Basic questions re receiving and forwarding pictures

Help please re pictures received on my early model iPad.

I received an email with five pictures: two of the five showed the actual picture with a small icon below each showing the picture title.jpg, its size (eg 3.3 MB). and a down arrow. Three of the five showed only the icon. When I click on one of the icons I get a message that the picture is loading and, indeed, it then appears.

These are some of the question that I have::

1. Why do some of the pictures display without first clicking the icon and others do not? Does clicking the icon start the downloading process?

2. How do I SAVE the pictures? Are the saved pictures then added to those I see when I click the PHOTOS icon on my iPad opening screen? Can I save some but not all five of the pictures?

3. How can I forward the pictures (or just one or two of the five) by email to a third party? I tried forwarding the entire email via my Yahoo account but that attempt failed as the combined nuumber of bytes exceeded the allowable limit (as I learned from a “Your message could not be delivered” messae). How can I select just one or two of the five pictures to be foorwarded?

If there is a good tutorial that answers these (and other such questions) I’d like to get its URL.

Thanks for your help (and patience). .... wdc
