it tries to restore, ITunes eventually stops responding and I have to close it via task manager. ITunes will not restart till I disconnect the IPod

SwissArmy Cell Phone Case??? (iPhone5)

So I am trying to find a "SwissArmy" type case for my iPhone5 and it seems that my searching is finding me a bit puzzled. I want a all in one case as I go fishing a lot at the lake across the street from my house and I hate taking a bunch of crap with me down there. I use my phone for music and why can't I have a case that helps me do a little bit of everything like cutting an old line, fixing something small on my rod or reel, may be even pulling out my lure from the fishes mouth. Plus I want to be able to just walk out my front door with my phone in my pocket, ear phones in my ear, and just my rod in hand (especially in case I want to smoke a cigarette on my way down I can have a free hand).

If anybody knows if there is a case like that out there then please help me find one as I feel like I can't find a single thing. I did a google image search and came across what I think is a rendering of a case but I don't think it's real. Can anybody help me?

Rip DVD to file, then re-rip for every new device

I have looked, and I have read too much. Brain indigestion.

I have lots of DVDs that I want to sell.

Ordinary (not blueray or 3D or anything fancy) films and TV series like Stargate etc.

I have already ripped them for viewing on my iPad using MacX DVD Ripper Pro.

However I now want to view them on AppleTV on my big screen.

And no doubt one day I'll want a better version to view on a retina iPad.

So do I need to rip the DVD as an iso (perfect copy but huge file) or an mp2 or mp4 - with H264, (perfect copy but smaller file), so I am future proofed when I want to convert for a new device using MacX Video Converter Pro - just as if I still had the DVD?

Quality is important.

Need a real Apple Guru for this one.

Hi All, my name is Michelle and I live in South Africa, not on Apple's map apparently (Tsonga is, but not us)

Here's what I need help with

I set up my iTunes account up a long time ago, when passwords could be all lowercase, alphabet only. I can’t recall setting up a rescue address. I have since changed my password to a alphanumeric mixed case password.

I have also set up an alternate email address, in the hope that that would solve my problem. It has not.

When I get onto the page that asks for my security questions I answer them, but as I said, I either never set them up, or I gave different answers. So I get the answers wrong

Here is the important bit......

It does not give me the option to click on a link to reset the questions via the “rescue address

I have set up an alternate email address for this purpose only, and verified it. It appears on my profile.

I have emailed Apple 4 times. What do they do? Mail me the "contact Apple support" List of telephone numbers, and wouldn't you know it? South Africa is not on the list that they mail me?

How sad is that? That I have spent days, not hours, ploughing through forums, FAQ’s and pages trying to get help and eventually reach out to the people who Apple employs to help me, and all they can do is send me a

link, without even first checking (which would take roughly 7 seconds) to see if, indeed the page they are directing me to, is of any help to me at all?

So..... how do I get this alternate email address sorted out as my rescue address?

I can't phone Apple, they don't read my mail properly they just mail me links that are of no help.

So I am resorting to the good folk of this forum to see if you have any good ideas. Thank you so much in advance.

I am off to feed my pet elephant before I ride him to the shops (just kidding!)

Thanks

Michelle

I think iPhone5 is better than Galaxy S4…

I am the one have iPhone 5 and I really love it, compare to my friend’s Galaxy S4…

iPhone 5, a device in its simplicity but also very swift and light on its feet, while the Galaxy S4, which with a bigger screen and a steady barrage of features.

I purchased iPhone5 because of its design. The polished chamfered edges, precision- cut speakers and even the button feel are all pretty much perfect. It is also easy to use with one hand, whereas the Galaxy S4 can be a stretch to reach across the screen with your thumb.

I appreciate the removable back cover on the Galaxy S4 and how light it is given its large display, but the iPhone 5 offers a far more elegant design.

About battery life, It’s a good thing the Galaxy S4′s battery is replaceable, but its 2,600 mAh battery hasn’t impressed. While continuous Web surfing over 4G LTE on 40 percent brightness, the Sprint version of the S4 lasted 5 hours and 49 minutes.

Then I do the same test on my iPhone 5, saw 7 hours and 13 minutes of endurance, or more than an hour longer. Although iPhone 5 doesn’t have a removable battery, there are at least a half dozen battery extender cases available for us.

S4 features a Drama Shot Mode for action shots, an Eraser Mode for eradicating photo bombers and a Dual Shot Mode for using the front and back cameras at the same time, great for inserting yourself in a picture postcard. Easy to switch camera modes.

However in terms of photo quality, the iPhone 5 impressed me more. Although its camera offers less resolution than the Galaxy S4, I found that S4 blew out details that the iPhone 5 is able to picke up, such as the darker flecks in the stone at the front edge of the fountain, as well as where the water drops landed. The iPhone’s shot also offered better contrast.

In general, I still love my iPhone5, though my friend shrug at me…:shake:

What to do with my Verizon iPhone 4S at end of contract?

Me and my girlfriend are on a shared plan, both iPhone 4S and the plan is coming to an end. We are pretty happy with the 4S but realize that staying on Verizon we will just continue paying the same rates as if we bought a new device.

Since we can't take the Verizon 4S to T-Mobile with us, what is the best course of action? It feels like we are compelled to upgrade with T-Mobile, even though we wouldn't mind keeping the 4S. We just don't want to continue being ripped off at Verizon.

Cdda 99%

Hi, I've been using aucdtect to analyse my lossless audio files, most say 100% but now again a few will say 99%. I've read elsewhere that if the result is 95-99% I need to check the spectrum analyzer, indicating something could be wrong, however I wouldn't know what I'm looking for on those charts. Is the 99% CDDA result a big issue/error, requiring me to re-rip or is the result an estimation and therefore flexible to margins of error. Any help or info on this would be appreciated. Transfer - Titles, but not music?

I want to transfer the music, books, and podcasts that are in iTunes on my Vista computer to a new Windows 7 computer and a new MacBook Air. I followed the instructions, which were clear, and it was easy to transfer my stuff to the new Win 7 computer. I have not yet tried the MacBook. My podcasts and books easily transferred. However when I tried to play one of the operas I had transferred, I discovered that the titles of the music were all listed, but none of the actual music transferred. All of this music came from CD’s that I uploaded to iTunes over time. None of it is music purchased from the iTunes Store. Can someone help? iTunes jumpoing back and repeating one song

Windows7, iTunes 10.5.2.11

Since last week, when playing an album (or all albums by a single artist) iTunes will play a couple of songs and then jump back to one song and play it again. It then sticks on that one song and repeats it over and over. I manually go to the next song that should be played (which is often several songs after the repeated song) and it continues playing the album normally but then may go back to that one song again. I do not have shuffle or repeat turned on.

It only started in the last week or so; before that this version of iTunes worked just fine. I always hate the latest version of iTunes whenever I update so I've been avoiding doing that.
