Removing videos

Hi I have an Iphone 4s ios 8.0.2 and would like to remove some videos but I can't figure out how to do it. The instructions I have read on the internet say to open the video app and then tap on the video and edit it out but when I tap on the video nothing happens. I couldn't figure out how to do it via ITunes either - could someone help thanks
