I have had a 6th gen 160gb ipod classic for a number of years now. However a couple of years ago i dropped it and as a result received the red cross on screen.
Now i have decided to do something about it so i bought a new hard drive and screen and replaced both. As a result i received the 'restore through itunes' screen so plugged my ipod into my laptop and the charging screen has come on. However it has stayed on the red part for the past couple of hours and my laptop wont acknowledge the ipod on screen when plugged in.
When i unplug the ipod it will not do anything, ie reset. I assume that the battery is a goner due to the amount of time it has been left dormant. Can anyone shed any light on what else it could be?
