Playlists have gone? Help

hi,



I'm using an iPhone 4 on and iTunes on a windows 7 laptop.



I recently moved all my music onto an external hard drive, and now when I connect my phone to iTunes it doesn't find any of my old playlists.



If I was to sync my phone I think I'd loses all the music which is currently on my phone.



Is there an easy way to transfer some files back that would allow me to use the playlists I really don't want to have to start over.



I'd rather not transfer my whole music library back not my laptop as I need the hard drive space for other stuff
