Need help with using a multimeter/voltmeter

I have searched everywhere and I am getting very frustrated with finding a simple answer towards using my multimeter with testing the battery terminal, I know how and where I need to touch the two left and right terminals but what setting do I put the multimeter on? I have not one single clue. There is no diagrams or videos I can find to show me. This is frustrating me so bad, can anyone here tell me how to properly use my multimeter with testing my battery terminals and what setting to put my multimeter on when I do this? I really need help. Replaced screen on my iPod and it still won't turn on so I'm thinking its the battery and that it could be dead. Maybe shorting it might work. I need proper instructions and google is being unreliable in anyway I change what I am asking to do so.



Where setting do i turn the dial on my multimeter? Anyone?
