iPod toggle switch

I received a refurbished iPod for Christmas because I lost my iPod. I was able to load my music onto it, but can't play it because the lock /unlock switch at the bottom is broken. I have an iCraig speaker system, so as soon as I can select a playlist I'll be ok, but how do I unlock it when the toggle switch won't work? Thanks!!
