connecting iPad to HDD on Home Network

I have a portable HD connected to my router, which means I can access that HDD anywhere in my property via the wifi/powerline network by typing the IP address of the router into a PC



. is it possible to access this network with my iPad, I have lots A/V files on the drive and id like to view/listen to them on my iPad anywhere in the range of the WIFI Signal. My tablet is already connected to the router for browsing etc etc. but I need to know how to access the HD connected to it.
