corrupted library in iTunes?

First off, i do not have a mac i have a hewlet Packerd, (sorry can not spell) and Windows 7 (i think, the one with the icon fences) but my problem is with my itunes i keep getting an error message saying "the itunes library can not be saved the disc structure is corrupted and unreadable" What does that mean and should i be worried and most importantly WHY? :confused::confused::(
