New Developer - Psychopedia

Hey guys,

Just a little background behind my story. 29 year old male in Sydney Australia, no experience in IT or writing code but do come from a business background.

Just took over an iTunes application called Psychopedia and currently releasing my first update. I have made the app free and optimised it for iOS 5, the update should go live in a few days :D

My background is finance and banking. So what is a guy like me doing investing in software that he has no idea how to program, write or maintain? Well the truth is its not that hard. It's so easy for anyone to become a developer today with the myriad of services and developers available on sites like odesk and elance.

So far the most challenging thing that I have found is dealing with overseas developers. Not so much because of the distance issue, but more so finding one that is able to put themselves in the driver seat of the user when applying the updates. Some sloppy work and excuses to cover them. But with time my negotiating and project management skills are improving.

My tip is, if you have ever thought to yourself "i wish they made an app for (insert idea here)", you should start doing some research about it yourself. You'll be surprised at what you can achieve.

Thanks guys!
