I want to transfer my iTunes library which currently resides on a WinXP SP3 PC running iTunes 11.2.2.3 to a new PC running Win 8.1 Pro with the latest version of iTunes 11.4.0.18. The new PC has an SSD drive as C: and an HDD as D:. I want the library to reside on the D: drive.
The installation of iTunes on the new PC has set the iTunes media folder location to C:\Users\John\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media. Is there any naming convention I should follow in creating a folder on my D: drive ?
On the XP PC I have folders containing MPEG-4 Audio files at a folder path of ...\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\iTunes Music\artist... Do I copy iTunes Music and associated folder and file structure to an external drive and then copy it into iTunes Media on the new PC to complete the transfer, or are there other steps I need to follow ?
