Pausing a Song in iTunes - Jumping Back to the Beginning

So I'm working in the latest version of iTunes, editing a playlist so there's no dead space at the end of each song. But every time when I pause a song with a only a few seconds remaining, it automatically jumps back to the very beginning of the song.



Anyone know if Apple is fixing this new problem that they recently created?



Is there a work around?
