I've read iLounge reviews, watched YouTube reviews... my perfect case would be an Otterbox Reflex, but with rubberized grip along the sides and less slippery back. I currently have a broken Reflex. I don't care about docking or accessories - I want drop protection, face down protection, slim profile, and ability to use my own screen protector. I'd really like side grip, and a non-slip back would be a super plus.
Cases I am considering (in order of preference) and would appreciate comments if you think I'm mistaken about details:
Incipio Silicrylic / Ballistic Shell Gel - it looks like it's got some side grip and a bit of back non-slip, low stretch due to hard plastic shell all around edge and face. Maybe a bit thin on drop protection vs. the Reflex's air cushion? The Ballistic SG might have camera blockage issues.
CaseMate Phantom - might be too big for what I'm used to.
Incipio Destroyer Ultra - back grip, but not side grip and maybe a little bit of stretch possibility, but not too much as the hard plastic goes all the way around the edge.
Otterbox Reflex - my current case, just want side grip, super plus would be non-slip back. Too bad the Prefix doesn't get made for the 4.
Griffin Protector - looks like good drop protection, rubber wraps around front a lot so it might not stretch (for example I'm worried about Nick Guy's review of the Incase Box being too flexible / stretchy). This is why I wish the Otterbox Prefix with hard backbone was available for the 4. (Include the Griffin Skin in this category)
Ballistic Life Style - seems like a Reflex with less protection on sides, still no side grip. but dropped on corner wouldn't break it like my reflex did.
Incipio Rigid Frame - Much like a Speck Candyshell but has the rubber grip sides and back. seems a bit thin on drop protection. (Include Speck CandyShell Satin and SwitchEasy Capsule Rebel and Seidio Rugged in this category)
Speck Candyshell Grip - appears to be thin and in direct contact with the phone, so possibly less drop protective.
Seidio Innocase Active - similar to the two piecers above, but there's no side or back grip and it's pretty thin on drop protection.
Ballistic Every1 - built-in screen protector, seems a bit thin on drop protection, but they advertise it as being great at drop protection. (Include Lifeproof Gen2 and Trident Cyclops in this category)
Speck Toughskin - starting to get a bit big and would like the rubber inside to avoid stretching. (Include iFrogz Bullfrog in this category)
CaseMate Pop - seems a bit too thin for drop protection. Don't care about the credit card storage on back side.
Ballistic Hard Core - a bit too big, though not as big as Defender or Tank. don't like built-in screen protectors. (Include Lunatik Tacktik in this category)
Other cases I will not buy:
Seidio Innocase Surface - no drop protection.
Speck Candyshell (flip / standard) - I don't like the shiny, slippery, scratchable candy shell.
Incase Slider (Pro) - Seem thin and in contact with phone, thus less drop protective. If it's in direct contact, I'd expect more rubber bump cushion.
SwitchEasy Trim / Eclipse - same concern as Incase Slider.
Otterbox Defender, CaseMate Tank, Trident Kraken AMS - too big and bulky. Don't want a built-in screen protector because I want to use my own matte one.
Otterbox Commuter - the rubber part would stretch and start to not fit properly over time.
Any silicone rubber only case - same as Commuter.
Any TPU only case - no real drop protection.
