iPod Classic switch

I had an iPod Classic and lost it a month ago. For Christmas, my sister gave me her old one that has been sitting in a drawer for months. I synced it and got my music loaded. However, the switch at the bottom that locks /unlocks the iPod just slides back and forth...nothing happens. Without unlocking, I have a nice....paperweight! Any suggestions on how to unlock my iPod? I have an ihome, so once I get it unlocked, it will play, but I can not get anywhere without it unlocked! Any help would be appreciated!!
