120GB classic questions

I have had my 120GB classic for at least five years now and its been very reliable, I havent used it for six months or so, but have started using it again, one thing I noticed is that it seems noisy, Im assuming when its accessing the hard drive. I dont know if its me not having used it for six months and forgetting its noises, or it could actually be on its way out....what do you experts reckon.



Also would a failing Ipod's sound quality worsen. or is it a case of if the ipod is playing the quality is constant till it wont play ?
