IOS 8 differences on IPAD

I took a chance and installed IOS 8 only to find I now need to double tap what used to be a single tap. The bookmarks icon moved to the left side and when opened won't dissapear when you load a site unless you tap it a second time. When a site is open and you scroll down a page the back option dissapears till you scroll back to the top. You can't close a page unless you minimize it. The close comand isn't there anymore. It seems less user friendly. Any thoughts?
