Hello,
I am not terribly tech-savvy.
About a year ago I dropped my iPod Classic into a bucket of water. I immediately placed it into a bag of rice for about a week. I tried to restart it, charge it, and kick it across a room (not really but close). There was no response from the iPod or iTunes, just a black screen. I had tried again recently, with the same results.
Today I had some time and decided to exchange some parts with an even older iPod Video that I had. I put the battery, logic board, and spin wheel from the iPod video into iPod classic (tooting my horn). There is a response from the iPod! Not a good one, but a response nonetheless. "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore." iTunes recognizes that the iPod is in recovery mode and I must restore it. iTunes also says that there is 0kB capacity. The Wndows folder says that there is 80GB, or half full (160GB hard drive).
This is where the issue lays. Most of the music on here was collected from a few different computers over a few years. I am aware that restoring the iPod will erase all music from the iPod. My question is, is there any way to take the files off of this hard drive before restoring the iPod? The main concern for me is retrieving the files, as the iPod itself has been replaced.
Thanks in advance.
