Some songs won't play on iPhone after sync

I've noticed a problem lately when syncing my iTunes music library to my iPhone 6.

Lately, when I've added new music to my iTunes library (usually CDs I've ripped myself in Apple Lossless format) and then sync my library to my iPhone, all of the new tracks appear to be on the phone, but a few refuse to play. The iPhone just skips right over them and moves to the next track as if they're not there. Typically, this is the case with 1 to 2 tracks per new album that I've added.

When I connect the iPhone to my computer and open the iPhone music library, I can right-click on the problem songs and pull up all of the file details - everything's there - but they simply won't play.

The only thing that works to fix it is unselecting the album in question from my selection of tracks to sync, syncing again to effectively remove the album from the iPhone, then reselecting it and syncing it back onto the phone.

However, there's no way for me to automatically identify all of the problematic tracks on the phone since they appear normal. I keep noticing new missing tracks when I listen to an album and find that 1 or 2 tracks don't play.

Is this a known issue, and can anyone advise me on how to solve it?

I'm using iTunes 12 on a Windows system.
