I am in the process of trying to update my library of about 10,000 songs with bpm information. It looks like most people think mixmeister's bpm analyzer is the tool of choice, but it does not work with m4a files. I need a little guidance..
What I've done already:
I allow iTunes to keep my media folder organized. I went through the process of consolidating my files... So I'm sure I have all of my media in the correct folders in my iTunes library... Also - I use iTunes match, and have already used this service to upgrade my songs to the higher bit-rate aac versions. Therefore, more than 90% of my library are m4a files. I bought a program, 'Switch Sound File Converter Plus' which converted my entire m4a library to mp3 in a separate folder ($29.99), which I then ran mixmeister on.
So... Now what???
I'm not sure what exactly to do now that I have 2 sets of music - 1 that iTunes is still 'pointing' to, and 1 that contains the BPM information... I am tempted to Delete all music from iTunes, move the old library to a different directory, move the updated mp3 files to the existing iTunes Music folder (where the original files were) and then importing the folder into iTunes... Would this work? What would happen with iTunes match? Should I backup my library? Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!
