My new computer doesn't recognize my old ipod!

Hi everyone! I am back with a new sort of problem I hope some of you iloungers can solve! Okay, I have an old 3rd generation Ipod Touch updated to 5.1.1 and a new computer with itunes updated to 13.3.1.2. When I go to itunes and plug in my cable, it doesn't show up on the left and when I look at "My account" it does not appear under associated devices. I can see how to remove a device but not how to add one. Instead of coming up in itunes a new screen appears and it shows up as "internal storage" under the screen for "this pc." I don't know if it natters but my computer runs Windows 8 (which I can't stand!) Any ideas?



Also provided I will eventually be able to get my ipod to sync, what is the easiest way to get audiobooks loaded by Overdrive Media Console to go under "audiobooks" instead of appearing in my itunes library mixed in with music? Thanks!
