ipodrepairs.co.uk

I just wanted to share my bad experience with iPodRepairs (Fix-it Sales Limited) based on the South Coast of England.

After much consideration and also after speaking with iPod Repairs I decided to send two 2G iPod minis to them for battery replacement. This decision was also largely based on the testimonials on their website. When the iPods arrived back I was hugely disappointed by the quality of the battery replacement (heavy handedness was a major understatement). Both iPod has clearly been opened with a screwdriver/metal implement as the paint had been scratched off where it was forced between the anodized case and the white plastic on both the top and bottom of the iPods. The white plastic end caps/bezels were also dented/scratched where the screwdriver has been used.

I wrote to them explaining my dissatisfaction and they replied asking for photographs.

I duly sent them detailed pictures of the damage and whilst they said that damage to the end plastic bezels was inevitable, they said all the scratching of the metal cases was down to me and that I must have damaged them through use and dropping the iPods.

Not only is this untrue (both iPods have spent their lives in iPod Docks since new and were mint when I sent them) but they also denied using a metal tool to open the iPods.

This whole sorry experience has cost me just under £50 and in addition I have now had to buy a replacement case and four white plastic end bezels.

The moral of this story is buy the batteries from Amazon and do the replacement yourself with the correct plastic/acrylic tools! If anyone is thinking of using this company for their iPad or iPhone I would seriously think again!
