I am running the latest version of iTunes on a 2012 MacBook Pro. I have a recurring problem where tracks in iTunes won't play at all when I click on them even though they are still connected to a file in the iTunes library.
When I try to convert one of these dead tracks to another format, I get the following error message, for example: "Error occurred while converting the file 'Everlasting Light'. An unknown error occurred (-50)."
This is happening a lot! I did a diagnostic on my two external hard drives (where I keep all my music files) and disk utility says they are OK.
One thing I've noticed is that on one of these dead tracks, the mini thumbnail of the artwork in the iTunes library won't appear for a track that is dead. The working tracks retain the mini thumbnail artwork.
Please help. The Apple Support pages say nothing on how to actually resolve this problem without re-importing the CD. Thanks.
