Problems with "Other" Storage in iTunes Preventing Syncing of iPhone

Hi,

I searched around and couldn't find a thread on this topic. I apologize if this has been hashed out before. I hope that this is the proper forum and not the iPhone forum.

WHAT I'M WORKING WITH:

iPhone 6(not +) - 128 - iOS 8.1.3

iTunes - (Whatever is most up to date. I'm sorry, I'm not at my home computer right now.)

Windows 8 (ugh!!)

BACKGROUND:

This has been happening for a while on my iPhone 6. On two occasions I spent 3+ hours on Apple phone support. The issue was never really solved, just "worked around."

I constantly get "iPhone couldn't sync" error messages, but often it has synced and then has to be ejected. Often, I have to sync multiple times to update the music on my phone.

THE PROBLEM:

When my iPhone is plugged into iTunes the "Other" storage is showing that it has way more in it (47GB, when it was just a few two days ago) and that I have far less available storage (7GB) than shows when I go on my phone to SETTINGS> GENERAL> ABOUT> AVAILABLE (47GB) making it impossible to sync my music which exceeds 7GB.

Now my music on my phone music library is just a song here and there from random albums, basically a random sampling of what "should" be on my phone. Also, a few whole albums are there, but are greyed out.

CLUES?:

*Maybe* I accidentally unplugged my phone while it was syncing recently and it put this nonsense of of over-filled "other" into motion? That may have been the trigger, I'm not sure.

There’s also an ongoing issue with the GAPLESS PLAYBACK repeatedly calculating. I’m sorry, but I can’t give the exact verbiage right now. I think it’s a common issue.

THE QUESTIONS:

What is going on with this "other" storage nonsense? How do I get everything back like it should be?

Thank you all in advance for reading this and possibly offering assistance. I've Googled like mad and only found little bits on similar issues and none are very useful. I really don't want to have to go back to calling Apple. Ain't nobody got time for all that. Especially since they once had me back up, factory reset and restore my phone - and it didn't work . That was a lot of wasted hours.
